WORST Summer Styles | 11 Styles to Avoid 

This is to show you that sometimes we look unflattering not because of our bodies, tummies and etc. - but because of the clothing choices me make. Let me know which style transformatin was your most favourite?

My favourite is #1. That boxy top worn loose with a voluminous skirt is the worst silhouette! People sometimes style themselves like that imagining that they are covering something up, but in reality that are making themselves look bigger - AND shapeless. It is not only unflattering but it looks frumpy too. No good comes of it! You have shown how easy it is to tweak: a tucked top, sleeves worn shorter, and a belt. People always say things like "But I can't tuck my tops in, because I have a round stomach". To that I say four things: 1. You are not fooling anyone that you have a washboard stomach, anyway. 2. You are only making yourself look bigger as the material is sticking out further (plus hiding any shape you do have!) 3. You look at your tummy from above, which changes the perspective - but others do not. 4. Embrace your round stomach (or whatever you are trying to hide). You don't have to LOVE it, but it is what makes you, you. You can accept that. Instead of spending your life wishing you had a different shape and feeling ashamed, accepting that you are what you are is so liberating! I promise you people aren't thinking about your tummy as much as you are. People who love you will still love you, and strangers don't matter. Free yourself to live your life instead of wasting it away wishing it were different. You won't look back. You deserve to look stylish and confident, and outfit tweaks like this will eventually make you wonder whyever you wanted to look shapeless and hide yourself before! I encourage people who wear loose ensembles to 'cover up', to give this tweak a try! Even if it's only around the house at first, while you get used to it. Be daring and try.

Always helpful to see the side by side comparison and think about what I can do to adjust a look, or possibly not buy something that is inhibited unflattering on me (e.g.spaghetti strap cami tops).

Great comparisons as always! I have some of those long flowy dresses with prints and I'm thinking I might need that top layer of a jacket to carve out the top a bit, right now they kind of create a wide column without much shape or a pretty wide shape by themselves. It is amazing how adding fabric can sometimes make you appear slimmer!

I like #2 very much. I think that the tucked in shirt with belt and boxy blazer looks so professional. I wish I could wear such killer heels but my feet would object😂. Also I love #6 and the switch from black top to white and the addition of the belt with the black blazer. Really shows off your hour glass figure to perfection. I am definitely using that look.

I always enjoy watching you style yourself and other and all the small, practical tips you give us. Would you please do a series on styling for pear shaped bodies?

I liked several, for different reasons. #1 because I like yellow and the change seemed to be the simplest yet so effective. The ‘closed blazer’ because the after version looked so sophisticated. The full printed skirt example, because I favor full printed skirts even though I’m petite and should take a hard look at myself!

Why thrifting is a better option. Once a silhouette is established as being “it”, one will not be able to find the skirt length or shape that looks best one their body. Case in point….low waisted jeans. Had to thrift mid and high rise options during those years.
