From what I understand, he used an English translation of the Aramaic texts, which are themselves translations from the Greek... and then claimed he was revealing hidden insights. A claim only made worse by the 'divine download' nonsense. Yet people lap it up? Kerching!
Humm seems it's true either way one man's treasure is another's trash. I still cannot get passed this conflicting teaching "within" various versions. ‘Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of those who were twenty years old or more when they came up out of Egypt will see the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob- not one except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they followed the Lord wholeheartedly.’ Num.32.11,Num.32.12 NIV Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? Heb.3.16 NIV When "all" does not mean all??? another old saying with a slight twist as well,,,"It must be Greek to me"
Here's something to ponder: Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me. And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them? Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the Lord will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols; That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols. Ezek.14.1,Ezek.14.2,Ezek.14.3,Ezek.14.4,Ezek.14.5 KJV Seems God has a sense of humor. When God looks deep in a man's heart and sees that man's true thoughts and feelings, God will spiritually answer that man according to that man's thoughts and feelings. It's not a strange thing for a man to feel good and God lead about his own false teaching and false theology. It's not strange because God planted those feelings in the man's heart. Since God will indeed exercise this attribute, it reinforces my belief that we do have His word today just as He wants it.
You gotta leave room for turns of phrase. Let language work how language works. "All" or "every" in Greek just be a generalization. "Remember all those guys that went out of Egypt with Moses, who heard and disobeyed?" Read it with some charity and flexibility of thinking, rather than inferring a propositional statement from it, to be compared with other propositional statements extracted from other places in scripture. Natural language doesn't work like that. And the epistle to the Hebrews isn't written as a graded history textbook. It's written in natural language, communicating with people who had *definitely* heard the story of the exodus and wandering. So they weren't going to be thinking, "Oh well that's obviously false; it wasn't EVERY PERSON."
