I came here to make this EXACT same comment lol. Im the same age too. Game pissed me off as a kid. Glad to see this guy completely slap this cheating ass game up!
Tile skip. You have to get close enough to the ceiling tiles and quickly hit left & right to dodge the first laser. It can be tough depending on the port but it saves you a good chunk of time :D
