We go inside Pure Evil, Mike Washington's 8-second all-motor Coyote 1993 Mustang LX. It is totally insane, spinning 10,000 rpm. See him jamming the gears and listen to him reveal (some) of the secrets.
The only way you are gonna make that power with those cubes is with ALOT of compression and ALOT of rpm and this car has both lol. Its pretty damn bad ass....plus its a featherweight
This is my favorite car in the NMRA! I'll never forget watching back in the day Mike flip his car over backwards and burn up on the track it was crazy but he walked away unscathed! He got nerves of steel but I guess that helps when you're a firefighter!
That's static compression, you're thinking about the compression the way it works in a fix camshaft engine, when you can vary the camshafts independently that allows the LSA to drop the dynamic compression ratio through the TQ spike to a safe level, which is going to be pretty high on Ethanol or race fuel anyway.
Lumbee Warrior had an 86 that I liked and a good 4 eye is pretty but 87-93 always be my favorite. Miss my 96 mystic cobra too. Always loved the front end of those cobras
@Lumbee Warrior I'm definitely a fan of the '86 Notchback but I have to disagree...'91-93 Notchback's are the best lol of course I still have mine brought new in '91 and it still looks Brand New
@@Jimmyxsx Here's a 351 Windsor stroked to 408 (and other mods) making some serious power. /watch?v=vtcec2XdJ7E The Coyote is no joke either and this one is just insane.
First time seeing Mike. I knew from the get go he was a fire fighter. Reminds me of my buddy an ex-NJ FF, he'd still be one if a building didn't fall on him. Same raspy voice and energy. Everybody is hey pal and his buddy. Don't piss him off though as hands will be thrown. Being a FF is the only job for that energy level and enthusiasm. Thank you Mike for what you do. I salute you Oh yeah that is one sick na coyote/Fox Off subject:Evan didn't know if you noticed but Chuck Watson Sr. died recently. 3/23/21 I had posted info on the video you did of him and Watson Racing A tribute to the man would be awesome
I have a 93 4 cyl notch. Waiting to get back from Iraq so I can start my coyote swap (engine sitting in garage). At the same time I've been keeping an eye on how this 7.3 works out.
That Super Duty gasser is a beast.....it reminds me of an LS on steroids....everything is bigger and better.....although the rumor is that the LS is a Ford design anyway....hehe
7.3 has a 6 bolt main. That engine not just a big small block truck engine. Powerful engine. I wouldn't be surprise 7.3 stroke engine heavy modded could reach up to 4k hp.
Wait a couple years and let the aftermarket get a grip on the 7.3, weight to CI ratio is in the 7.3s favor so it would be a beast with an 8.2 stroker fat cam and some ported heads i dont see why 1k hp on low boost would be a problem BUT the Coyote backing is here now lol
Mr. Washington and Pure Evil have been the inspiration for my car. I've picked his brain a couple times in the groups and he's been nice to help. My new set up is similar to Pure Evil v1, but shooting for 9's in my S197.
This is absolutely insane!!!! Wow those are some very impressive numbers. I know a lot of people who would never believe a Coyote engine is capable of this naturally aspirated! Thanks for sharing that’s a bada** build 💯
@@Shiftnlift If that's the case and it's only about speed, going to the LS platform is going to give you more bang for the buck, and therefor faster speeds overall for money spent. But none of want to see that. Seeing a N/A FORD Coyote is what makes all of this so special.
For those that maybe don’t know he is describing a “slipper” clutch which has revolutionized stick shift racing in the last few years. The technology used (adjustable weights to control speed of the clutch lockup) comes right out of top fuel and funny cars.
years ago, I read an article about a guy running a 351 Cleveland with boss 302 heads in a 65 mustang coupe turning 10,000 rpm. he ran a 6.50 gearset. forgot his e.t.
One nice stang, don't see anything evil about! For ever Chevy and Mopar at the race track knee will bow and everyone will confess that this Stang is King of the track!!
Gotta luv high rpm! Thanks for sharing. I wonder how much longer a high end conical spring would hold up? Get you an 8" section of 3/8" fuel hose to retrieve and install those plugs. I can't trust a plug that I dropped. Only time will tell.
Wow, that is amazing to run mid 8’s with an NA 330ci engine. Got some voodoo magic going on inside that little coyote for sure. The car would definitely be quicker with a 5 speed. You could hear the engine being pulled down in 3rd and 4th.
Some of the flaws that he dismisses as kinks are the reason it makes so much power and runs so fast. For example if he upgraded springs he'd lose at least 20 horse. If the rear axle didn't tilt under load he'd lose traction farther into his gears instead of between shifts. I haven't seen many cars under 800 horse running under 8 seconds. This is one fine balancing act.
Let's see this on Deer Park Ave. :-) Awesome build. Love that you are turning 9500 with a stock block. Out of curiosity, you given any thought to trying that flat-planw crank?
I’m surprised they aren’t using some huge ITB’s, not being familiar with the rules, maybe they aren’t allowed but would love to see it with some huge kinslers on there
Impressively lightweight considering it has a cage in it. OEMs build absolute tanks today. Look up the curb weights of a current model year of a Mustang, Camaro, Challenger.
Impressive but just goes to show how capable the LS platform is naturally-aspirated versus the modular Ford. The N/A record for LS is 8.12@170 in a 4th generation F-body.
What is the highest compression that works with e85 for street use thinking of doing a gen1 block stock sleeve built with ported gt350 heads and 150 shot. Wanting to know what’s the compression you’d recommend on that
