Aloha Mariam , Thanks for the wonderful walk through Ala Moana , we used to visit every year , have not returned since January 2019 , long overdue ! Used to always dine at Bubba Gumps and Ruby Tuesday , sadly , both closed now , very fond memories for our family . Thanks for the walking tours , makes us feel close to the beautiful island of O'Ahu .

The Waikiki Trolley Pink line has an allday pass from Waikiki to the mall For $5.50.

Thank you for your tour. I kept thinking “that used to be a . . . . .” As you walked by various storefronts. Used to walk around the mall with my girlfriend back in the 70’s ad 80’s. Woolworth, Sears, and JCPenney had cafes. No food court, in its location was Lynns Deli - people would line up outside for sandwiches.

Another wonderful video! The Ala Moana Center is a fantastic mall! I love that even though you’re in the mall you can enjoy the sweet Hawaiian air and occasionally the breeze. The last day of our Hawaii vacations we’d check out of the Hyatt Waikiki and walk to the Ala Moana Center to eat lunch and then walk back to Waikiki. I was in the movie theatre business for over forty years so we ate at Bubba Gump’s before it closed (I believe it was where Olive Garden is now). You asked about favorite malls. Hands down bar none for me was the original International Market Place. It was a unique somewhat eclectic place filled with shops, souvenirs and places to eat. To me it fit Waikiki much better than the new International Market Place which seems to contain primarily upscale shopping that doesn’t fit Waikiki near as well. Ice cream, by far the best ice cream I ever had was at Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream in the KoKo Marina Center (sadly I know it has now closed.) The dive boat we always used was moored there. After breathing compressed air much of the day there was nothing more refreshing Bubbies ice cream! Cute story from Bubbies. After diving my wife, daughter and I went to Bubbies for ice cream. We got our cones and walked outside to enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian day. The first time my wife licked her ice cream it rolled off the cone onto the ground. She had the saddest little look on her face. I simply said “if I were you I’d go back inside and get me another one.” All three of us laughed and she did. Just another wonderful memory of being in Hawaii! Thank you for another great video! Your cousin in eastern NC, Mike

Ala Moana has grown so big. But I remember the old days in the 70-80’s when there were local shops along the main pathway from Liberty House clear down to Sears with McInerneys, a material shop, old Shirokiya, Woolworth, etc. now there are so many high end shops that is contradictory to local island flava with lots of national brand stores. It is a good place to get exercise though. The food court is extensive offering many choices but not all the vendors serve tasty and good food. I wish Shiro’s , Palace Saimin, Mitsuya deli, Helena’s Hawaiian, BrokecDa Mouth and Sugoi’s were in the food court. Singmatei is a good with very tasty grinds with Singapore flare. I do like the atmosphere at Ala Moana with the breezy tropical feeling, It still reminds me of small keed time to a certain degree. I just wish the super high end stores were in their own mall all by itself.

Hi Mariam!! We would love to see way more content like this, especially of the Ala Moana. It’s such a beautiful mall and unlike anything else in the world so if you could do a part 2 and part 3, it would be greatly appreciated. We are fascinated by the humongous food court and would like a longer walk around it. We would also very much like seeing the stores open and the tourists wandering around because it’s a whole different vibe from when they are closed. People watching is a thing! 😁 This request might be really difficult for the girl who is filming due to all the dodging and weaving she has to do but if it’s not too much trouble, can you guys pan around to the store fronts a little more so we can get a teeny glimpse inside of them? A big YES to the best places to get ice cream! Watching your vlogs have become a weekend tradition for us. We so love your content and the fact that you want feedback from us is really considerate of you! ♥️
