What you said hit me, I went to all World Series Shows and over 100 at Richfield and it changed my life and I joined the Military, but no one realizes unless you were there ✌️From Akron
Kid Leo and Denny Sanders 1007 WMMS the buzzard. We were there when the stadium rocked. Then the Pink Floyd concert the next year. WMMS went and nothing ever replaced it. Belkin Productions forgot that rock and roll city on the lake so we had to go to the Coliseum in Independence. I miss them days.
Aerosmith canceled the night before the show, and Utopia took over the headline slot. Todd Rundgren came out and said, "did somebody say Dream On?" The place erupted.
I was at that show with you, we thumbed up from Akron the day before and slept under the benches around the back of the stadium, very hot day amd lots of drugs everywhere
nazareth in 77 was so nice "razmanaz" is legendary ...r.i.p. dan :) and double head ted was something to hear and see then ..the utopia show is what being a superstar in the 70's was all about ..i dont know much about the southside johnny band ..they must had hugged the east coast a lot when touring :) it was nice to do those festivals when you are a young man...i dont enjoys them as much today ..lol..
I LOVE the opening song!! Never Been Any Reason. I spent years with snippets of this in my head and could never remember what it was. Then internet came along, where you can type a couple of words and usually find the song you’re looking for. Those first concerts of our youth are great memories!
P.S.Ted Nugent has been my all time favorite since I first saw him about 3 months after this story in 1977. He’s still burning down the house, but nothing will beat him jumping off the amp stacks and playing that Byrdland bent all the way back, almost on his back.,And that mane of hair! ❤️
I enjoyed myself to the fullest around that time. I actually met Steven Tyler and still haven't recovered yet! Great piece Pete Walker! Thanks for sharing!
I joined for the adrenaline, still attended U2 Joshua Tree tour in 2017 and saw the Eagles in Columbus with the entire band , finally we saw Frampton in Toledo, 40 years later✊
Thank You this is something i don't remember. I know it happened. I read every "Scene Magazine" during this time. Thank You so much, You did more to save my memories than anyone else. Arigato Sensei.
