Great video I remember the commercials for this bait and others makes me laugh but their will always be a gimmick but every once and a while we might find a gem!
There’s plenty of places in the Carolinas. If youre new to kayak fishing id find a local Facebook group or a friend, so youre not out there alone the first few times
If you kayak is fairly easy to transport than about any place you can legally access a body of water is a fishing spot. I've used Google maps stellite to find little ponds and spots that wouldn't even be spots for boats or even shore anglers. Give that a go
@@ryanfrancis3625 I'm I'm San Diego CA. It's a dry place and most of the lakes are impoundments and reservoirs. Ponds n back waters are not too common. But I've found some access points in to the San Diego River and in to old sand extraction pond quarries. Some times takes some bushwhacking to access.
OK, so I wet my pants laughing so hard. On your FIRST cast you catch a pugnacious little bruiser. Then another. And another. And all of a sudden, Roland's gimmicky helicopter lure isn't so gimmicky anymore. I was really surprised. I remember the commercials, and the lure looked so ridiculous on TV that I wouldn't buy any. Who da thunkit? Great video, really loved it. No way you can label this the worst lure on TV though. It's a secret for your next tourney. Oh, and the "on the water price" should be about $20 each, unrigged. Go for it!
Yeah.. I was surprised TBH. Givin them the ol razzle dazzle. These new fish have only heard of this lure over the dinner table passed down from generation to generation
Many bass baits look rediculous. Some make it in to wide acceptance and use while others don't. What did you think the first time you saw a senko? And then one rigged wacky? Creature baits all look alien parasites to me.
I caught soooo many fish of these in the 90s. My dad ordered them and surprised me with them. I loved them and wish I could buy some now! I used every one of the kit. Hammered bass on them!!!
Just found 4 of these in my tackle box from when I was a kid. Watching all those Saturday morning fishing shows got me. Mine are bright yellow. I was gonna write them off but now I’ve gotta give them a shot.
O' man, that was such a fun video! You did surprisingly well too! I think the silver or gold with glitter would be great because they mimic baitfish like Golden Shiners if you have them in Ohio.
I had these back in 94-95! They use to be the best fishing heavy lily pad areas. I caught tons of fish on them running them top water like a buzz bait. I actually miss lures like these cause you could catch a ton of fish on the same lure unlike a lot of plastics today.
That was interesting, would love to watch the VCR tape, is it up renting it out,,LOL , . I have inherited my older brothers tackle box after his passing, and he had these lures in the box too, never thought to try as the shape and colors did not strike my attention but never toss them, will have to rethink it now, ,,had to chuckle too because my brother was always watching those info-commercials like it was gospel during the cable TV days. Great video.
Helicopter, banjo minnow, and the flying lure are all great lures. Wondering, is there any lure you have tried and tried but never caught a fish on? There was one called the zip lure (blade bait) that never caught me anything but weeds.
Oh.. I am sure there are.. but I am a dog with a bone.. I usually won't give up until I get one on it. I am really liking the retro lures.. so you may be seeing more on them in the future.. some of them are so ludicrous, it may take a while to land a fish on em
So... true story.... The infomercial that they ran to sell that garbage, featured a record 18+ lb bass that was caught somewhere in TX. They plain said in the infomercial that that record bass was caught on the helicopter lure. Well, I had already seen the episode on a fishing show where that same bass was caught... but it obviously NOT caught using that lure. What a scam.
Well, it would depend on your style of fishing. But I can answer your question with this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZhXVdOCy1aU.html
Damn Son!! Ill buy those off you for $5 each. Seriously tho. What did you think the first time you saw a wacky rigged senko? Or a fat ika? Did you a surface retrieve? Might be s bit like a stealth whopper plopper. Prop baits look pretty rediculous.
When my dad passed away I went through all his stuff in the garage. I found a pack.of, I think, as seen on TV Flying minnows. Still haven't tried them.
