8:10 in defense of Richelieu's "strong AA", that only really applies if you upgrade your hull, which Rainbow Glitter Farts hasn't done. Maybe they're not that far through the research, or they just value the catapult and spotter plane more than AA (Stock hull Richelieu has DREADFUL AA), as the catapult is removed on the B hull.

Change my mind? Challenge accepted. Jingles I would say the Richelieu is better than the Monarch and the Kansas. The Monarch is a damage pinata with anaemic guns and no super heal, and the Kansas is a tortoise with no shell and a reload measured in fortnights. At least the Richelieu is pretty good at bow-in tanking and is fast enough to reposition.

man, 3 seconds on the clock when that last torpedo hit. Not the closest game we've seen on this channel, but that's pretty damn close.

I once ended up about 1.5 km face to face against a Jean Bart, while I was in my Richie as we both were coming around an island. Hilariously, he kept trying to rip open my superstructure, while I, with my first salvo, damaged one of his turrets. Then I damaged the other turret with my second salvo, and then destroyed both of his turrets with the 3rd salvo. I did this on purpose so I could turn on my engine boost and get to his side and just rip his citadel a few new holes. He was not happy about that chain of events, and made his displeasure VERY clear in chat.

I actually had a decent game in a Richie last night. Slightly more damage, slightly fewer kills, also had the CV "kill secured" by a cruiser. Survived as well, which doesn't happen that often for me, but definitely not in this ship. I put it down to the enemy team always having something more interesting to shoot at and a great restraint at charging forward whilst yelling the Marseilles. I'm enjoying the french equivalent of sacrificing dissidents to the gulag but would point out that those aren't overpenetrations - the shells penetrate just fine - they just do a gallic shrug and don't explode as they're on strike

Anyone else enjoy the fact that Jingles, the legend who mixes up ship types ALL the time, is being the most nitpicky about differentiating between whether a ship is a light or heavy cruiser or is a battleship or battlecruiser while Wargaming themselves are like, "Nah, they're just ships that go boom. AIRCRAFT CARRIERS AND SUBMARINES ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU MUST LOVE THEM AND RESPECT THE BALANCE WE'VE CREATED FOR THEM!!!!!!!!"

I hate reworked carriers with every cell of my body but the Ranger deserves a compliment, he actually used his brain and moved his ship when he needed to, keeping a reasonable distance from the enemy ships. You don't see that level of IQ on carriers players very often. Amalfi did great work as well.

The Gnaisenau is actually a prety good ship, at least I like it. 6 guns are still enough to do the execution manuver from 3 km away (yes, it has very bad dispersion, but you are meant to go in close). It has the speed and the armor to get close before it dies and it has torpedoes as a backup, if your guns fail you. The way I like to play it is I use speed to rush to a island in the middle of a flank, chill there a bit and then push around the corner, delete a cruiser that was hiding there, torpedo the enemy battleship, while roasting the destroyer with my secondarys. Rince and repeat. Yes, you need skill and balls of steel for that, but its fun. I think that out of the 20 battles I have played with it I've won about 14. Gnaisenau is a good ship change my mind.

Love the name. Wish more famous historical figures had a name like that. Sir Rainbow Glitter Farts. He was the finest prime minister Canada ever had. He kept us out of war!

The key to Rich in my experience is positioning. If you make yourself the priority target, you will quickly melt faster than any other BB line, and you have a smaller health pool than pretty much every other line, especially the fact that you can see this player is the A Hull because he has a plane *and* next to no health. But with a top speed of 32 knots (not 30, sorry Jingles, Rich was the fastest BB before Iowa was made in real life) and an engine boost to boot, giving you nearly 40 knots of speed, meaning you can cross the map if needed which means you can play the wide flank and still hit the other side of the map when needed. Ergo, you can burn an engine boost at the start of the match, perch up at an island, on the flank or otherwise, to force an early crossfire on your enemies. Plus the HE and AP are solid monsters so no matter how your enemy angles, you can still hurt them despite the smaller gun caliber. Not to mention the weirdness of the armor being "internal" by WeeGee, which means in game sometimes you should get nuked by damage but it all bounces for no reason, or all overpens/hits the torpedo protection, and the inverse happens for no reason as well. As for the guns, they are best used at 10-14km, where the accuracy is passable and the shells have a bit of drop on the arc to give you a better chance to smack the waterline. I respect your opinion on the ship, and you have played longer than I have, But I have played that ship for a lot of my hours for fun, learning the strengths and weaknesses of it because I adore the real ship and the innovations/unique design France gave it, as well as the USA upgrades giving it the better of both designs by shoving bofors on everything they could. Plus, I like a ship that can show its full gun battery and not expose its citadel to return fire since you can nose into brawls and pummel Bismarck players with 8 pens per shot. And that is the real victory :)

9:30 Jingles, pen damage, both AP and HE, can be healed by 50%. Only fire damage can potentially be healed 100%. Also, the protagonist did way less to planes than he could have, as he was not using the B-Hull (as evidenced by the low health pool).

You know, as a real battleship the richelieu design was very good, the quad turrets are actually two twin turrets stuck together with an armour dividing wall between. Therefore taking a hit to the turret, wouldn't wipe out half the ships guns like in the game. In fact she compares very favorably to ships like Bismarck and Hood which have a similar armament, armour and speed while being much heavier, making the French design very efficient, and much more cost effective. Despite this, she was fairly useless, because France's fate was decided in the land war.

Was in the Richelieu when matchmaking put me on the same team as Flambass and Gibbins in their Tier 10s. Came top of the team, won the game. That was a good day.

I personally like the Richelieu. I know the accuracy leaves a lot to be desired, but I love playing it as a mid range bruiser, skirting it’s concealment radius and playing that line. I’ve also learned to save the engine boost for the moments of “oh shit my team is crumbling on this flank, I need to get out.” Also Rainbow Glitter Farts did not have an upgraded hull Richelieu (you can tell by the two triple 6 inch turrets straddling the superstructure). So, sadly he didn’t have the 40mm bofors and 20 mm Oerlikons to trust in

Hey jingles I met a world war II pilot a long time ago and he told me that in the Pacific nothing looks like what you see on video. Every ship has different colors for ranging shells and tracers so each ship can figure out which round belongs to which ship. You're probably already aware of this but he said it was as beautiful as it was terrifying rainbow glitter is pretty accurate to me especially now that they've started to enhance old footage I'm starting to see this. Clips of pink mist and yellow shells hitting the water and red and all kinds of s***. Speaking of which when are we going to get a gnome abroad again? It's been awhile. Much love as always.

About mispronouncing French ship names. I always pronounce Henri as Henry with an emphasized H, Saint Louis as the American city's name is pronounced, Dunkerque as Dun-ker-key, Jean Bart as Jean (like blue jeans) Fart, and lastly Bourgogne as Burger-gong. Just to name a few. Love it.

11:25 The player might be disabled, but you have shown a video previously of someone who was fully blind. They had to rely on information from two other people watching the screen - one controlling ship movement, the other controlling the guns - make a decision, and relay that information back to whichever person needed it.... and that player still did very well. I can't recall if they won or lost the battle, but it was certainly a defining point that being disabled is not an excuse for playing badly.

I do like the Richelieu, but I'll admit its an odd one. I like to kite with French BBs, since they have the speed for it, but that's difficult to do in the Richy, so it needs to played differently.

One of my easier grinds was going up the French BB's line, I did played a lot with the "Richie", and I remember liking it a lot, I do like the battlecruiser style of gaming so, the entire french line, being fast and agile, fit me quite well... Also all those BC's hiding in the battleship lines in other nations were also fun, including the premiun Scharnhorst, but not so much the british BC hms Hood, I just can´t get it to make it fun

as a person who abandoned french cruiser line because i had a feeling my charles martel had citadel mountend ON THE SIDE OF THE SHIP, rather than inside of it, and decided to go french battleship line and is about to grind the richeleu, i just want to say.............welp, i'm almost there

Someone needs to find an 8 year old world of warships player to show us all up. I once ended up in a platoon in Planetside 2 where the 12 year old was running the show like a professional. Its got voice coms and we all wanted to know how old he was and whether grandpa was calling the shots. Nope, the kid just likes military history. If that kid gets into a real war, the other side is in for a world of hurt. He had us dropping back up bases, flanking everything, pulling decoy attacks, ambushes, the works. Actually it would be fun to see Jungles play a Max in Planetside 2. Its free.

One thing the Gneisenau is good at is destroying entire squadrons of tier VI carrier planes without getting dropped once... if the Gneisenau is running you down, it can actually deplane you post-2020. This isn't to say that carriers aren't still in need of proper balancing... Jingles's point about win rates is quite persuasive.

I know WoWs is an arcade game and not a sim, but it's good to remember that in WW1 and WW2, the gun accuracy of capital ships vs ships was only something like 10-12% so the guns in WoWs are unrealistically accurate compared to their real world counterparts. The spread of the gun shots might be magnified graphically, but single turret salvos could "spray" a target in real life. The pressure wave of a round being fired only a fraction of a second quicker than another could affect the ballistic trajectory of the shell enough to make it land sever dozen feet "off target" at long range. Other factors like the physical properties of the round, the barrel lining and cordite bags could also make the individual guns differ from one another in terms of target accuracy on any given salvo round.

I'm sorry Jingles, but I really like the Richelieu. Also this is a rare game where it came down to last few seconds to declare a winner. Nothing worse then a steamroller game, where one side just loses so many ships so fast they hit zero and the game is over early.

The craziest part about this game is that he got not one, but two secondary kills in the Richelieu
