Support me on Ko-Fi: ko-fi.com/bumblesmcfumble imagine squirting a son that ends up being a loser version of yourself. you'd be so miserable. now imagine he was named Warcraft 3 reforged.
"OTACON I NEVER RAN ON A MISSILE" "I'm not spending hours telling Sunny about how you hid in lockers and then found a computer to blow up!" "ONE DAY SHE'LL STOP BEING DUMB AND SHE'LL REALISE HALF THE STUFF YOU SAY IS LIES" "You know she can hear you, right?" "...by 'dumb', I meant... what I was going to say was... I'm going to go visit Raiden." "Yeah, because his stories are always so grounded and realistic."
The fact that Warcraft 3 uninstalls the old game and makes it unplayable is cartoon levels of “nefarious brainwashing villainous mastermind.” I didn’t think a company could get this bad if it TRIED lol
@@nandanthony And... well, given what's come out in the last few weeks, piracy is not only the proper way to get that game at this point, but probably the ethical way.
Yeah, I don't hate dumb action shit in Twin Snakes but the soundtrack and voice acting change is criminal and the biggest loss. Igaf that the original voice recordings were crap, they were miles better than the ones in MGS:TS.
Me nitpicking: Parappa was designed by Rodney Greenblatt, not C.H. Greenblatt. Yes it's confusing that there's two artists with Greenblatt as their last name responsible for cult classics and I'm surprised I don't hear that mistake more. Aside from me nitpicking: great video!!!
Eh, i think its good, but in sort of just the same way the original was good. They dont make anything better really, mostly just the same /worse in rare cases
I enjoyed pit, probably the one I keep going back to the most. But I can completely understand somebody preferring the other two games over it, even by a lot. But I wouldn't really understand preferring the post-bis games over pit.
Agreed. Half of (basically the only) reason I play it is for the character interactions. It felt like an experiment with the combat system, which wasn’t bad, but when all subsequent games goes back to the previous system, I feel like that’s saying something. It’s really a shame, I love PiT and I wish that was the one that got the remake instead of BIS
lets not forget they remade a popular game that was already actually kinda overrated (yeah i said it), and made it not good when they could've remade a slept on game that came a few years before it that deserved a remake more than it (Partners in Time is actually really good, people just didnt realize it back in the mid 2000s and early 2010s),
"Microsoft was more stringent on their censorship policy than NINTENDO" I couldn’t have said it better, you know your rules regarding censorship are bad when you're outdone by a company that (at the time) creates games with a family friendly content in mind.
On two separate occasions in this video, I thought you were gonna talk about Super Mario 64 DS and I was going to be very sad. Fortunately, that didn’t happen
I recall hearing that Conker was originally planned to be "Conker: Live & Uncut" and was to feature absolutely no censorship. Retailers threatened to refuse to stock it if that happened though, so Rare had no choice but to tone it down even further than the original if they wanted to be able to sell it.
Sometimes it feels like I'm the only person that likes partners in time. It was a fun but unchallenging experience but for some reason noone I know likes it
@@camwoodstock definitely. the biggest difference I can think of is that special moves are items instead of BP based but in every other game special moves are just as item based because you can spam honey to have essentially infinite bp
Most I can really think of is the special moves becoming items you need to buy, and maybe an argument for the amount of backtracking you do, going to areas multiple times and being forced to go back to the castle whenever you need to go to a new world.
I like the idea of the Fawful song. Having his boss theme be a remix of Cackletta’s theme is a cool refreshing. The actual song itself though is kinda lame. Really slow and low energy, which doesn’t really fit one of the more chaotic bosses in the game. Dark star boss theme slaps though.
I don't know if this makes my opinions invalid but I frickin love how stupidly metal gear has gotten I always prefer that than having to make sticky notes just to keep track of the story.
my man, your videos are as if a big time youtuber were making these but you bring in some of the less obvious stuff, making these feel much more fresh on similar topics. im loving each one of your videos and i cannot wait for the next each time.
bowsers inside story supremacy bowsers inside story supremacy honestly though like??? I would have preferred a wholeass new mario rpg instead of another remake of an already solid, playable game kinda late for that tho ig lmaooo rip alphadream
To be fair, have you tried beating the original Fawful's Express on a 3DS? That fight is borderline impossible due to that stupid fire breath attack. ..I learned that the hard way. I had to find an old barely working DS just to get past that part.
@syweb2 I'm not exactly sure, but on a 3DS, 8 times out of 10, the flamethrower attack just won't register correctly. The DS' and 3DS' mics could probably be just too different. Because when I attempted the fight again on an old DS, I beat it the first try.
I just hate when you can tell there’s no respect for the original. Oot put glitches in because they loved and respected the original vision enough to respect their fans love of those glitches. You could tell they really didn’t want to mess this up. They even fixed the biggest sour spot for most people. More remakes should be held to this standard. That and REmake1. Compare Oot’s approach to a remake to Majoras mask and you can feel the lack of respect for the original work.
I agree oot was really good, i have no claim on the majora mask remake but i personally found it quite enjoyable, having not played the orignal i found all of the quality of life changes fairly nice.
@@ChiefMedicPururu I thought it was still really bad. They took any strategy and challenge out of most of the bosses, simplified and took the fun out of Zora and Deku link's movement, and censored and toned down the darker/creepier bits of the game that I liked. I personally didn't like the new art style either, but that's more of a subjective opinion
No Sonic Adventure DX? That port of Sonic Adventure has destroyed most of its looks, atmosphere and even lighting and made it far UGLIER than before, with additional bugs and lower quality textures and sound effects/voice clips. And even its improvements over the original have issues. Such as: -Skipping cutscenes IS an improvement, but it looks like it cuts straight with no transition. -Mini-Game Collection IS cool and all but why only the Game Gear versions? Especially since 8-Bit Sonic 2 is SO much better on Master System. -Mission Mode may make the game longer, but it's almost more an asset flip than an actual mode. Also, it's poorly balanced, as Sonic has like 75% of all the missions to do. Also, as a middle finger move, there is a bug that can make Tails' Adventure unavailable to unlock despite how you cleared everything. And even the DX models are either inconsistent or buggy despite "looking better". Sonic, Tails and Amy revert to their Dreamcast models anyway in some scenes/when spinning. Also, Sky Deck is missing voice clips and Tikal has lower sounding clips, as if she was talking through a can. Also, let's not forget the infamous Emerald Coast loop bug in DX. Non-existant on the Dreamcast version. And the WORST thing about it? Since it's the more accessible version of the game, people THINK that Sonic Adventure was ALWAYS this rushed, ugly and buggy. Sure, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle has its own issues over the original (looking at you, Story Mode cutscenes!) but NOWHERE near this bad. And the Dreamcast original SA1 was never this bad. There's even a blog showing everything that got butchered in the process and a video for those who don't want to read.
@@Skellotronix You can play on PC with the Dreamcast Conversion if you want the original version but with DX's best/inoffensive additions (hell, they even added a cut to black to make skipping the cutscenes more professional).
I’d argue that some of the DX models and textures actually look worse (Super Sonic/Sonic the Pisshog being the obvious one, but some of the floors and platforms also just look off despite being more detailed)
i honestly didnt mind anything in the remakes except the audio mixing most of the time the music is so much louder than the voices or you have one sfx that splits your ear drums in 4
15:00 actually, the art is done by RODNEY Greenblat, with one t, not the creator of Chowder. C.H. Greenblatt and Rodney Greenblat are not at all related.
Idk about your older stuff, but your content that I've seen SLAPS. Keep it up! (Also the little "support me of ko-fi" sticker is a nice way of not shilling it, but it's like a gentle reminder that it's there. Me likey)
Honestly, I think the constant censorship makes Live and Reloaded funnier. The novelty of furry mascots saying 'fuck' the upteenth time wears thin because it no longer stands out; it's simply part of the game's vocabulary. When there's bleeps trying desperately to cover it up, it becomes much funnier because it continually draws attention to the fact it's a cutesy platforming mascot saying 'shit'. Furthermore, in some cases the fact you can't tell what the bleep is censoring allows your brain to fill in a potentially funnier answer than the original script had. It should have been a toggle, but I find that it made it more enjoyable.
About the _Turtles in Time_ remake: The word you're looking for is "aesthetic". It's the reason why some older games with dated graphics (e.g. _Jet Set Radio, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Kirby's Epic Yarn,_ so forth and so on) look fine even today, while other games look like crud even though they came out two weeks ago, polygons be damned. Graphically, the _Turtles in Time_ remake is low budget, but not bad within itself. No, the damning part is that the aesthetics look like someone submerged it in a pit of grime, making the visual all dark and muddled, instead of crisp and vibrant. When it's difficult to discern one object from one another, and all of the backgrounds congeal together into one heap of shit, you should know that you right fucked up.
I don't entirely mind the Crash remakes art styles but what I DO mind is that the CTR remake kept the style. The tracks look gorgeous and the gameplay is AMAZING but half the characters remind me of Flushed Away.
I just wanna mention that the twin snakes is the way that Kojima wanted the game to be seen, and he preferred the cutscene style in it to the original. Totally get why it puts a lot of people off thk
I believe that Conker's Bad Fur Day has a lot going for it that people don't even realize was awesome about it. It subverts story tropes, is a parody game (which was lacking at the time), with new kinds of thematic levels based on movies and videogame tropes. Each level had its own unique mechanic: prehistoric level (melee combat & hoverboard level), sci-fi level (industrial mech), zombie level (shotgun), vampire level (being a bat), soldier level (shooting & tank level), bee's level (turret defense & scouting mission), the poo level (musical), the farm level (puzzle), the underwater level (air), the bull level (dodge and ride the bull), the catfishes level (steal & escape), the matrix level (slow-mo). It also had a killer multiplayer with very varied gameplay (not just shooting), lots of fun cheats, lots of weapons, different factions, and I'm sure I'm missing out on some mechanics, levels, or features. The fact that seeing a squirrel in Banjo-Kazooie art style curse, puke, drink, smoke, kill, and pee on a Nintendo system was a hook by itself doesn't reflect that the game itself wasn't a cool game, trying not to be too seriously taken and letting you slide into its weirdness.
Ha, i support ya on Ko-Fi and somehow, ya next video has a Bubsy "What could possibly go wrong" quote show up. Nice. (Bubsy fan). I do think alot of remakes fail to understand what made the original good sometimes, but there are remakes that can pull it off good or at least have their own charm to it that is enjoyable in its own right. For instance, with the N Sane Trilogy remake, the fact they put Crash 3 physics and controls into the Crash 1 and 2 level shows how different those games played and felt from each other... and how with those physics, alongside everything not being boxes, the levels become more of a pain to deal with now compared to the originals. Also yes, THPSHD was a mistake and it got replaced with 1+2 entirely. I still feel bad for Robomodo, they clearly tried to make a good game since, but Activision... you can never know what Activision will do, one moment you're making an original Tony Hawk game, taking in all the requests and such and wanting to clear your name, the next you're made to rush to absolute hell and back a THPS5 because Activision doesn't want to renew a contract, you end up having your company killed right after the game's release as your name is now only known for bad games and to put the cherry on top, Activision goes back on that contract some time after like they're pissing on your grave after being the ones to bury you in the first place. Really sad. Good video tho, dude. Looking forward to that Tester vid heh. I know the pain, unfortunately, so good luck man.
peace walker might be my favourite metal gear game, love the hd collection. Great art, and its nice having hayter. South america works well for the series too.
I’ll be honest, I think the censorship criticism towards live and reloaded isn’t really all that big of a deal. I mean I can agree that it doesn’t make sense and wasn’t needed, but for people to completely dismiss this remake as outright “bad” is kind of blown WAY out of proportion. Maybe I would understand this criticism more if they removed gory or controversial scenes, but if anything they’re even more violent and cruder, such as Berry’s extended death scene, the great mighty poo now flips you off towards the end of the first cutscene in poo mountain, and thanks to the new hardware the squirrel electrocution is much more graphic. And this whole censorship thing seems to undermine the big improvements that live and reloaded has, such as the updated shooting controls, which makes spooky and it’s war much more fun in my opinion. Basically, I can agree that the censorship wasn’t needed, but I simply CAN’T agree that it single handedly ruins the entire experience.
21:00 easily understandable given the time period. I worked at a VG store and parents would buy thier child as young as 5-6 any game, regardless of how violent or disturbed as long as there was no cursing.
Ok as an experience The N64 Conker wins by a landslide But as a game (ESPECIALLY it’s war which was such a sudden difficulty spike), live and reloaded tones down tasks, introduces modern aiming controls, and even gives you a crosshair when aiming pre gun gameplay. By all means you can favor the N64 game but you disregarded the gameplay which doesn’t work since the frustrating parts especially its war’s turret and hallway areas can turn off new players from beating the game
My opinion on remakes is pretty simple; Ether be faithful, or be different. Pretty much every time a remake goes arwy, it's because they just could not settle on doing one or the other. Obviously you don't have to go 100% on ether side, in fact you shouldn't, but generally the best remakes ether bring the old game to a new engine and a new audience with some QoL and that's it, or they change themselves up to the point of being an entirely separate, but still recognizable, attempt at the same concept.
i think you're accurate with people not liking conker for the gameplay, by the time you get to the war level the game's controls have really taken a deep dive
Number one question by parents when purchasing a game for thier 5-10 year old? Does this game have cursing? Oh silent hill? No, you’re good. Oh modern warfare 2? Nope, all good.
Bowser's Inside Story remake may have destroyed everything around it, but shiiiieeeet it gave Dark Fawful a cool battle theme instead of that goofy shit and gave the Dark Star Core its own arena so just for aesthetic purposes I'm taking the 3DS version
My personal issues with the inside story remake is I hate the art style, replacing the pixel art with this weird smooth style just rubbed me the wrong way.
Dito, it shows especially in the giant fights. The originals art style let giant bowser not only look like an actual badass, but he also was far more expressive. In the new one he just looks like he stumbled out of bed in some angles.
8:18 actually played Defendin dePenguin recently. It sucks. You're so strapped for cash to make buildings all the time and upgrading existing towers is more costly and useless than placing more towers, despite the building limit.
I really enjoyed the Bowser's Inside Story remake because I was still a broke boy and didn't have a Switch yet. Plus, it was shiny and I could have a reason to play it again. Though at the same time, they really should've put it on the Switch. Release it for both systems, that way everyone's happy. Heck, do a compilation with the Superstar Saga remake and just slap Partners in Time in there. That way, the 3DS owners get the definitive experience and Switch owners get to experience the games for a possible first time. Heck, PiT didn't even have any touch screen use, (from my knowledge) so they can just use the Z buttons for swapping screens. I'm still bummed about the loss of Alphadream, so I'll just have to hope that Nintendo makes more inhouse. Also, shout out to the Luigi's Mansion remake. Convenient way to play it, but I can see why people want it on the Switch. I don't really care for the New 3DS right stick.
@@Toadallythebest At least I know someone who actually made a hard mode mod of Partners in Time and holy crap it actually makes the game fun because I was blind on HP amount so alot of enemies and bosses were like strong as hell.
@@goldenyoshistar1 what do you mean 'makes the game fun' do you have any idea how ridiculous boss HP amounts are in the US version of PiT? If you had the US version, you had the harder game and thats the same for Superstar Saga, and Bowsers Inside Story, the Japanese and European versions had to NERF the boss HP for all 3 of those games
@@woobgamer5210 you haven't heard of Retravel have you? Retravel is basically a mod that buffs and makes every single enemy and boss even harder. I played an earlier version of it and I took nearly an hour and a half to beat the final boss which normally has 6500 HP on both phases, had honestly a lot more than that... And I have a video that shares now much HP the boss on both phases as well as arm, leg, and crown HP amounts as well. And mind you, this is the early version of the Retravel mod.
I'm really sad about the fate of BIS's remake. I feel it does enough to warrant its existence, with Junior's Journey's Story being genuinely great, but it had to be on the 3DS, which killed it and AlphaDream. They REALLY should have done a Partners in Time Remake on Switch, since that game needed a remake more, and would have been easier to make work on Switch, and by extension, be successful.
Fun fact about PS4 controllers: There is an option for the console to play with the controller plugged in via USB port making it function as a wired controller instead of being wireless. I have no idea if this virtually eliminates input delay. In addition, you will need to buy a long cord as the one that comes with PS4 consoles is too short for this to be practical.
Tbh when it comes to Live and Reloaded, I do prefer it for its gameplay and musical enhancements. The original Conker had multiplayer but it used the god awful FPS controls, which Live and Reloaded revamped and I am all for it. As for the swears, I dont think thats enough to ruin an entire remake personally, since I still feel Conker is an actually decent game with the remake. The swearing being censored is a mild annoyance since its so piss poor you can tell what they're gonna say regardless. I just felt I should put it ojt there how someone can prefer the remake to the original game is all. Still earned a sub regardless, your content and style are pretty great
@@aureliodeprimus8018 Rare said that the censoring was their idea. On the N 64 the swearing made sense because it was shocking on a Nintendo console. Not so much on the Xbox version, so the swearing is pointless. So why was it made because Chris Seavor pitched a Sequel to Conker called Other Bad fur day, but Mircosoft rejected the pitch so a remake was made instead.
Parappa's visuals were done by Rodney Alan Greenblat, not C H Greenbalt. C H Greenblat was a storyboards for Nick and Cartoon Network shows and also created Chowder
I got super worried when Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga got mentioned, but then I realized that it was about the Bowser's Inside Story 3DS remake... and while I do realize nowadays that yeah, that wasn't the best move on AlphaDream's part, it was how I experienced Bowser's Inside Story so you're not about to hear me complain!
How did I never realize that both raiden games end with fighting government officials with samurai swords... Was that why armstrong was made? Unrelatedly, Arkham Origins had multiplayer for the same reason Assassin's Creed had multiplayer. It really shouldn't, but it was a unique spin on thing that was fun enough even if it didn't last. So perhaps it was better that the idea was attached to a single player experience than attempting to sell it on it's own.
I actually unironically think the NES versions of Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 look nicer than the All Stars port versions of the games, and the entire NES trilogy _sound_ better than the SNES versions. I always have believed this, even when I was a small child. And for the sound part, there are some really baffling choices regarding changing what sound effects are cued to what actions - the sound effect that _should_ be used for jumping on Goombas is instead used exclusively for hitting fireproof enemies with fireballs. It's one where I can concede the convenience of compiling the entire set of games onto a single cartridge is a well worthwhile shortcut, and that _objectively_ a lot was added visually.
