To sear tuna you need a little oil and a seriously hot pan. It should be cooked fast so it's browned on the outside but still pink on the inside, like a rare steak.

I’ve marinated Chicken in pickle juice, that’s interesting wish . BTW those Hawaiian chips are sold in the States. I’ve seen them at some Walmarts, Target, Cosco, and probably few others

As usual, another fun vid from the (402). Not sure about "robo fishing bro", might as well be on a Chinese factory long liner. Hawaii is always awesome to visit. If you would like a little more hands on style, you and Sasch should head down Mexico way, Sea of Cortez. Been many times to a little fishing village Mulaege' (Moo-la-hay). I go out in a 12 foot ponga and flyfish for Marlin and Wahoo. Caught a 120 pound Striped Marlin on a 12wt rod last year. Wahoo is the best eating fish you will ever try. A lot cheaper than Hawaii, great desert sunsets. Stayed in a bungalow John Wayne and Lee Marvin had carved their names on the wall. Oh yeah! Sascha can really rock a mini-kini, Lookin' good darlin'.

When I fished out of port Allen with a charter the first thing the captain said to all of us on the boat was to respect their fish and don’t waste it. Skipjack is more of a pokie fish and the marlin would be a lite sear .

ROTFLMFAO, I spent 3.5 years stationed at Pearl Harbor. That's not choppy that's just Tuesday. Kauai is by far the BEST island for the aloha spirit. Then the Big Island, you can keep Maui to many outsiders with attitude unfortunately, nice fish.

Next time on the tuna, leave the steaks full size and thickness. A single pat of butter in the pan, then cook on medium low heat until you see the color change on the edges, flip and use about the same amount of time. You taste the fish instead of what you cooked it in. I refuse to eat raw seafood, i.e fish, clams, octopus or oysters A quick sear firms up the meat and IMO brings out the taste. The big thing to make with a lot of different fish is ceviche, which uses lime juice to "cook" the fish.

Skipjack tuna makes good bait for big marlin if you wanted to fish like Bad Fishing Company and gomafter granders like they do. But he also spends a metric eff ton of money between his Gulfstream 650 to fly him and his fishing crew over, his Damen 150 and now 175 yacht support vessel, his Trinity 144' sportfisher plus his numerous other boats in his fleet and crews for all of these yachts. Full blown ridiculousness, but that is what he likes to do and spend his fortune on. If you ever used RocketMoney then you supported him. Look at you all out there on a smaller boat, doimg the same thing for a fraction of the cost that he spends.

Everyone has their own method and style of fishing. That being said, I believe your experience would have been enhanced by holding the rod and standing up while REELING in the fish. Those auto-reelers are great for those unable to fish without them. I.e. handicapped or too young/old.

Tried to watch the cooking, but ........ Pretty lumpy out there. I look at you guys in t shirts, On west cost of Scotland, in that breeze and swell, you would need slightly more clothing to survive 🙂 and that motorised reel, well that was a stroke of genius, especially with the clutch, does it get hot ?

Your were correct that was a spearfish. They acually are alot more common than you think and are caught quite often in and around Hawaii and a few other places. A hatchet marlin or round scale spearfish is probably the rareset. Having caught and contuinue to catch bill fish all over the world Hawaiian s especially the charter captians always over kill on the equipment. Those 80s will catch 1000 lb marlin no problem. That lil spear fish is a light tackle marlin all day long on 30 to 40lb test.

What about setting lines knowing where to go sitting through rough waters what about having to work the lead line in there’s a lot that goes into this fishing and it’s all about the adrenaline of the strike!
