World Series Push Hands (Match 1) SIFU NIKO True Push Hands.
Recently I entered a new series of Tournaments, won the entire circuit and did exceptional, although I did not like all the rules... I believe they are based off "Tai Chi World Cup" but I did them anyways because I am a good sport and can play by any rules or lack their of and still maintain some good soild taiji principles!
The main rules I didn't like is holding onto opponents to save yourself, grabbing is okay but alot of opponents were pulling clothing, there weren't three circle you before starting, you just exploded on command of "go" ... I expressed my issues after I won the entire circuit and they are considering changing a few things!
Anyway, I give this new circuit a great review because they payout the winners, they were very nice about everything and involved another art (Jujitsu) to grow the community!
Definitely recommend You giving this a try. They do say they will expand to moving step and more options later down the line as well!

Watching you do push hands is so inspirational. I love the fluidity you maintain! I just started my Taiji training and you give me something to aspire to(as does my teacher :)

So excellent. Just discovering your channel. I don't have any tai chi near me so all I've been able to do is learn a few moves online but I know that doesn't cut it. I am also in bjj and a couple other things and would love to make use of my tai chi in these other areas and get to understand it beyond forms like you have. Love your work my guy keep tai chi alive!

It's so easy to read others when we get the water element, huh..! Stiff as boards most of your opponents... How curious..!

You ever cross hands with Tim Cartmell good sir? He's a veteran of Taiwanese Gongfu and is well versed in Wu Taiji, Bagua and Xingyi. He's also a high level BJJ Black Belt, I believe he still teaches in the OC area.

The other player was so tense and his lack of central equilibrium was skilfully exploited by you. He was getting frustrated and tried to resort to force on several occasions. I appreciate your playful approach to competition, where you focus a lot on the principles to get your win.

I'm interested in how it feels to attempt fixed position on those ground pads. Are they for sale somewhere?
@Jenjak
@Jenjak 2 года назад
I don't like the little pad on which competitors stand. They looks slippery and a bit useless. just round marks on the floor would be enough.
@sifuniko

Yeah like I mentioned they have a few things to work out! I was just a good sport and did whatever they suggested as far as rules and what they had in place!

I guess the pads let competitors choose their own width/stance, doesn't seem like a bad idea.
@Jenjak
@Jenjak 2 года назад
@@ninjafruitchilled I do it with two concentric circles on the ground (inner circle=1foot and a half, outer circle = 5feet). If you get the opponent out of the first circle, it's one point, out of the outer circle, it's two points. Players have enough range to adjust their step.

Did u ever touched hands with Adam Mizner? If so what does it feel like? Thanks for sharing a short view of your way with us! 🙏🙂

Mizner told me it would be pointless for us to touch. I don't know if i'd get a chance... I'd like to but he seems to think there is no need.

Well, even tho it kinda was meant for BJJ people to try out Taiji, you can't expect to do well in a Push hands tournament without Taiji experience

@@jestfullgremblim8002 but if Tai chi were a fake martial art, as many MMA/,bjj fans calim. Then Nicco should have been shoved off the steps easily by anybody.

At this tournament he also won against some bjj black belts.And even at the end of the film footage a bjj practitioner tried him at this and lost.He took first place in.this competition. Jan Lucanus did good too.
