I remember playing this a couple years ago out of sheer curiosity. There's a race in Challenge Mode involving the London buses at a cave track. The problem is that on this track there is a jump that you can't cross if you're going too slow which turns out to be literally impossible to clear because the buses cannot go fast enough even with a nitrous boost. I did, however, find a way to finish this race: I had to do a full lap BACKWARDS to reach the next checkpoint after the jump and then finish the lap normally, and then rinse and repeat for the rest of the race all while the AI driver (it was a 1v1) was stuck in a loop of failing to make the jump and respawning to try again.
On one hand, I'm pretty sure the psychological horror tag gets thrown around as a joke on steam. One of my favorite puzzle game franchise has all steam releases tagged as psychological horror despite not being that in the slightes On the other hand, i agree with the other commenter, this game is so garbage that it might as well have been a horror game
That's because this crazy excuse for a video game was probably programmed by the Glitch Gremlin. 0:03 FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction? You mean Flat Out Chaos: Laughing Joking Numbnuts Edition!
"Unknown Player" is probably based off The Stig from the British automotive show 'Top Gear' as they have a professional "tame" racing driver who sets lap times and drives whatever crazy vehicle situation they come up with.
Either the stig, or one of his many "cousins" who only appear as jokes on the show. Like the American cousin, who is depicted as an obese stereotype. His footsteps are so heavy, the earth shakes beneath him when he leaves his trailor. It's hilarious! Kudos to the writers, you ribbed us good! 😄
By the way, Bugbear couldn't make Flatout 3 because they were working full-time on Ridge Racer Unbounded (which kinda sucked but that's Bandai-Namco's problem), and getting a second team ready to roll and develop another game would be expensive and time consuming. So of course the rights holders went with the bottom of the barrel choice of a game studio (that also developed Super Street, another blasphemy of a game that should be covered here), it was the right thing to do!
@@purwantiallan5089 Broken? Yes, very obviously. But my point is that underneath the bugs and Sonic's story is a game with a lot of potential that was lost when Sega decided to push it out in time for Christmas.
I just realized the problem with the character selects: the one that looked like hitman was actually supposed to be hitman, but the names and character descriptions for the hitman and the Postal guy got swapped. Postal of course having had the movie made by Uwe Boll
It might have been a misunderstanding. Uwe Boll was famous for making horrendous video game adaptations. Hitman: Agent 47 was a horrendous video game adaptation, but it was not directed by Uwe Boll.
Fun fact: A real world prop car of the Tumbler was used as a pace car at the Michigan International Speedway NASCAR 400 in 2005 to promote Batman Begins. You know, a pace car - a car the other racers have to slow down in order to avoid passing
Fun fact, part of Team6's Wikipedia page now says that, as part of that developer's history: "In the year 2001, Satan decided to flat out out cappy racing games."
I love how their solution to spawning a bunch of players wasn't to actually check the spawn point to see if it was clear, but just make it so nobody has collision.
You'd think Team 6 would take a look at the games of years past and actually put th ecoding and mechanics to good use...but they just lazily pushed 'em away saying "Nah, I'm good."
@@cyberprime9355 From what I've seen pretty damn good. I believe it had a rough start when it came out in Early Access, but nail it on actual release. RU-vidr, FailRace, has videos where he plays it so you can see for yourself.
Letting the cars from various modes into every other mode is a great idea. Give the player the option to turn it on and off and make sure they all control well and you got yourself a fun game.
You actually have a point here. I know Mario Kart Wii has a feature like that where you can toggle “Karts and Bikes” for 50cc and 100cc (you have to unlock it first though, and I don’t remember how).
"The AI drivers are missing the I in AI." Those are not "artificial intelligence", those are "artificial *idiots".* Also, the "broken, on top of busted, on top of wrong" line absolutely got me.
Im surprised you guys didnt mention Wreckfest. Its pretty much a spiritual successor to the original Flatout games. Its actually one of the best racing games ever made in recent years and was developed by BugBear Entertainment.
@@ChaseMC215 I mean Ridge Racer Unbounded is irrelevant to the topic at hand here, plus it’s another huge departure from the original Ridge Racers and is just a Split/Second clone. But at least it’s good enough.
I love the way you guys review your games. Most reviewers would say something like "The controls for this game sure have a lot of problems." You guys would put it "like a Torre of water gushing out of a fire hydrant onto the street, we're overflowing with gripes!" Ignoring the bits of pure comedy you guys do. (Like every scene with Satan in it) you guys do such a great job in telling the audience how you feel while also keeping our attention. I love it
In terms of comedy they are really good, in terms of a review they do hit the mark decently well, though it feels a little drowned in the amount of nitpicking and trying to make references that aren’t really there
I enjoy your Just Bad Games series, I give kudos to both of you for making me laugh so many times. I will say I watched a lot of your videos when I was in ICU with Covid Pneumonia and fighting for my life, you kept my mind off the sickness, so thanks guys.
"Hold up, you're telling me that you took all of your previous games, encapsulated them into one package, scamming not only me but every other gamer in the entire world..." Rockstar Games has left the chat.
I hope Rockstar learned their lesson, and won’t cheap out on remaster development again. It’s so sad when a developer that’s so highly regarded screws up as an apparent grab for cash, like Blizzard or Bethesda. Rockstar was solid, until the Trilogy, now it’s only Valve and Nintendo (arguable).
@@purplehz97 As someone who likes to think they're okay at making chiptunes, I... well, don't despise GXSCC, it's not worth that, but strongly dislike it because it's not as good as the real thing and rather low-effort (it takes in a MIDI and spits out a shoddy recreation of what it would have sounded like on the MSX (which used the SCC sound chip, hence the name), a computer most people have probably never heard of). You're probably not interested in this by any stretch of the imagination, but I know about it, so you get this information anyway.
If Big Rigs Over the Road Racing was on Steam it would probably be ranked even lower than FlatOut 3. Not that anyone cares, but the error booting FlatOut 4 at the end was just a missing Microsoft C+ Distributable file, a really common error and an easy fix.
It's not just a regular bad game. It's the product of the greatest minds of a generation working together with the express purpose of building the worst racing game that ever existed.
Big Rigs was a case of "oh, you have an engine test alpha ready? Cool, we ship in two weeks!" It's not the fault of incompetent devs, it's incompetent management.
You know it’s gonna be bad if you hear games from the same developers that you never heard of Edit: Damn my highest liked comment so far. Thanks I guess.
26:11 wow, for such an uninspiring game, they chose a very obscure, and very cool car to add to this game!! The vector w8! If you like cars, I HIGHLY suggest watching Doug Demuros video on that exact car! It's even red lol
I think the "37 Rupias being a cheap knockoff of 50 Cent" might have actually been intentional. If so that's actually kinda funny, and probably the game's only redeeming value.
Maybe it's actually supposed to be "Rupiah(s)", the currency of Indonesia... That makes it, well, approximately a quarter of a cent; significantly more than I'd be willing to pay for this game.
If you do some research you'll notice that ALL the characters (excluding the one that's the reversed name of the studio head) are a cheap knockoff of some celebrity and/or character.
I like how you guys delve into the lesser known details about development studios. I've learned a lot of things I never knew about game development and studios from watching. Thanks for the quality videos!
What you get for Xmas when grandma half-remembers what she heard. It’s not a game where you emerge from a vault, but the code should be thrown into one.
You just reminded me of an amusing moment: Back in elementary, I bought this cheat code book that had cheats for one of the Flatout games inside. My dumbass read it as "Fallout" and then I was wondering where in the world I could input those cheats in Fallout III.
Like Sims 4. You sit on you your porch, touching nothing, doing nothing. One minute later, all the neigbors and people from entirely different Cities stand around you. You are always a magnet for each and every living beeing.
Man, i used to play flatout 2 so much, it was a such underrated and fun game And then team 6 came in to ruin everything and turn this franchise into a total forgotten dead game
Wow, this is just as obscure as Morphman. Also, these guys feel like DDI reincarnated. Wii games, a lot of games with the same engine, seriously, these guys are like DDI revived.
If Team6 is like DDI, then it would have the characters from their games, Elviz, Ninjabread Man, Anubis The 2nd, Trixe, Barry Hatter, and all if the gane would have slammed like a gorilla on crack. But it slammed like a gorilla on crack anyway
I remember seeing an ad for Fallout 3 thinking that Flatout had gotten all dark and gritty... Racing in a apocalyptic setting with Flatout's gameplay would be pretty cool honestly It's amazing in itself that the series was able to bounce back after this... what did people think about Fl4tout: Total Insanity?
I remember always mistaking the Flatout section on Steam's old forums for Fallout. Hadn't occurred to me that people might make the opposite mistake, but if it's still 2007 and you've only played console games, it makes perfect sense.
Great video as always! The Mr. Satan bits had me laughing more than they should have, and it's always good to see Bat-Shane make a cameo. The sheer audacity of the studio to just cram all of their previous games into one incomplete package isn't surprising, but could have at least left the numeral off it at least...
I own a Team 6 PC game called Downtown Challenge. It's got broken physics, but hey, I got it dirt cheap with a T-shirt for $6! Still got it. I'm surprised it works on my Windows 10 after having it for 15 years. I'm not surprised they recycled their vehicle models from that game into this! So cheap!
Would you believe a buddy of mine worked for TEAM SIX in Amsterdam maybe even on this game. The seek fresh college kids (*ie CHEAP)* whom havent been beaten down by the World yet and are still open to recruiting cliches like "with your dreams and our company you will go far" and "we see ourselves as a very talented family". Only to get you working on one of the 99 awful z grade PC\mobile knockoff "dollar bin' racing games Nice to see you guys still making these videos yourselves. The high squealing voice montages dont have the air of hopelessness you got from hacks like 'Nostalgia Guy" and are also still relatively funny after all these years away
@@RainingMetal Yep. Everybody wants to see that! "You f**ed up my face!" And I hope they mention IHE playing an Asian guy in the game, who goes bald halfway through despite the fact that he's British, and very easily noticeably NOT Asian, but despite IHE not being part Asian(I'm Chinese/Filipino myself), I'm not really offended by his performance, because I Hate Everything is one of the best youtubers I've ever seen, and I was glad to hear he was in a game, it's just too bad he was in Hunt Down The Freeman, and not a game that allowed IHE to really shine the way he normally does in his videos, also, when his character (Nick), does go bald, he starts to look like Lex Luthor. If they ever do cover it, I hope they can get a refund afterwards. Because the game's hilariously bad.
The silver lining is we got Wreckfest from Bug Bear out of this whole debacle, and Wreckfest is a shitload of fun. I'm embarrassed how long I slept on it.
I per ordered this back in 2011 and remember my utter shock at just what a train wreck it was, but also the Team6 devs going ballistic on the steam forums to anyone who was unhappy with the mess that is Flatout 3.
Bro the thank shooting projectiles to parked F1 cars was the funniest thing I've ever seen. By far, this was the funniest game you guys have shown yet, batman crushing strangers cars, riding a wave of demolition cars. You got me with this video.
Flatout Ultimate Carnage was an unbelievably fun game - aside from the hilarious and addictive stunt mode where you launch your drivers at breakneck speeds, the racing levels, physics, and soundtrack were just so good. Sure, maybe the racing was derivative of the "aggressive driving" formula of the early 2000's but the game had charm and a distinctive weight to the driving. It's a shame to see how this series ended up to be.
Ey Rerez! You just reminded me of two great games I have CDs/DVD's at home. These games were quite great. Ultimate Carnage was a Remaster of 2 so not as great. But the first two were great. I remember playing it multiplayer on GameSpy. The Flatout 2 still had an active player base up until GameSpy ended. Half a year ago I installed two of them on my nieces Hand-me-down laptop with only iGPU. I ended up playing them for the rest of the day. Also to be fair, Flat out 2 Also had a Roster of AI drivers that were parodies of famous people. I remember Jennifer Lopez lookalike and Briney Spears.
Y'know, this is one of the very very few games on this show I actually own. Why? Because it was cheaper to buy the Flatout series bundle for 1, 2, and the remake, and get 3 and 4 (I've heard 4 is ok but I really just wanted 1 and 2) as a bonus, than to actually just buy the good games separately. Also yes I have Wreckfest, the real FlatOut 3.
I wonder if the car handling problem could be fixed by modding the .ini files of the game or something like that. There must be some variables of a kind which lets you modify handling, speed and health data for each vehicle.
The best part of this game is the character references and even they suck! Also why is the chopper stage so boring? Shouldn't it swing around like a seesaw? That would make it more fun.
Well the reason why it's so boring, it's because once you fall off, you expect to be eliminated. But no, you respawn on it. This could be nullified if it was bigger. Or, you know, REMOVE THE BARRICADES AND GET RID OF THE HOLES?
I checked into the original devs and thank god they are still around. They may have lost the Flatout name, but they released a spiritual successor recently, and it is great.
recently? you mean 2013/2014 in early Access (which failed 1st time, before their went on steam), changed the title 2 times before their got helped by THQ Nordic and started in 2018 with the bigger changes?
I remember getting Flatout 3 inside a disc collection for PC games. Start it up, main screen, and the game crash when I want to start the race. Gotta thank my old ass laptop for that save. RIP (2011 - 2019)
The cars chasing you off the map when you fall off is like that one scene from SpongeBob where the cops chase him and Mrs. Puff off the unfinished bridge and they all crash into the fruit punch truck.
I loved Flatout 2: Ultimate Carnage. This one doesn't measure up, at all. The graphics don't seem to be nearly as good and the action falls flat. The cars seem like they're made of glass and shatter when they impact anything solid. It's almost as though they took the console version and ported it to PC. Yes, its been said. But this game is horrible...im glad i didnt buy it. Companies need to start being held accountable for making steaming piles of **** such as this game, and a few others i could mention. Whoever made this, should be ashamed of themselves
Awesome ! You really suffe__ I mean had such a great time ! I might almost maybe vaguely envy you ! About the coat : I guess the car and character shared the same skeleton. There was a rigging accident and a vertex got influenced by the root bone. This kid of accident happens all the time.... And also gets fixed all the time lol.
If we want to get technical the tank vehicle in this game would be classified as a tank destroyer which was faster than standard battle tanks as the objective was to "shoot and scoot."
I remember having one of these games long ago, my brother loved listening to the soundtrack, and I loved the human catapulting and the demolition derby, it was always fun. Merry Christmas, Rerez
