Reminds me of the Jeopardy host replacement debacle after Alex Trebek died. Mike Richards, the producer, was in charge of hiring a new host, and surprise, picked himself. After 1 week, his shady past and sexual harassment claims on a previous job surfaced and he was fired as host and producer, and his career has taken a huge hit over it. So it backfired big time.

I’m kind of suprised John C. Calhoun isn’t on this list. While he was Vice President he dragged his (and also my) home state of South Carolina into the nullification crisis, which nearly started a civil war. He was definetly influential as a politician but as a VP he was pretty bad, especially in his second term under Andrew Jackson

What you mentioned about Cheney profitting from war is unfortunately true about a massive number of members of congress. And this isn't a theory, it's publicly known fact since their financial records are required to be made public. I don't remember how many by now but I do recall that an absurdly large quantity of both senators and representatives buy significant parts of defense companies, then make sure that those companies get huge government contracts, where you'll have things like a sock costing hundreds of dollars (I made that particular example up, but that is how ridiculous it gets and I don't remember any actual examples)
He already brought up his personal issues. I also remember hearing that the misspelling came from the teacher's paper that was handed to Quayle. He said something was wrong, but was willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

Burr wasn't charged with the murder of Hamilton because dueling was not at that time illegal in New Jersey. Both he and Hamilton were New Yorkers who crossed the Hudson to Weehawken, NJ to carry out said duel. Thus, Burr did nothing illegal.

@@iammrbeat I have had history teachers like that. I have also had history teachers that actually did try to indoctrinate their students to a particular point of view. I have also seen some schools pressured to teach certain subjects a certain way by state officials, school boards, and/or angry parents. I love history, but over the years I have DEFINITELY had to un-learn some of the lies I "learned".
When I was in elementary school in Ohio back in the 1990’s, schools were first starting to do standardized testing of their students. Teachers had to set aside a couple of days in the school year for all the students in the school to sit down and bubble-in multiple choice answers in a cheap booklet printed on thin, easily-torn paper. The teachers and the school were going to be graded on how well we students performed on this boring, menial test. Therefore, as I sat in the classroom waiting for the Social Studies portion of the test to be passed out, the teacher told us all, “Okay, class, on question 14 when it asks ‘Where did the Founding Fathers get the idea for the Constitution?’, the correct answer is ‘B: The Iroquois Confederacy.’ Yes, I know that isn’t actually the correct answer, and you all know that, too, but that’s the answer the state wants.” Yes, really, she actually said that. I remember that specifically because I thought it was incredibly strange. I mean, we had just recently learned in history class that the Founding Fathers drew inspiration from many sources when writing the Constitution. Why was the state government wanting us to say that only one of those inspirations mattered? Looking back on this today, as a full-grown adult, it seems clear to me that someone in either Ohio’s education department or the company that made these standardized tests had a political agenda and was trying to get all the schools to teach to that agenda.

I think it'd be interested if you had a top 5 list of best Presidential/Vice Presidential teams. Or a top 5 list of worst Presidential/Vice Presidential teams. I'm not thinking of a basis of whether you agree or disagree on the ticket on policy areas, but in areas, such as personal and professional chemistry, success in their agenda, and integrity.

I’m glad you put Breckinridge on the list, but I am disappointed that you didn’t mention his long-term affair and discarding of his mistress. I know it may not seem related to the vice presidency in particular, but it shows he was using his status to take advantage of women. Thankfully, the women of Kentucky had him voted out after his former mistress took him to trial-and won-for breaking their engagement (something you could do back in the day, as the promise to marry was very valuable). Thankfully, the women of Kentucky had him voted out-all without even having the right to vote at the time. It’s a great little slice of history covered in “Bringing Down the Colonel” by Patricia Miller. Also, I was hosting an event featuring an LSU professor and made a joke about how terrible Aaron Burr was, and she was like, “Well, treason was much more common back then.” Still one of my worst author experiences at that job. (Also, Aaron Burr was creepy to his daughter, which is something I can’t really ignore, even if he was “progressive” concerning women. He seemed to understand they were politically useful but didn’t think they deserved respect or were equal to men.)
I didn't know a thing about him before I saw this video, but he sure does belong on this list. He not only served on the "wrong" side of the Civil War (betraying his own country) he then abandoned his new country because they were losing. What a winner!

I’d argue Agnew should’ve been further down, probably switch Agnew and Burr and that’d be my stance, I personally value progressiveness on social issues more which is probably where my bias comes from on that regard
Agreed with you, especially coming from a man of his power and privilege born in the mid 18th century, that is a positive to me aswell. Where Agnew or Quayle are 20th century men with an even more backwards mind than Burr on certain issues, which is impressive in a bad way.
WHY am I so informed about Wyoming? Years ago (1976 to 1984) I worked for a national insurance rating organization as a personal auto rates & rules analyst. Wyoming was one of the states I covered at a time when there was a territorial review. I started wondering why Wyoming got 1 House Rep (and 2 senators) while Staten Island NY (Richmond County) had to share a House Rep with lower Manhattan or Brooklyn (and share 2 senators with the rest of New York state.) I kept waiting for a Census so Staten Island would get it's own House Rep it wouldn't have to share. But that will probably never happen as long as our number of total US House Reps is fixed at 435! If the proportion of House Reps to population was more reasonable, Staten Island might get 1 exclusive House Rep and 1 we would have to share. But we would have to get Congress to agree to increase the number of House Reps to be a more reasonable number for our modern population. This would have political implications for both Congress (House of Representatives) and the Electoral College.
