Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France top qualified and set a new world record score of 90.83 for the rhythm dance as the ice dance competition got underway at Beijing 2022.

This is the best ever, Their synchro is phenomenal, their speed and movement is outstanding their feet at times are so dangerously close , it is amazing to see...and they all make it seem as it is no effort at all. This is the most complicated and yet so entertaining rhythm dance ever. Bloody fantastic!

Their scores are to the roof! Even higher than what Virtue and Moir achieved in 2018. This is their year and they truly deserve the gold!

Actually the french already beated Virtue Moir score some monthes after the olympics, at the world championship. Here, they beated their own score

The fact their first performance was just tragically beautiful, yet then the second was creative and crazy, showed the full range of their talents. Notice how in this one, they were barely even looking at each other most of the time, yet pulling off the moves perfectly, they were that in sync with each other.

Of the three best men of the last ~15 years, I'd put Guilly maybe a fraction of a hair above Scott and a bit more above Charlie (they're all outstanding), but the smallest gap between partners was always clearly V/M. I'm not at all a fan of either Gabby or Meryl and kind of see them as ball-and-chains, unfortunately; particularly the former, only made more visible by the fact that G is IMO the most elegant male skater in any discipline probably ever.
