Thats because, it's called vocal grit. People in the vocaloid / utau community don't know how a actual vocal growl sounds like. Since, they don't even know what a vocal growl actually is . At best utaus and vocaloid 4-6 can only do grit or rough sounding rumble vocals.
as someone who uses openutau for a while before switching back to regular utau, it's not meant to have growl with the crazy vibrato trick. use the MD MG flags or use the resampler expression to switch to utagrowl but honestly resamplers are so fucked up in openutau it's difficult to make ANYTHING sound good.
u were not playing when u said resamplers were fucked openutau makes my WIP banks sound like two different banks and i can only use one resampler with it
not even close to realism imo 😭, since my approach to tuning a voicebank is much more creative and exaggerated for a dynamic-sounding result but thanks still!
It’s weird. It seems like it worked in previous versions. Like, if you listen to either of my “QUEEN” covers, you’ll hear fairly decent growls using this exact method. But I can’t seem to do it like that anymore
The procedure is quite similar. Just make it like you made an UTAU voicebank: 1. Download an app called OREMO or audacity 2. Make a new folder for your voicebank 3. Record samples with a reclist of your choice (cv, vcv or cvvc) 4. Save those recorded samples through the folder you created for your voicebank. 5. Download and open SetParam or vLabeler and oto your voicebank frok there on out. 6. Save the oto.ini file 7. Compress the whole voicebank folder into a .zip file and install it in OpenUTAU. 8. Test the vb with a couple of melodies and you are good to go!
oh no ;-; don't worry abt it tho, you will get the hang of it pretty soon. Just right click on a note and go to Pitch > click on the check box that indicates the vibrato to enable it. Set the value of Cycle to 12 and don't touch any other parameters except for that one. Now, exit the pop-up window and from there on out, you could just modify the length and amplification of the growl vibrato. Hope this helps. You can do it!
the growl is wrongly placed, a singer growls at the beginning of a consonant that is usually low to rise to a high note from what I understand, that's why it sounds unnatural
@@Alex_TheWeirdo_X3 At their respective websites, which serves as the vb repository where utau/openutau creators would upload and post their voicebanks to be made available for public download. I usually get my downloaded voicebanks as a .zip file, as OpenUTAU only accepts zipped voicebanks, whence they could be able to read the contents of the file without any errors :DDD!
Thats vocal grit. There was no audio distortion that made the voice sound like a electric guitar. Open utau is not able to actually grow. That would require a vst or vocal sample of the person actually doing a vocal grow. Even vocaloid 4 didn't actually have vocal growls.
After several experimentations w/ OpenUTAU, I basically knew that after I tested out the possibility of making a voicebank growl there. At first, I believed that any vocal synth software can carry out a growl since over the years, I have worked with making utau voicebanks growl and that made me question if I was using the right terminology for that kind of vocal texture... Thank you for sharing your insights, plus I learned a new terminology for that kind of thing, but then, i would still preferably call it a growl since I felt more at home in using UTAU. Nonetheless, thanks for the info still!
Just create a note by clicking on the piano of a certain track then, click the scribble looking thing below the note that you just made. I hope it helps!
@@UtaKure yeah, valid! For me personally it just depends on the tone of the voice, cause some vbs give me frequency errors or really harsh looping on some resamps so I usually just test some out and see what works
What…? This is an application just like UTAU, not a website! However, if you’re referring to the link I got OpenUTAU from, it’s from GitHub, particularly got the last stable update from this URL: github.com/stakira/OpenUtau You may join the official discord of OpenUTAU, if, you’re enticed to trying the latest betas of OpenUTAU :DDD!
I know that other resamplers can render vibrato growls just like in UTAU. But, what i'm doing is experimenting on worldliner (the default resampler of openutau) if it can render growls just like any resampler...
@@Capri_Is_My_Zodiac like UTAU, OpenUTAU is a FREE application and is a more modern version of UTAU. And no, you don't have to buy/purchase voicebanks since they are free to download most of the time, plus you could make your own voicebank in OpenUTAU. Hope this answered your question ^^!
