The infamous "lemming train" tactic, where everyone just sticks together - you've already seen a timelapse of this one as a short recently, but here's the full battle breakdown.
The lemming train is the single most annoying phenomenon you can experience in the game. Nothing is more annoying, it encompasses: not capping, not choosing targets wisely, concentration of ships in one place where firepower would be more effective and useful elsewhere, and the abandonment of other team mates, making them the equivalent of minced meat, no matter how skilled they are. And knowing that your team may well have won if some had been more wise is just insult to injury.
If I had a dollar for every time my team ran away to a safe cap, leaving me to die ... That said, there are situations where you can spot this happening, and either use it to your advantage (if they're actually pushing, rather than just hiding somewhere), or compensate. I find that in a cruiser, I can often hold cap rushes, especially against DDs, and inflict enough damage or delay BBs sufficiently.
The horrors of playing in T10 in your Halland you try to cap your zone and you see 2 colombos, a venezia, and a mino. Then you see that your support has actually decided to spend 2 mins going to the opposite side to cap a different point that is filled with the rest of your team. At least I went back to port knowing I tried to play the objective.
Oh, the amount of times I've started a push in my GK, seeing a cruiser right next to me, only to find a Shima a minute later, and realising that the cruiser has decided to run back and hide behind our carrier...
@@FunandGameswithTerry Yeah. Cut to a scene where you're enjoying a day in Bismarck, and your team runs away from epicenter while you're surrounded by an Akatsuki, Wichita, Akizuki, Roma, and a Carrier, and you damage control a flood and 3 fires, only to immediately get all of them again.
I just had a game in my Seattle on EU server wich tends to overpopulate with battleships if you play in the evening. I got a macht with 1 dd, 1 ca 4 bbs and a cv per team on golden channel. I called out cap and went to the cap to that Island where you can shoot over in US cas. My 2 german bbs stoppen 2 bismarck lenghts before the cap. One enemy fdg pushed/yoloed and dc a Single fire. I told my Team to target him because he was coming close and didnt had a dc ready. The fdg ran away and my entire Team followed him. He die to my fires. Then 3 bbs decided to take my Island Position and pushed me away. They stand there even though german bbs cant shoot over the Island so well. I then tried to cap and play my cruiser open water because we still didnt cap. I catched the Neptun in his smoke and the öland with a Radar while my bbs wasted their shots to the island. Killed them both while my bbs still wasted their shots. My August von parseval helped me with camping. We got it. But to late. The timer ran out. I got 105k damage th e only 3 kills and full teamplay score in a Seattle. The entire Rest of the Team didnt manage to gome over 35k and the never touched the cap. My entire Team did nothung useful the entire game! This Player base is just a Zoo with the weirdest possible animals. Btw fushun Sounds like Fuß-Huhn
Ever since I went to the NA server, I rarely see lemming trains. When I was on the Asian server...it was like everyone and their mother's favorite tactic. Needless to say, I've successfully led a few lemming trains to victory!
Isnt this a good example of how the train is supposed to work? Just a couple ships to defend so the rest of the team can concentrate force on offense. Doesn’t matter if the two defensive ships die, just so long as they hold out for long enough. Also the shell arc on the Canarias is something I had to adjust too. Anybody else notice this?
Yep, this was in instance where it worked out for us, since our team mostly pushed, and the enemy defence didn't go for delay tactics. Doesn't always happen, but hey, nothing always works :)
We're lucky Terry... And I'm often in a defensive position... It's just that this position happens to be us winning. ideally there are 2 battleships & 1 cruiser with torpedoes, enough to withstand the attack. depending on the enemy battleships how hard it hits our team in one shot... :D
Even without a train, leaving a flank open can endanger your positions quite severely. Shimas sneaking around, DDs holding the centre cap suddenly exposed...
Yeah, you see that sometimes. Someone mentioned that it's a strat used in competitive, so maybe that's where folks are getting the idea. It can work if the team pushes aggressively, and the defence can hold long enough.
The lemming train happened in one of my games and it was amazing. I think we won. This happened some time ago. It was so funny when I saw me and part of the team in battleships(Idk if I was in a battleship but there were a few tanky ships) just charging straight in to a weak point and scattering the enemy.

Someone please call the train’s conductor! So is this called mutual lemming training? In this case, your enemy lemming train seemed to go down a side track & eventually derail, while the home lemming train found the correct branch line to the opponent’s train station, albeit one of your cruisers hit the wrong track switches & went down a dead end trunk line. Overall, well done by 3 of the home team & poorly done by the opponent. ;-)
It's a thin line between the train & simply staying in groups for support. Ranked play is a good example of this. Loners get vaporized by good coordinated mutual support fire...
Mutual support and concentration of fire are important, but so is positioning. You can go defensive even in a cruiser, but not if two ships have angles at you. That's one reason I was positioning that far north, to block the DD, and be able to give flanking support against whoever was going bow in towards our Dunkerque. She's not the most accurate, so a determined Nürnberg should be able to torp rush. Not with flanking fire though 😊 Positioning can often be key on the map.
@@FunandGameswithTerry That's right, Terry... position in this game matters. While your ship can distract the Enemy Destroyer, my ship's condition (Dunkerque) is reduced. If destroyer (Fushun) and Cruiser (Nurnberg) dare to approach me, the story will be different. The enemy's 2 Fuso Battleships were enough to sink me actually. I think you're in the wrong starting position... xD

So I normally play battleships which means I’m not far from my capture circle. I have had whole teams take off in the same direction and do nothing at all because a destroyer spotted them all and realized there was only one ship missing (me) and rushed the cap. I remember this battle so well. Just throwing in there the other team had a 3 person team of DSTYR high ranking members. I’m good but I’m not that good. So the lemmings train does NOT work.
It can work, but it depends on some factors. A torpedo cruiser can hold quite effectively, but it also requires your team to do their part and push through. If they don't, there's not much you can do 😅
Italian cruisers and battleships both have SAP if that's what you were talking about. Also the very recent Paolo Emilio but that doesn't apply really since it itself is a destroyer
@@Emeralds60601 japan user like to brawl a lot in battle they end up getting destroy and Italian mostly are no match against german you can brawl with them using bb with 64% hp alone even if they have full health or still elite but your repair consumable must be not in cool down

Ive been the lone left-behind a few times... It can be frustrating. Luckily in your battle the team actually went for the cap!! Since seeing your schedule and commenting about rhe upcoming Lemmingtrain Vid, it happened again!!I i was on same map, and did as you did- the left flank. Rest of the team went to protect those islands on the right, but didnt push. Stopped im their tracks by the lone DD. Of course i was kiting away and ran for my life as the whole enemy team pushed center and left, isolating and shredding me. I killed one cruiser. We got capped out 6-3 and most of my team wasnt in range of either cap. Almost threw the phone...🤣 Sometimes ya just gotta go play some Solitaire...
Yeah, it's not that you can solo something like this. All you can do is give your team a fighting chance. If half the train goes Dora on the map border, you're screwed. I've occasionally suicide-yolo'd into a centre cap if my team did that, just so I could get into another round faster. I've seen some reeeealy strange plays lately, and not just in lower tiers...
