These guys are amazing -- huge turnover. Wish they would show the whole race instead of cutting to all the different camera angles. Show the world record, it takes less than 21 seconds.
Most likely not for a while, just because FINA is Phase 1 of suit banning. Phase 2 will most likely set us back to 2007, where all suits that contain material impermeable to water will be banned. Just because it passed the buoyancy test doesn't mean it still cant be banned. Im expecting the LZR Racer to be banned after Rome this summer.
To MrMaddielover i would just lyk 2 say im a swimmer my self and i highy doubt that u swim a 23.74 at 14 yrs old the olympic consideration time is about 24 seconds and i dont think u have been in the olympics so nxt time dont brag about nothing.......nice work frederick bousquet ur my fav swimmer keep thoes records falling.
In the video "world record 50 free frederick bousquet", the red line is not the WR line record because it's the french national championship, the line is national record. ;)
that was the french ational record, which was set a year aago, when bousquet, levaux, and even bernnard hadn't really come on to the scene yet, so of course it got crushed.
no this was qualifying time not the wr line, this is the national championship they don't show the WR because usually no wr is broken in those competitions
Those new swimsuits are a disgrace. Anyway, that of Bousquet is one of the very few great records in the last couple of years. Alain Bernard's 46'94 is less impressive, because with a "normal" swimsuit he would go just under 48'.
I agree abot how hard it is to train it,I am a swimmer myself....but I just think that these new suits and some other stuff ruined the beauty of the sport....years ago when someone breaks the WR he would become a hero,and now it is normal that 5 WR are broken in one day only!That is what's bad with new technology!
@JusticeerBR Would be nice. I think it is stupid to have possibly lesser technique dominating the record books. I doubt they would beat his 50m free time.
the "frenchies" are full of muscles ... excuse me but all the sprinters are like that, but if you compare with an eamon sullivan, ok he's a little bit muscled, for alain bernard it's an other case, and he wasn't doping !
Actually the Cesar Cielo world record is also from the same year (2009) and Cielo tested positive shortly thereafter so this could actually be the actual true clean record albeit with a super suit
ok. lets think about it this way guys.. lets look at any other sport and how new times have cause advancements in all other sports just like in swimming. in baseball people are getting that surgery when you switch your wrist and elbow tendant to throw faster, in football they have special gloves to make the ball stick in your hands and newer shoes that are lighter and give you more potential to run faster. nothing going on in swimming is unfair except the suit ban. its bullshit.
the world record line is not accurate. i timed it and is about 23.78. So theres something wrong with it. Impossible for the gap to be so huge for a difference of less than a second. Its a 50 free, not a 200free.
Oh yeah... Bousquet is good, but only break WR into unimportant competitions.... Phelps cant defeat sprinters, his place is 200 and 400m... And yes, super-suits are making articifial results... I wanna see Cielo and Bernard swimming like Popov, trunks only... I doubt they can beat Popov times.
wow, this video demonstrates perfectly how these swim suits are messing up swimming. How the HELL in the 50m race is almost EVERY SWIMMER miles ahead of the world record lol, what a joke. Not so long ago sullivans world record was incredible and yet in this race everyone is a boyd length ahead of it! I mean over the shortesrt distance in swimming it is jjust not possible that so many people are so fast
meaningless. I wonder whether the real world record (21.64) is truly broken if without the technological doped suits. With the suits, now its more difficult to say whether one's improvement is due to true improvement or cheating as one can claim its the suit rather than drugs. 2010 (with textile and limited suit) would hopefully revive swimming back to its true game. 47s in 1free, 53s in 1back, 59s in1breast and 51s in fly are totally meaningless now.
