Yeah I read up on a few of them. depends on a few things like 3 piece or one piece, beaded and so on...this one I believe is also known as the gladiator helmet.

My grandfather brought a Nazi helmet back with him from the war. Has the name of the individual etched inside the helmet.

nice luftshutz civil defense helmet or also known as the gladiator Helmet the luftshutz were pretty much civil defense and also great find yours is worth close to 300$ to about 325$

My greatgrandfather on my mother's side was in WW2 and i have several Nazi pins and medals that he took from the ones he killed. As well as a medal that says "steel helmet" in german.

HiddenTreasureHunter yeah, im never selling them. He never died in the war, he died from the anesthetic given to him at a hospital for surgery.

I've just bought this same helmet although my is a green colour not black or dark blue .weather its been in fighting or just worn for protection its still a ww2 gladiator helmet and served in the second world War 👍

These helmets where given to flak gun operators and anti air guns and where used by soldiers who alerted city's about airraids

+HiddenTreasureHunter it depends the civis where the jobs of lookouts and stuff like that and the military where flak gun and search light operators but yes civilians used these helmets a lot

hey thanks man. It's not an SS helmet though, it's called a Luftschutz Helmet. I found this: "The Air Protection Warning Service (Luftschutzwarndienst-LSW) was a civilian organization whose purpose it was to alert the population of impending air raid attacks."

these helmets we're used heavily by the hitler youth during the battle for Berlin. if it's a smaller size it probably was used by a hitler youth member. nice find, you don't find these too often in this condition.
