The capital city of Uzbekistan often gets overlooked for its more historic neighbours in Samarkand and Bukhara, but honestly there are so many amazing things to do in Tashkent that it's well worth spending a few days here!
On my most recent visit I had the chance to some of the city's most iconic spots, like the big bazaar, ancient mosques and even the place that holds the oldest Quran in the world. But surprisingly that's not the main Tashkent attraction here.
What makes Tashkent so famous is the elaborate metro stations that navigate their way around the entire city. These are decorated with intricate tile work that really needs to be seen to be believed. There's even one dedicated to Soviet space exploration!
If you're wondering what to do in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, I hope my travel vlog helps you plan your trip here.
If you're looking for a unique experience, make sure you add the Lakes Loop Trek in Tajikistan to your travel plans!

Such a lovely city. Excellent shots, makes you feel you're there. The Turkic people deserve a lot more recognition. They constitute the liberal and modern societies in the Muslim world. While we hear a lot about how western and liberal Turkey is, these countries look even better. They have a certain Soviet vibe to them, which makes them even more interesting. That metro is simply stunning.

Hi, nice video guys) But I wonder why the video is so short, there are much more interesting things to see in Tashkent, particularly "Square of Amir Temur" as in my opinion it's the most popular and known place in Tashkent. But anyway I enjoyed the video, thank You so much!

Awesome! Two questions is, does it feel like a more modern country purely because of the architecture? like im not getting that run down soviet feel with this country, it's like the buildings alone are telling me the Uzbek's care about their people and having nice spaces to chill out in. And the other thing is, so many unstable countries in that area, Iran Afghanistan, do you feel safe walking around and especially at night?
@bmk5217
@bmk5217 4 года назад
Absolutely safe!
@afghanieshq5797
@afghanieshq5797 4 года назад
It is really safe. I'm from Afghan origins and I live in Paris, here is my experience : Tashkent is muuuuch safer than Paris, and as well if you wish to visit Afghanistan you can as well, and in fact in villages you will be so safe as well, in cities some attacks take place but that's the only major safety risk, that's not so dangerous as said in the media, especially if you know the culture and are sensible to the afghan way. I would be more scared in some areas in Usa than in Kabul. One of my friend is French (and blond with European features so he cannot act like he is afghan) he learned dari and pashto and spent one month there, with his mother who doesn't speak dari nor pashto at all, and it went just fine for him ! He loved his travel 😊 so don't worry, all central Asia is open for you, Ouzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan...
@nomadasaurus
@nomadasaurus 4 года назад
DavidsonLoops we felt very safe walking around. We were always in a group as we were travelling with friends. I would say yes about the feeling of being a modern city. I know the metro station had been there a long time but no other city in Central Asia has a metro. I feel like the beautiful tiled mausoleums distracts you from the Soviet builds so you don’t even notice them. There is a lot of green space. Same with Kyrgyzstan. I feel maybe this happened when they broke away from the Soviet times.

I can totally convince you it is more safer than Dubai. Now I live in Dubai right now. But I prefer Uzbekistan
@sarvarmuradov8269
@sarvarmuradov8269 3 года назад
Honestly Tashkent is much safer than any big US city or any Europes big city 100%. There are no places where someone can point a gun at someone or like bad area. Its about perception, media are biased nowadays. I remeber media warning amercans from going to Turkey one time, and I was like wth how come?! Turkeys cities are much safer place than US cities
