To counter this point caicedo got away with it. Unfortunately sometimes diving does have to be done to get the right decision from the referee. Bruno’s dive is blatantly a step too far but lots of penalties aren’t given because a player tries to stay on their feet and they take a poor shot as a result of the foul. This bad officiating gives an incentive to players like Bruno to dive

I've long said that you know when it's bad if the player doesn't start any histrionics. They're too busy with the pain to be flailing around trying to win an Academy Award. If the player is waving their arms and acting dramatic, play on.

@@dennisschumacher5895 It may indeed depend on a number of factors as you said. When I tore my ACL, I also sustained a number of other injuries so it's possible that the pain of those other injuries overshadowed whatever pain I could have felt from the ACL tear at that point.

That's not true. They check all fouls leading up to a goal, all contact, and everything else that might have given an unfair advantage. The Laws of the Game when it comes to VAR are very clear. This is not a VAR incident. The complaining for a goal or foul happens when teams are trying to slow down the game and to get an advantage in the situation. They are trying to game the system just like anyone else would. The referee missed nothing in the build up of the shot and their is not enough to review the foul for a major incident being missed. This was never a VAR moment, and Bruno knows that. He is trying to trick the referee into making a call that will benefit his team. He's gaming the system.

@@Bigboy-tm1rz hojland has 2/3 times in the season tried to play on after being foul , and the VAR didn’t call the foul and give us a penalty after the attack was over . also , after VAR is introduced , all ref is trying to let the game to play on despite any foul committed . unless you shout and roll, the ref won’t be even looking at it

Hojiland is a young player and a different style of player. Hojiland gets fouled all the time, but his areas of being fouled are much different. Inside the box is always harder to get a foul due to it, resulting in such an unfair advantage with a PK. Also, fouls outside the box/attacking third are not the same fouls you'll give in the defensive third. Hojiland is more likely to cause a foul in the attacking third, then receive one based on his play style. Hojiland is young and physical. He likes that style of play, which makes stronger challenges himself and is trying to prove himself. Bruno is an older and different style of player. He likes open spaces to make passes and us smaller in size and muscle. It's easier to take him down, but he also goes down easier to avoid injury. His body can't take the abuse Hojiland gets anymore, and that's not his style of play to be physical. You will see Hojiland go down easier as he ages as he goes to protect himself more. This is easy to see with Rashford, who is a lot more intelligent player as he's aged and a lot less head strong run in the box. Again, younger players will learn to protect themselves. Also, the EPL has started doing a show talking about incidents that happen during the games from a referee perspective much like the MLS. I highly recommend it. Especially the MLS one we're you can listen to the actual VAR discussion and the Referee discussion on calls. They will also admit when they get a call wrong. IDK the fouls in the box you are talking about where VAR didn't lead to a pk. But as a Manchester United fan and a high-level referee. I have not seen any of these situations.

Come on! The US actually has a long and respectable history in football. I think it was the first country outside of the British isles to play football. Problem is it's overshadowed by other sports in the US, but football has always been a thing in the US. In 1930, they were at the first World Cup and reached the semi-finals. So, the idea that they don't know what they're doing/talking about is wrong.

No, normally the play is stopped and the player, if the injury is bad enough, is removed from the pitch.
