Aileen Bailey was a stalwart in Jamaican track and field. She was a glue to SO many great 4×100s. I hope she knows we really appreciate her service to the country and sport.
@@sophiamckenzie5173 Great athlete. I saw a 200m race that VBC won, and she didn't medal. But she celebrated with VBC as if both won a medal. She is positive and unbiased on Sportsmax.

Yes I never understood why she didnt work on her start. She would have won many races if she was fast from the very beginning. she was too slow out of the blocks.
I'm American but you gotta give it to the Jamaicans - they are GOOD! I love Shelly Ann and VCB and the baton passing was spectacular. Way to go, my Jamaican sisters!
Shelly Ann Fraser killed the race and Jamaica won the race at the second leg. Her hand-off to the third leg was simply excellent. Shelly won the race for Jamaica. Stewart also did well at the anchor. The four Jamaican sprinters are great.
@TeeTeeLuvJBee Something else that is less commonly known is that Track and Field is Jamaica's National Sport. Track and Field to Jamaica is like Beauty pagents for Venezeula. Jamaican compete from as early as 3yrs old in Infant schools (Kindergarten) and they never stop until the Oympics. When you say ("Sports" Day) to a Jamaican the first thing that comes to mind is RUNNING!"Sports"day, every year there is a competition! 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, medals and podiums are all apart of their DNA.
Keron Stewart doesn't get the recognition she deserves..... She fast, almost beat Shelly Anne....I love my jamacian sprinters, maybe there are to many high speed sprinters. Lol
You know what - when you have many sprinting super stars like Ottey, Bolt, Shelly-Anne, or VCB, it is very hard to be visible for stars like Steward and Simpson!
they are beast and people need to just live with it they pride themselves and probably work harder then anyone because they know they have people who doubt them

******* all this talk about Jamaicans using steriods and as result are dominant in the sprints! I have one question, don't all athletes get tested prior to or immidiately after Olympic games and world championships? Are these steriods undetectable or are you implying they using some kind of masking agent to hide the steriods? Are Brazilians and Argentines so suceesful at soccer because they are using some kind of steriods? So the US basketball and swimming teams on steriods also?
One day there is going to be 8 lanes filled with Jamaica in the 100M Final at a world leading event. Man or woman.Thank God i live in this time to see Jamaica break records, not just win the events, but break the records. more Jamaicans are going to want to run and feel pride running and run faster. Only a matter of time. I predict this!
Yohan blake was banned by the Jamaican association for the substance, not even the international federation. They didnt have a problem. It just goes to show that Jamaica is even more strict.
Interesting fact, all the athletes that got suspended for steroids for Jamaica was not from a fail drug test after a meet or race except Millings and Carter. Asafa was framed.
Jamaican's are fast runners I'm sure because they trained hard and did all the things to become a runner? They probably have been running since they were little, and as they grew older, they gradually gotten faster.
Age two. Kindergarten sports day you Google this. Milo champs for age 8 to 12 and ISSA champs for high school. That competition is feirce it is a mini Olympics and extreme fun.

@dimondgyal876 Fine whatever you say. I enjoy the sprint races that are going on right now. There's a few Americans that have tested positive for steroids and yes that was very stupid. But not all. I don't have a problem with anyone being proud of where they are from or how they are doing in sports. Usain Bolt has plenty of fans in the United States. This is my one and only point: Will you be proud when your team is no longer winning? If so then good for you, your'e a real fan.
A bit dissapointed in the time they run (42.06)......................considering the fact that they got 1 and 2 in the open 100m.they still got the job done.
@lejear01 both the A and B sample of Marlene Ottey tested positive. It was not a rumor. There was a positive result for steroids in both samples. Whatever happened later behind the scenes to change the ruling is questionable. But she is not the only example of a Jamaican using steroids. Jamaica does not have a steroid testing committee watching over it closely. One should not be so naive to think Jamaicans are not using steroids. . To accuse me of jealousy is weak. It is silly.
Great point. I only hear the sterois talk from some ignorant "fans" whenever the people they support lose. when they win it's because of greatness. SMH

Steve Mullings is not base in Jamaica. He was base in the USA. Blake was not suspended by the IAAF or the IOC as the drug was not on their list as banned substance but JADCO decided to slapped a light suspension on him.
@dimondgyal876 . Jamacans have been caught for steroids. And a Jamaican coach has been banned for life in the BALCO scandal. . Marion Jones never got caught either.

Yes congrats to Jamaica...But I can remeber a couple years ago when Jamaica wasnt doing so well and I didn't hear them running their mouths then. But now that they are doing great here comes all the people who are so proud all of a sudden. Then again, that's just human nature to talk trash when you are on top. Congrats to the German women for running a great race on their home turf and bringing home the bronze!!!! Always nice to see the home team do well in front of their home country.
Because they want to be seen as the best even if the moments they are not. A country with 340(?) inhabitants with so many good athletes cant accept losing to small country like Jamaica. To have chance to win you need to get yourself on the final startline. I always hear ex uses from them when they dont win or they even miss the final. Still they claim they are the best.
@hashrygeren . It is not true that he is the most tested athlete of all time. That is a myth that has taken on a life of its own. . He is not tested at times when he could be caught. Being tested at meets is useless. Marion Jones was never caught when tested at meets. Usain Bolt is using steroids. He needs to be tested often all the while between meets and very, very often in the off season. He will be caught if he is tested frequently at those times.
SwordPrincess1, our tack and field program starts at 3 years old. Kindergarten, then it goes to Elementary school, High School, College, University and last by no means the least Business Place. Yes, all Busineass closed on a particular Saturday to compete for the Champion Business House Team. That is why we have runners from every facets of our country.
