I started the new Update with the Black Friday Shop. Looked at the prices and thought: Why the heck should i go and buy something that overpriced when i can invest it in something way better. I really love this game, but with their greed I dont want to support all this anymore. Imagine 50-90 € for a single Ship, god am I crazy? With this i can eat almost an entire month or get my car tank full.
There are games like Star Citizen with 1000$ space ships. What your trying to say here is that your broke and can't support a FREE to play game. Since you can play it free whatsoever.
Yeah charging a full AAA game price for ONE digital pixels ship is crazy. But this game target audiences are boomers and milenials in their 40s or 50s with a lot of disposable incomes so WG might be on to something
I’m enjoying the TNG event. Like the destroyer pulse phasers (super fast torps) they make ships go bye bye really quickly. Like the photon torpedo (ship missiles), also like that you can upgrade the loadout on your ships. I’ve not unlocked the enterprise D as yet - but seen a lot of them blowing up in the tng event operations. Whats also very cool is that all the credits, flags, damage you take/give all count towards campaigns and combat missions, so you get tonnes of credits and blast through combat missions and campaigns
@@peeperinos Played around with each during testing. I've gone with the "Tuco" of TOQDUJ...CQB shield, hull and upgrade 2 on phasers. Photon atm but will move to TAC pulse in a bit. With all the modules using that rig during testing was helping churn up nearly a 750-800k avg. Getting 10-12 kills and try to snag the buffs right away atm to get around 400-500k. As long as everyone stays center map each key can be covered np.
These collabs are cool but I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed that it’s always some futuristic jet age thing while we’re still sitting in water for our ships… make the map in space with the water layer totally invisible.
They already done that years back... and it makes no ffin difference in a two dimensional game. You can't move up or down, so the whole 'imagine you're in space' thing is nonsensical to start with.
It's looking grreat and I agree anyone wanting actual naval combat and not some bs arcade *W* e *G* r e e d y impersonation of that, should be looking at Sea Power. But it's not in the same genre being a single player strategy game.
The Lazers and the photon torps go hard, get like 5 plus destroyed every battle and stupid credits and xp, the same map over and over might get boring but it's pretty fun smoking a dd from 15+ ks with a lazer,, been playing the 💩 out of the star trek ops today and gotta say it's the best update I've seen in a while
I really don't like the lasers, sure they nuke shields, but so does everything and it's really hull that's the main source of HP. I run the Cruiser with the SAP guns, CQB Pulse Phasers and generally end games with 12+ kills, had a 28 kill game on day one. The lasers just give up to much to just hate on shields.
Despite really liking those camo's... I aint paying more for a camo that does nothing when I could get a T8 Premium ship for less....15k dubs for a camo when a T8 is 14K dubs... Insane! I get there is a licence fee, but surely the 3rd party company know's if you make it cheaper your likely to get a much higher volume of sales! As much as I enjoyed the game mode...I hope to goodness they do not bring missiles into the game! There is zero counterplay to them atm! They would need to have some sort of counter play.
@gallusace6514: So true. In the UK we have pubs closing down because people cannot afford the prices they charge. They cannot grasp that selling with a lower profit margin brings more sales! We also have a pub chain called Wetherspoon, which do sell cheaper food and drinks & they are still expanding (And always busy inside). Makes you wonder why some just cannot grasp the idea of cheaper bulk sales. As they say in the States...."Go figure"!
Wargaming would have made a licensing deal with Paramount that not only is paying them a share of all Star Trek money earned here but also would have up-front $$ guarantees. So WG is putting a lot of investment of money and effort into this, and if you like it maybe consider supporting it with whatever $$ you feel you can afford. I'm enjoying it as a temporary event.
I like all this content, but I am VERY disappointed that Commander Data isn't one of the commanders. He was such a good character in the show and it makes me sad he's not part of this.
'commander Data' wasn't a captain.... ( except in TNG: Night Terrors, TNG: Gambit part I and TNG: Gambit part II ). Even the Sutherland commission was temporary.
@@MarvinWestmaas In the game we use commanders on ships, which is exactly what Data's title was. Just saying. Also, Worf wasn't a captain either during the main show.
@@theguru143 'The main show' lol... which which one would that be.. for you I mean? Worf has better legitimacy in ST lore to be captain, Starfleet assigned him the Defiant in First Contact and he was briefly captain of the Enterprise E. My point is, you can find enough existing voice line materials for a Worf in a command role, but less so for Data. Also, 'the game uses commanders' .... Actually no, just because WeGreedy press releases are full of crap, doesn't mean ships are 'commanded by commanders'. Any sailor in charge of a ship is designated as captain regardless of rank.
ps I am a big Spinner fan, I love the way he portrayed the character. I even like Data's storyline a lot. But that doesn't mean each character in ST should be 'captain'. Take it as this: *commander* Zulu eventually also becomes a captain, but would by those who think of the Original Series as 'main show' still be seen as bridge crew material. With Data it's even worse, as he lacks the legitimacy of actually being in command of a ship outside of field comissions.
@@theguru143 .. do you think Scotty should be a captain? Spock? Then why does TNG's Spock ( which basically was the premise on which the Data character was started ) need to be one? And if rank was so important, why wouldn't luitenant commander Dax be a captain... Jadzia even got command over the Defiant when Sisko was promoted to admiral Ross's adjutant. Data was a great character, I believe many people with autism like me will often look at his character and his interactions and recognize things from our normal daily lives. But for the 3 episodes we can see Data being in command of a ship, I don't think it's a well founded request to have him designated as one of the more important captain characters. While Worf really *IS* that, even if simply for being part of the Wolf359 massacre which is so pivotal in ST lore. That's why he will always get that recognition, because off.... *Perhaps today is a good day to die.... prepare for ramming speed!*
Can't wait to get my USS Zumwalt someday. " With this ship evil will not triumph" Even though she didn't pan out the modern Naval concept of the Zumwalt class destroyers will eventually be brought to this game i assume.
Voyager was great! I'm kinda surprized, I thought it was more popular. TNG was the best liked of course. Aah... memories going to the videorental store and getting the latest episode(s)
I personally am mixed on Voyager. I think the show could have been great... if DS9 wasn't also airing around the same time and taking up the "gritty realism" part. Because Year of Hell was amazing. If the entire show had been like Year of Hell, where we see crew being killed off, Voyager getting more and more desperate, Janeway starting to understand why Captain Rudolph Ransom was willing to commit genocide to get home, and to really hammer home that quote from Q to Picard in "Q Who". "If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it's not for the timid." I feel that's why a lot of people don't really care for Voyager. It had the ability to be so much more, and just feels like wasted potential. Though given they clearly didn't want more than one darker show at the time... I'll take DS9 over what Voyager could have been if I can only choose one. DS9 just felt more "real" if that makes any sense.
I like the operation, I am earning a lot of credits. I also think the port looks great. I can care less about a 6 point commander and the camos are cool but not for what they cost. I really do get irritated that so many camos are for one particular ship, often a ship I don't have and don't intend to have any time soon.
Make it so. Btw,I also assume, those Ping Guided Torps are in test, becoming Rockets, added in the future, for the standard Naval combat game imoo, but ...lets see...
The whole money thing is the killer to me. Do I eat, pay rent, or purchase WG stuff... I am going to also say the flashing does my seizure disorder no good.
Denise Crosby was the Tasha Yar character you were thinking of. And from what you played as voice-overs; only the Worf sounded realistic. Then again, Michael Dorn (and Jonathan Frakes) have been doing toon voice-overs for years. I am old enough to have watched ST:TOS when it aired on NBC. Have seen almost every TV show and movie; but I am not that big of a fan to plop a couple of hundred $$s for temp stuff.
i agree with you about Worf, the others were crappy voicing, but i mainly grew up on TNG, DS9, and Voyager, but i also watched TOS as reruns, Enterprise was decent, never got into Discovery, and im waiting for the new season of Strange New Worlds to come out
3:26 They got the name direction right on the Enterprise camo so I assume this was an error. Thanks for calling it out as it’s been driving me nuts. I submitted it as a bug report on their discord so we will see if it gets fixed I guess.
Star Trek isn't really my thing, i'm more of a Star Wars fan, but it would have been more fun if they set the ops in space instead of the water, but eh, it is what it is. The obscene amounts of silvers are very welcome though, with the amount of damage you can do with the ships.
They did the whole 'space background thingie' years back, it doesn't add to anything at all. In fact it just looks stupid, because you get the 'impression' of a 3d environment but you're still playing on a fixed 2d playing fields ( you can't suddenly move up or down... ). The only time a WoWs in space would actually be fun, was if they gave them submarine movement controls where you can change depth ( and then the whole map is 'under water' off course as well ).
@@HONGKELDONGKEL1888 You can't really simulate 'space' when you're fixed on a 2d playing field. That's why Homeworld was such a good game when it was released, first ever RTS with an actual 3d combat environment. It's also why ST Online is such a drag, compared with Bridge Commander which has a real 3d environment.
As for guided weapons, I personally don't mind, and actually would love, to have them added to the game _as long as WeeGee makes it a separete thing_ Make it tier 12 or above, I don't care, but it make it so it has protected matchmaking so that anything below that lowest tier for the missile age ships is not queued up with them.
Wallet is closed again for this event. The Brisbane for example would cost me $156.84 Canadian with a port slot and no commander. This is a rip off to start with. The coal version is 252,000 coal and you get a slot and a 3 pt. commander. Cheap and greasy as usual on the part of War Gaming.
Ok, I give everyone tips and tricks here in Star Trek event. DDs are just debris collectors. Nothing much to talk about them. Like other class just did better job anyway because more Hp. Cruisers are Utility ships. It have like a Space Beam and I keep calling it Wave Motion Gun shoot at enemy ships. It deals AOE damage and does a lot of damage. It can delete Shields. Proton Torpedoes are best on both Cruiser and Battleships. They are 100% accurate and can delete any ships. BUT, you need to make sure it perform in open space and enemy shields are down. Battleships are just basically your starters. They absorbs a lot of hits and they also do have very good Utility tool. Laser beam seems to be best as this class because you can melt Borg’s Shields. Enterprise-D are special and if you know how to operate CV or have a commonsense. This thing is fun to play. For an Event. I would hate her if she is in Randoms tho. The Heavy Bomber is the Instant Death for any ships even they have 100K Hp. BUT, you need to destroy their shields or else that Proton Bombs will literally just destroy the shield. Which destroy you main Alpha out put. The Attack squadrons are your friend. You can just keep spamming the, and performs better than Dive Bombers. Because it is the only Squadron that just melt shields. Not to mention you can citadel as Attack Aircrafts. Regular Dive Bombers, I found only effective on Cruisers or No Shields users. TBH. You probably won’t use them as much as Attack Aircrafts. Gameplay is simple. Defend the point and let debris ship get close to the center so that you can collect them more effectively . That’s how I play with my clan anyways. Stock Equipment isn’t bad and can be good at most situations. But get a better hull.
DDs are the strongest class in the mode with the best one shot kill guided missile weapon - much stronger than the BB one, highest DPM and best consumables + AOE weapon (that also gives you a 40% dpm boost for ~ minute. The sap main guns lets you cit and melt down a borg BB in about 15 seconds flat. Plus they have fastest shield regen and insane combat instructions. If you have hands you should average about 600k damage a game, easy. BBs are too slow and too low DPM, the cruisers are ok when upgraded to second tier hull and weapons - but that's bit of a grind as you need 100 tokens. DDs just need the one 50 token hull upgrade.
The worst star trek voiceovers ive ever heard. Janeway sounds like a 65 year old chain smoker... Im almost certain Kate Mulgrew would of done a few lines for free just cause its Janeway.. so disappointed in that.
I'm of the camp that won't spend money on this game and plays completely free, minus my time. Thanks to the Whales and others that just feel the need to spend real money on pixels.
I tried the Trek Op last evening - meh, not a fan. 1 & done for me on that. On a side note, I got the first 2 Black Friday containers in that new track they put up, with some doubloons I had, both were Elite Commander XP, which I have 800,000 already - total ripoff. Done with "buying" any more of those also, lol. So this update is a total dud for me, lol oh well.
Personally I think this is the best mode I have played in WOWS hands down. My previous favourite was the bathtub one and the bug type one with the ship that had mortars. I see comments about missiles and such quite a lot but what I don't understand is why? The game is called "world of warships" not "world on pre-second world warships" is it? They did make a mistake calling the tier 11 ships superships. It kind of made it that they are the pinnacle with nothing to come after. I don't understand why they can go further forward into time and bring in ships with missiles and such in higher tiers ie tier 12 to say 20 brining us right up to modern day. I mean there are already ships in game, I'm thinking specifically of Halland and the like which actually have anti-sub and anti-shipping missile launchers actually modelled onto the ship yet don't do the job they actually did.
Sea Lord, I like you, but I haven't played WoWs in years. I probably won't considering how stupid they are with pricing, and events, even in comparison to other Wargaming games. No massive discounts for older ships either. How much do I need to donate to get you to play something like Ultimate Admirals or Sea Power?
