Terry you shouldn’t feel bad about show us stats and numbers. It really helps to educate people about the game, especially when deciding the cost/benefits of paying for a T9 premium.
thanks - I'm usually trying to keep a somewhat healthy mix between ship types, reviews, science stuff and whatever else I can come up with. Much appreciated!
How ironic..... I just finally started playing my Fuso again last night! I started playing WOWS almost 5 months ago. 2-3 weeks after I first started playing, I completed the 150 point mission chest, and in the chest was a Kongo. I didn't start playing it for at least 2-3 more weeks, as I was still learning with tier 2-3-4 ships. But having it as my first ever tier 5 ship meant that the Fuso became my first ever tier 6 ship. But I became enamored with cruisers, and I practically stopped playing BB's, so it's taken 3 months to reach 22k XP on my Fuso! Since I picked up both the Yorck and Algerie in the past week, I decided to start grinding the Fuso to the Nagato. My Fuso commander has reached his lev5 skill, but I'm undecided on which to choose. Now Ive got almost the same XP on each of my 3 tier 6 BB's, including obviously the Fuso, the Normandie, and the Bayern. But I have no idea which of the tier 7 BB's is the best in those lines.
Ah, tier 7 BBs. No easy choices there! The Gneisenau is a culture shock after the Bayern - she's fast, but only has 6 main guns. Good secondaries, and you get torps, but that means you've got three weapon systems to cycle through, and the torps take you out of the binocular view, which can be super irritating at first. She's a good ship, mind you, but more of a battlecruiser, and needs some practice to play successfully. The Nagato is rather different from the Fuso - you're down to 8 guns, and they can have a bit of trouble with penetration on the AP, but hit very hard when they do. I personally tend to switch around between HE and AP quite a bit on the Nagato. I haven't even made it to the Normandie yet on the French line, so I can't say much about the Lyon. My personal favourite at tier 7 is the Hood, but that's a premium. The German line has the advantage that you get the Bismarck at tier 8, which is an absolute monster. Maybe someone can chip in with a word on the Colorado, since I'm still on the New Mexico here. I have a review on the Gneisenau, although she's been buffed since, but that might give you a bit of an impression what you're in for: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hatNziS8E-A.html
The Fuso can be wonderful at blanking destroyers' health point pools in a single salvo, as long as you aim right! I'm glad you mentioned the "smokestack method" for determining which(if any) direction the enemy ship is moving before you fire at it. At least once every 1-2 battles, I'll wrongly assume a ship is moving in a certain direction, only to watch my shots land ahead or behind the ship due to it either not moving at all, or moving in the opposite direction(although that doesn't happen as often). Its especially annoying with battleships, because you've done -0- damage with your salvo, and now you've gotta wait 1/3 of a minute to shoot again! It becomes more of a problem when you are moving at top speed in a fast gun platform ship like the Kongo, Nurnberg, etc. Your own movement relative to the enemy ship can cause a false assumption of the enemy ship's movement. But I never considered using the smoke from the stack as a reference. Probably because I never paid any attention to the smoke to begin with!
The Yamato was my first tier X ship. The grind from my perspective was the most difficult. I would recommend if you don't want to be frustrated then skipping the Izumo. If you want to grind something that will do some consistent damage. The Montana grind is the one I would recommend. Although I have now unlocked all the tier X battleships, the Zao, Midway, Gearing, and the Hakuryū. I have played the Shima during the rental event and would recommend that for those that want a simple ship to play. Due to the fact you basically stay outside of detection range and torpedo the enemy into oblivaeon. Because if I can get a kraken my first time out, most people can do well in the Shima. Of course, if you want something with some decent torpedoes and good guns. The tier X Russian destroyer the Khabarovsk is the one I would recommend. Needless to say, it all comes down to what ship line you want to grind.
@@onewingedangel6196 Well I would say for me it is the American line. Because once you get to the North Carolina, you really start having a more consistent ship that will deal a decent amount of damage at a fast rate. With the Montana as the payoff ship with that extra kick with the four turret.
I've got two tier 10s so far, the Mino and DM. Next one is probably going to be the Curry. I'm grinding up the USN BB line (there's an ongoing "road to" series for that), so Monty before Yama. Worcester might be before Monty still, given my preference for cruisers. Haku, well, not any time soon :) So far, the USN line has suffered a bit from lack of speed and accuracy, but I agree that things should get better around tier 7 (not there yet). The German BBs are excellent brawlers, but they require some experience. The IJN line is more range specialised so far I'd say, and I've been distinctly underwhelmed by the French BBs (at tier 5, at least). USN seems pretty versatile.
Bayern and boosters, check. I've done one on economics, which includes boosters: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JNpdxVoTB9g.html But I can also go through them for the XP side of things.
thank you for this video, that's why I am having problems sometimes when dealing with destroyers, and I really appreciate the guuide, hopefully this keeps up until you finish the whole tech tree line! p.s : I also feel that way hahaha when you never pay attention to the capping because you are so focus on the battle!
IJN BBs were the first tech tree line I've played in the game, and I'm up to Nagato, but haven't been back for a long time. We'll get there, I've done a video on Kongo recently, Nagato is probably next, plus I've got a couple of premiums that I still need to set up.
@@FunandGameswithTerry , alright dude, I'll keep waiting for the next guide cause the Fuso Actually Helped me a lot, and also the Kongo tutorial. Next one is nagato. and you said you have destroyer guides? for the IJN? I might check it out since the only destroyers I have is yhr two tier 6 IJN destroyer..and I have Problems picking with it's equipment, it's game play style and etc.l.
I love the Bismarck, and the Tirpitz. Tier 8 was the highlight of the German BB line so far. Freddy is quite a bit more difficult, mostly due to the total lack of cruisers in tier 9 / 10 games, but it's starting to get a bit better, with the USN CLs being the perfect BB companions.
and your armour isn't very good :) If I can rush an IJN BB in my German BB, it's feeding time. That's what confused the heck out of me when I played the Alabama - she seemed to behave more like an IJN BB gun-wise. I have to play that thing again.
Nagato is a good ship, although different - fewer guns, and more difficult to play IMO. Her AP isn't always reliable, so I tend to switch ammo quite a bit. That's how far I got in the line, I'll do a video on her as well.
that's my most played ship with close to 1k battles ....still my favorite t6 bb can 1 shot t5 and t6 cruisers , and any destroyer warspite might be the best t6 bb , but i find fuso more fun to play
Warspite is great, but if I can get her at range, my money would be on the Fuso. You just can't rely on your team much in mid-tier, which makes her often a bit challenging to play. I personally would go out in the Bayern, but Fuso comes a close second.
Yeah, she was classified as tier 5 in the Blitz pass on the first day, before they corrected it. Guess they forgot to fix that elsewhere, too. That kind of thing happens in software development. Seems no one QA'd that :)
Japanese battleships from tier 4 to tier 8 are pretty much battlecruisers in my opinion. The Nagato seems to lack penetration and accuracy, I'm not sure.
certainly agreed on the BC sentiment, especially in terms of armour. The Nagato's AP can be a bit underwhelming, I often find myself switching to HE against BBs in her, and follow up with AP once they're on perma-fires. Definitely more challenging to play than the Fuso.

I find myself more and more playing for team victory rather than points. E.g. if there's a low-health ship already under fire, and I have another target, I'll prioritise that to maximise damage. You'll hear me saying stuff like "ah, our has got this, and move on. I might have to point out that capping gives you score, maybe more people will be interested, rather than trying to sail into the next map :)
Wow, that sucks. Tier 6 can be hit & miss - often you'll find teams of people who don't have much experience, and just sail off on their own. I wish the matchmaker would put more emphasis on league placement.
@@FunandGameswithTerry League standing can be slightly misleading. It New Years Eve and at the end of the last season I was in League 9 (8500+). And that was ground out in probably an average of Tier 4 ships. That's the highest I've ever gotten. Yet we see other players hitting elite by the end of the 1st week. Yes I know they are mostly playing T9 or T10 and also have win rates most likely above 60+%.
You mean, in terms of silver? They're all about the same I think, from Memory, Mino was around 12m plus modules. Neptune is about as good, you'll see a big difference once you make it through Edinburgh.
Shen Yang was the Namikaze, a Minekaze class DD, turned over to China after the war. Minekaze is the tier 5 gunboat DD on the IJN line, so that's matching.
Hey Terry, thanks for another great video. Just want to say thanks for always doing your best to get back to us with replies! Have a safe holiday! Mine is just ending😂
Thanks mate, I will. Just until next Wednesday, and I'm staying in AU, so I might find some time to reply (although at a lower frequency). But I'll catch up :) No idea for how long I can keep doing this, but so far, we're at almost 600 subs, and I can still keep track of things.
This was the line i needed to grind. Too bad i did the german and got the freddy and grober kurfurst. I feel that the Japanese bb line are the best. the french are also very excellent and the american are an decent all around. But i feel that the maps are too small for the play style of the german ships. Now im going to finish grinding for the midway and start this line.
we all have our preferences - I love my German BBs, and I haven't liked the French much so far (at tier 5), but have been told that it gets much better once we get to the fantasy ships. Yama is definitely a beast, but there's a price to pay, from what I've heard - you have to play the Izumo :)
The Yama is a beast. I tried brawling one in my Freddy a while ago, and that did not end well (for me). Izumo has a bit of a bad rep as well. I personally quite enjoy the Fuso - the Nagato so far has been quite a bit harder to play. Fewer guns, and the shells can struggle to pen.

interesting question. I haven't played her, but she does get the standard 127mm US DD guns (albeit a later revision). I haven't had the best experience with 127mm AP even against destroyers, and tend to use the HE more. IFHE should improve your penetration against bigger targets, since you're usually not going to be able to aim much, and shoot at them from range. AP might give you better penetration against other DDs or lightly armoured cruisers, or in situations where you can reliably target bow / stern or superstructure. Without having tried this or having any data on it, IFHE sounds like the "easier" choice, whereas APCS might work, but probably requires more skill in aiming to get the benefits (it's not going to allow you to penetrate anything like belt or even deck armour on cruisers or BBs, I'd say). Please take with a grain of salt, since I haven't tried this. But I'll have a video about armour and aiming coming up (in a couple of weeks, these take a while to produce).

First ship i bought historical camo for cause its very fun Sad thing is even molotov can citadel a fuso Bday event got me the helena .. what a lovely cruiser 🥰 you got it too? Review incoming?
I didn't have much time to play, since I've been on vacation the past week, so I'm not quite sure I'm going to make the Helena :) IJN BBs in general aren't the best armoured, at least these tiers (Yama obviously being a bit special in that regard). I tend to play them at range a bit more, which also lessens the penetration power of the incoming AP.
Only played 2 days of the event, just recently had a breakup so i didnt feel like playing.. but when i saw helena i took a day off and made the 50wins, paid 10€ and some leftover gold for the night camo.. its even better then belfast wich i loved to death 😂
It depends on the ship type you are aiming at. For destroyers and light cruisers it should be HE, for heavily armoured ships like Heavy cruisers and battleships you should use AP. HE can still work with them, but AP for more damage and penetration.
AP shells have higher armour penetration and do more damage, but can bounce or over-penetrate. HE shells can't, but do less damage on impact. They can, however, set fires that do additional damage over time.
I got up to Amagi and couldn't stand IJN BBs so I sold it. I think that the Fuso, with it's huge superstructure that you can see from space, is butt ugly. Possibly the ugliest in the game.
hahaha true, the pagoda masts just look like someone piled heaps of platforms on top of each other, without much thought (which is pretty much what they were). Compare that to something like this: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/HMS_Warspite_(1913)#/media/File:HMS_Warspite,_Indian_Ocean_1942.jpg
