The transformers pops have the same problem as some of the movie toys, they were based on pre production concepts. Happens alot with transformers merchandise.
Hey, man! Wasn't even sure if you were still collecting. I've completely halted on the hobby myself but I've been waiting for this video, and for 'the best of the year' too!
3:57 What they should've done was have it as a deluxe movie moment ( put both toegther ). And have Lex and Tim under the car as well as have Ian Malcolm in the car.
Honestly for the pokemon ones the main problem is not that they are just reused molds with a repaint But that they are WAY too similar to the common ones just slightly metallic Because those being reused mold with a repaint would have worked if they were SHINY POKEMON POPS ✨ .For those in the back shiny Pokémon’s are a very rare variant of a Pokémon that can appear when you encounter a Pokémon shiny Pokémon’s have a different colorskin than the classic Pokémon it also has a star animation when it appears Exemple : normal charizard is orange and shiny ✨ charizard is black
For the longest time I’ve thought the shiny versions of the Pokémon should be the chases. Not sure why funko doesn’t just make shiny versions, seems like a no brainer
In defense of the rise of the beast pops, bumblebee is the best out of all of them. In person it looks so much better and has alot more detail than expected. It also has a much more dynamic pose. I liked it alot to the point i ended up getting the jumbo version of it. Seems to be the only character that was translated well into pop form.
Merry Christmas to you, too. 🌲🎁 I'll be honest. I think those Star Wars chocolate ones looked the worst. Why would someone want a plastic figure that looks like food??
Good pops could be cool but I just don’t think those were a good idea, especially because foil wrapped chocolate like that is more associated with Easter
This year didn't stand out for me for either good pops or bad pops for art reasons. I think your focus on behind the scenes stuff here really highlights that
Always get so excited for these videos at the end of the year. It was definitely a strange year for Funko but, what I apprecaite is that they seem to be bringing us some characters that people have been begging for for years! The fact that we finally got a common Indiana Jones line as well as the Ginyu Force from DBZ it is a wonder that they are still managing to keep us on the hook. But, I feel they made waaay too may in certain lines. Still way too many Marvel, way too many Star Wars and way way waaaaaay too many Anime PoPs from Naruto, One Piece and My Hero Acedimia. I think the worst one they made was the X-23 Comic Cover...no one wants it! I see it at every Target I go to so many of them that no one is buying.
The Indiana jones line did come out really nice with some good characters and versions of Jones. I guess if you’re an anime fan it’s not enough haha, but like if you’re not a one piece fan or MHA or any of the other big ones it feels like that’s all they make.
@@CollectingPlastic Yes, I only picked up one Indy piece. I added the Raiders Boulder scene and I was extremly surprised by the final product I didn't expect to get the whole damn boulder I thought it was just going to be a flat backdrop!
The Gojo pop is just brilliant. It’s like Muichiro, not action pose, but very cool, too.The thing is that in this pop Gojo uses his domain expansion, which is one of the best moments in the show.I think that this pathos makes this pop really good.I own it myself with the con sticker actually, and I’m very glad of it
Great list and some great points Funko doing some awful stuff also those house of the dragon nfts then making commons almost like them. Haha and the luke dong was killer.
My choice for worst would be the NFT Star Trek blacklight Pops. I don't own any, but I did want Kirk in the captain's chair.... until I saw that the majority of the vinyl was not blacklight reactive! Someone has the Pops under blacklight in an eBay listing and only the Klingon's face reacts to UV light. Funko did the same screwup last year with the Elvira blacklight Pop. It's hands and exposed leg are muted under blacklight.
Worst Pop for me was the High Evolutionary. His face looks completely featureless, like a 2013 Pop. He didn’t have eyebrows in the movie, so I GUESS it’s screen accurate, but they should’ve sculpted a heavy brow. Yes there’s a lot of detail on the back of the head, but who sees that?
Not sure it came out earlier this year or late last year but the new Matt Murdock has gotta be up there. It's cool we have an updated mold and he's holding the brick. But him standing is off putting. Looks like he's hitting the whip dance. He should've been sitting down instead.
This is disappointing. Vlad is my favourite character from Danny Phantom and I paid so much for him. Vlad’s probably the most costly Funko I will ever own, even going as far as to preorder him in Jul 2022. And Funko screws it up despite having the correct box art?!😢 And nope, that middle streak is part of his design in the show because in human form, Vlad Masters still has that streak.
Didn’t get a whole lot of 2023 Pops, but imo the most disappointing pick up was Kraglin from Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3, nothing against the mold or anything, but he is way too top heavy and you can only get him in if you put him up against something. Shame
Funko has really gone down hill. It is no wonder they are laying off people and losing sales. They need to get back to making Funko pops and ones that people actually want. Enough with the Disney, Star Wars and Marvel crap. Disney is financially burning down, and Funko is taking that ride along with them if they don't change course. Bo-Katan is not selling because The Mandalorian season 3 was a complete shitshow - just like the rest of the Star Wars properties that Kathleen Kennedy has outright destroyed.
