@@harveyvalter3250 yep, you can even lose with a higher average than your opponent for example if your opponent throws first and gets a 9 darter thats an average of 167, if you get 180s on both of your turns that's obviously a 180 average for that leg but you still lost because you didn't get to throw at double works for longer legs and matches as well, but is easier to explain with less darts for obvious reasons
phil driver imagine if he hit that 36, it would of never been broken but that 123 will be broken someday. I think Peter Wright will have a shout at it someday
@@silas2131 It means how many points you average on every turn (3 darts thrown). Like the commentary says, the previous world record was 118.66. MvG beat that by an enormous 5 points and was close to beating it by 12 or 15 points. Just incredible
If he would have hit that double 18 first try, his average would have been over a 133. He would have beat the previous record of 118 by about 12,5%. Imagine if someone breaks Usain Bolt's 100m sprint record by that margin, that person would run the 100m in 8,5 seconds. That puts into perspective what kind of shame it was that he missed those three double 18's.
@@SuperChalkster they run for the W, too... you just need a quick time to get it. As in Darts, where you play for the W but need a high average to get there.
To be honest..it's live on TV. Without TV Camera's MvG can play easy 135 or more Average till the End of the Match..because the preasure is gone, without TV-Cameras.
At that point he'd seen enough to know he had no chance I think, it's probably easier to be sportsmanlike when your opponent is playing like he's the physical manifestation of an omnipotent god lol.
Love how this popped up. What a night that was. I was sat just left of the cameras at the front. I remember saying to my mate wtf are we witnessing then he proceeded to miss 3 darts a treble 18. Still pure class from MVG. Been lucky over the years of going to the premier league especially in Aberdeen. Phil Taylor’s 9 darter and the world record average no bad. Looking forward to tonight no world number 1 and reigning world champ thanks to covid. Hopefully this time next year we will be back watching the PL live.
wtf I have not seen darts this century, but what was this man doing. Amazing darts, and that 132 finish, with two bulls, and then a double 16. Amazing darts. The standard of darts today is truly scary, how big of scorers these people are. It must be so demoralising to play someone, and not to be able to get to have a chance at a double yourself, as the other player just scores with absurd numbers like that. Amazing dart throwing. Like i said, i have not seen darts this century, but just clicking on this, and seeing that dart throwing, is really amazing.
Peter Wright might have beaten this but this one (in front of a crowd on a TV stage) is way flashier and more impressive while Snakebites arrangement was more like a practice area
Wonder if someone told him when he was at 134 for an average on second to last leg...and if he was not told, I am very curious why no one would be monitoring that to tell him. Still badass he showed off consistent talent like that.
That is just incredible. I play pub team darts and at first was just embarrassing even down to the subtraction like these pros do without thinking. Eventually after months and months you get the take downs and know the numbers.I got to a point if I wasn't making a regular ton on a visit I was annoyed, would make a 180 maybe once during an evening. My best check out was a 131 treble 20, treble17 favourite double 10. What am trying say in this MVG younger than me for sure but am certain I am more healthy and fit which makes his performance here all the more incredible..........Pure machine and Taylor will know soon is time to retire.
I love watching darts. Must of been on planet mars, because this is the first time I’ve seen this. Dart wise. Never seen anything like that. Only my opinion. But mvg is best player I’ve seen at 🎯
Hmmm. Australian ace Kyle Anderson recorded the highest ever average in darting history yesterday, in the fifth Players Championship event in Barnsley. Anderson despatched Terry Jenkins 6-1 courtesy of an astonishing 134.84 average, where he used just 77 darts to secure victory! Anderson’s winning legs consisted of three 10 darters, as well as an 11, 12 and 15 darter. The 27-year-old, from Perth, was even sat on 46 after 9 darts in the solitary leg that Jenkins won. The news of the earth-shattering performance only filtered through on Sunday evening, as one of the official Pro Tour markers, tweeted to confirm Anderson’s record-breaking achievement. This usurps the previous record over this format, set by Gary Anderson against Aaron Monk in 2011. The Flying Scotsman averaged 133.35 in a 6-1 demolition of the former World Youth Champion. Michael Smith boasts an incredible 132.50 average posted on the PDC Youth Tour against Michael van Gerwen, but that was only achieved over three legs. This also completely obliterates the highest ever televised average of 118.66, set by Phil Taylor in a brutal 9-0 rout of Kevin Painter in the 2011 UK Open.
Even if he doesn't play at his best performance he stays the man to beat. Third time champion of the world darts. And what about the comments of wright, anderson and specially rob cross : its done with the domination in darts from Mighty Michael van Gerwen!!! Happy new year! Champion of the world darts MvG!!!
I would fucking love to see mvg bk to this standard of scoring. I know gerwen price is good but all his aggressive celebrating after winning a leg just pisses me off summit rotten when I know for a fact that if he had played mvg in this form he wouldn't be anywhere near him. The best player I've seen throw a dart ever. Truly outstanding
