Yup i think you’re right. Just driving fast wouldnt cause a blown cylinder but you mix him dogging the car and putting 87 in it. It would cause the cylinder to blow. The hemi’s are meant to be opened up and shouldn’t idle long but yeah he might need a new fuel pump too.
Can confirm this happens to the Mercedes M113 series V8’s as well as the M276 series V8’s when you put 87 octane fuel in there. The 6.4 hemi is loosely based on those Benz motors. The 6.2 Hellcat is but an updated M113K based engine.
I could be wrong but the car is supposed to adjust the timing when putting in fuel that isn’t required. My ole lady slip’d up in her 6.4 & Didn’t have an issue but she also didn’t Dog it out knowing the mistake. There’s also a guy on RT Life YT who put 87 in an “supposedly” uses 87 on the regularly
@@ukayhemi6385 Yeah but you’re really not supposed to and the engines adjust to what you put in them. So lets say the owner always puts 91 octane in there and then it drinks 87 and someone full throttles it, your causing the cylinders to work harder with a mixture of lower octane fuel can cause a misfire or blown engine. It maybe could’ve been okay if he didn’t drive it hard. Or if he caught it in time at the pump they would’ve had to tow it and pump the fuel out.
That’s what happens when you have Black on Black Mopar, 392, SRT vehicles. You’re going to attract those bottom feeder, 500 credit score, wannabe hustlers, that aren’t accountable for any decisions they ever make.
Sorry to hear about this stretch of bad luck you're having. I, personally, would be very hesitant to rent any high performance vehicle on Turo. The only people that want to rent those kinds of vehicles are the same kind of people that WANT to tear shit up, atleast i would imagine. I'm more inclined to rent out vehicles that normal boring people would need - eco cars, mini vans, etc.
Bro got zooted with a lil skeeze & got in the backseat like that was his car. Not only that but left hella evidence of everything smh. That’s crazy bruh
You guys lie all the time!!! My buddy used you guys and one of the dudes he rented from said he smoked in his car!! HE DOESNT SMOKE AT ALL!! Bunch of bs lairs. NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY
I don't know what you mean by you guys, just because your buddy had a bad experience with a Turo host don't mean you can categorized everyone! Anytime I file a claim for smoking I have clear proof and evidence!
@@TonyLuxuryCars they made him pay 1000 bucks for “smoking” in his car the renter send him a picture of a half lit cigarette lol not only that they banned him for using that company anyways. One bad experience is to many. All it takes is 1. And I believe him too too many snakes where” you’re your own boss type of jobs” is where they take advantage of clients. Big facts.
my SRT grand cherokee had that same knock. you’re going to need a new engine. don’t make the mistake i did and get the “cylinder replaced” or something like that. nah, it’s like weird shavings that get into the car and if you get that one cylinder fixed your engine will seize up. bro just going to have to pay a huge bill! new motor, diagnosis & etc, it cost $13k to get that motor replaced.
87 octane won’t blow the engine. The car will pull timing automatically when it detects knock. I don’t think the engine is blown. It’s misfiring but a don’t hear a spun rod or bad bearing. The renter beat it and probably an injector went bad with all the stress on the car?
Man rents out a murdered out 392 and expects high class business men to rent it and drive responsibility lol this serves you right trying to profit off the lower class and they come back and give you a $7,500 bill.
Yea anybody showing that level of neglect to the vehicle is definitely not putting premium fuel in the vehicle. That coupled with pushing the engine as hard as he was is a recipe for a check engine light.
Thanks for sharing, feel your pain! It sucks being a small business owner and people don't respect your property. I'd say about 30% of the time my renters smoke weed in my cars and about half the time they don't return it with a full tank, even though I remind them on pickup my only 2 rules are no smoking and fill the gas up before dropping off. If you get good renters this can be a great business, but situations like this cause a lot of time, stress, and money out of pocket to get fixed plus the car can't be rented when it's in the shop.
What do you mean don't blame him? It's not his fault? He smoked weed in my car, had sex in my car, was racing and speeding in my car, abused it, kept driving it without even saying anything, etc!
Tbh I consider that a luxury/ exotic car , an I wouldn’t rent to a no star or new memeber . You got to be like Avis , they don’t rent sport/luxury/exotic cars to new customers you have to have history with them …
Hopefully you managed to get compensation for your vehicle from Turo. Drivers like this should be banned from the platform altogether. That's how bigger rental companies like Hertz and Enterprise operate. A bad driver never gets to rent a vehicle from them again.
Srry about how this renter did your car smh. I had the exact opposite happen to me, a host filed a claim on me saying tht caused his bmw to have an oil leak when i barley even drove the vehicle not even 50% of the miles tht i rented it for and treated it as my own. I think he forgot about the conversations we had through the turo app about the engine leaking prior to me renting it and how i had to "top" off and keep an eye on the fluids so after i submitted those screenshots of the conversation he stopped following up on the claim and it eventually was dropped by turo but these abuses go both ways and thts a shame. Everyone needs to protect themselves and their interests.....✌🏾
I would shut the vehicle down , he should have a low jack on that and have it in his contract vehicle will be shut off if you race the car no warnings nothing ! To much money to fix vehicles these days
At first I thought he replaced your engine with an older one, but going back and fourth from same vehicle spec pics to yours, seems legit. Always gps track these vehicles like super speeder rob on youtube to properly uphold them in court.. you can rent any street legal HP vehicle, it's up to the driver who's taking control of it to be responsible...
I rented my 2023 Rapid blue Camaro LT1 and the owner did me so dirty. Brought it back with the diffuser and bumper dented and scratched up. Wheels scraped up as well. Renter claimed she didn't realize what happened and didn't see the damage but purposely took pictures at angles to avoid the damage. They also had the car smelling super strong like weed even though i said multiple times no smoking. Even left the weed bag and rello paper and weed crumbs all over the seats. They then decided to delete their account. Ever since then i took my car off the site and haven't used it. Moral of the story, if you care about your car dont trust others to care about it. People dont care because it doesn't belong to them and people wont buy a fast car to drive it slow.
Truly what you expect when people rent other people’s cars? They are going to give them the same respect as if they were renting them from Hertz, enterprise or any big car rental company. They don’t care its not the vehicle.
So you're upset with him because he rented a vehicle from you and the check engine light came on and the motor started knocking putting his safety at risk and causing him inconvenience. Apparently he's a young person because if I was him I would sue you and ask for a refund.
You must be slow or didn't watch the video! I'm upset because he rented my vehicle, dogged it, drove it to the max, smoked weed in my vehicle, had sex in the back seat, etc!
@@TonyLuxuryCars yes but the car broke down on him while he rented it. Don't you think he should be compensated for it? Is it his fault that the check engine light came on? Those are designed to be driven like Camrys. Do you think people are actually going to go 55 miles an hour in an SRT plus it's a rental. If anything you should reimburse him because the car malfunctioned while he had it. It doesn't matter if he was going 200 miles an hour, the car shouldn't have malfunctioned while he rented it. If I was him I would want my money back, or dispute the charges on my credit card
Can't blame a customer for mechanical faults. The vehicle has almost 130k miles. Sounds like you want to pass the blame. I understand they didn't take care of it from a cleanliness standpoint, but it's a rental.
Wow, just watching this.....NOW i know what happened to my 2021 f150. My friend did just as this guy did to your durango....hard acceleration, towing heavy, excessive idling.....damn truck just gave up the ghost. I had the app on my phone and all these codes and issues came up 1 month after I told him to look after it....i was PISSED. Hope your able to get your durango fixed, thats a nice ride 👍
I feel like thats the price you pay for renting cars.People are going to step on it and abuse them and its your job to keep them running right. He gave you the money if he wants to go 200mph he should be able to.
To keep it real turo is the worst place to rent cars most them wannabe “entrepreneurs” be putting some dumass extra as stuff because you can tell most of them can’t even afford the car they are renting out , if yall want a good car just order from a company , I paid $350 for unlimited miles for 2 days, and with Turo for 2 days most cars it was gonna round off to like $550 and up. Go to avis or budget rentals etc y’all will get your moneys worth.
It really depends on your situation, if you are 21-25 there is a young driver fee, if you add the protection plan (insurance) that will be an extra cost, also whatever the daily rate of the vehicle, all my vehicles are $100 a day and unlimited miles!
"just no respect" bro you literally rented a vehicle that is known for being raced around and driven hard. why are you in shock when someone uses it as it was intended? maybe rent lesser cars
@@TonyLuxuryCars maybe you should contact turo and explain to them how a lot of the burden for claims could potentially be takin away from them if you and other renters are allowed to have a lawyer write up a contract focused on damages done purposefully to a car. smoking and speeding was purposefully done and would qualify as i am not in this business im probably missing some good stuff that i could add into there to strengthen my argument but im sure you could come up with something compelling but id for sure make sure you iterate several times how this could take away some hassle from turo, and have them take into consideration the experience they have dealing with just regular claims or dealing with purposefully damaged claims
You can tell the guy that got this his credit score ass, cause he can’t get approve for nothing, and rent someone else stuff and dog it smh I’m sorry you had go threw that with your shit.
Damn bro i can understand a couple hard pulls. But to 126 and 116 a bunch of times. This is person that never had nothing nice. You dont treat people stuff like this. The bottom line is you got some A holes that feel like they paid you they should be able to do what you want. You do what you want in your own stuff. You can't afford to buy your own so you trash someone else's stuff. He had to be really trippin to bring it back knocking.
Bro there is no way he brought that truck back nocking dude has to really be dogging the fuck out it non stop. You can drive hard as long you check your vehicle temps if you see it getting high slow down and let it cool down. So you’re saying he did 126 to 116 hard pulls in one day?
I think renting your car to strangers is an idiotic thing to do, and if you get it back trashed then I hope you learn your lesson and stop letting strangers have your shit. Or you could just keep doing it and make YT videos crying about it, and guys like me will keep telling you what a stupid thing it is to rent your car to strangers.
I'm sorry you feel that way, it's not a stupid thing to do, it's a honest way to make money and have your own business so you don't have to work for anyone but yourself, I'm not crying about it, it's good content for my RU-vid channel which is also another way to make money!
@@TonyLuxuryCars I wholeheartedly disagree, but it's your life and your property. My opinion is just that, my opinion. It shouldn't have any bearing on your decisions.
Turo is the stupidest idea of all time and anyone doing it deserves to get their car totaled. I’m gonna need a 10k deposit and a long conversation with my insurance company before giving some clown of an app my car.
Aren’t you allowed to approve and deny quests after looking at their ratings? Turo should penalize renters that do this but they face little to no repercussions and only get charged a cleaning fee
Sorry your vehicle was done like that, I will tell you that going 120mph should not make the engine have those issues. You have to get on a hemi like that from time to time. I have a jeep SRT and treating it nice wull make it act up just like that.
I would never own any sort of Dodge or vehicle that turns up at takeovers lol. Not worth the stress/troubles. Bet that dude was potentially partaking in "swimming" as well.
This sucks man. However, I’m surprised that you’re getting a misfire on an SRT. Plus all of those codes. That Hemi should be damn near bulletproof. Doing 126mph 5 or 6 times should be nothing on a Hemi. I’ve done worse on a 4 banger with a turbo with no issues. Besides smoking in your car and the sex, he sort of did you a favor.
And this is why people don’t rent out Hemi’s like that on Turo. Sorry it happened to you but the Mopars attract the worst renters and the cars usually end up Stolen, crashed, or completely dogged out. Hope you bounce back👍
i agree wit cbonardy i would never let someone else drive my car people dont take care of themselves u think they gone take take of someone else car @ da end of day they not responsible i use to let my sister drive my car but she didnt listen to me about parking in back she park to close 2 garage n when my mom open door she would scratch paint on door so no more of that sometimes u have 2 b mean thats just how it goes
I had a guy rent one of mine and I told him no smoking but what's worst he told me he don't smoke....long story short car came back so dirty I thought it was the wrong car and smelled like a weed factory! That was the worst renter ever!!
I think it’s illegal to do that. Kill switch is more of a I’m parked I turn it on so it can’t get stolen. I could be wrong but idk turning off your car while someone else is driving will be fishy in courts.
Invest in gps with updates every 30 secs. Give ONE warning. If warning fails to have desired results, respond directly to where vehicle is parked and take possession of it. That’s what I would do.
@@TonyLuxuryCars Perhaps using an apple air tag might be a cheaper option. Sorry to see this Tony, hopefully you have some options to recoup the loses here.
@@md1028 people can see that there's an apple air tag in the car, they send a notification to anyone that's near it letting them know so idk how well that'd work.
as a power host myself and others we’ve complained to turo about removing the instant booking And their response was like we’re removing it to help you get more bookings etc Basically they don’t care and only care about money and not their hosts sadly becoming more sided to guest any guest doesn’t matter than their hosts :/
I think that’s how TURO gains some of😮 the market share in the car rental space. Because bad renters, who otherwise couldn’t go to other car rental companies, like enterprise, Hertz, or budget wouldn’t allow them to rent from them and I think that’s the loophole that TURO is filling. Now on the flipside that’s bad for the Turo host because nobody has deep pockets like the big car rental companies and they’re guaranteed to get all their money from you if you damage any of their vehicles.
Broooo, I saw your Durango srt in Indianapolis over the weekend. On 65 headed towards Indianapolis was driving like he stole it noticed it was yours because the license plate.
@@bazthebaygathat disrespectful POS needed to be snitched on, costing the host all that money for no reason, I hope they get banned from ever renting on Turo and hope he gets sued too
What are you 12? Yeah just because it’s a Hemi doesn’t mean you have to go over a hundred and dog the car out. He destroyed that car in a couple days. Treat it like it’s yours, yeah the renter might take his own car above 100mph. But I guarantee he’s not dogging it out to where he’s likely blowing head gaskets, frying piston rings and stuff.
I agree, but look at what you’re saying. Common sense is not so common with people. Anyone who rents a hellcat, a Lambo, a Ferrari, or anything that’s considered high-performance is not going to drive it like it’s your grandmother‘s Buick. You’re going to get assholes who are going to abuse the vehicle, that is the cons of renting those vehicles. This is why it does not make sense to rent that type of vehicle. You can make plenty of money with regular Nissan and Hondas. Just because it’s not supposed to happen, doesn’t mean it will not happen
why rent out a fast high performance car if you don’t want speeding thats the only reason someone would rent a something like that but that doesn’t mean mess up the car tho
I cringe if I gotta lend a vehicle to a family member or employee. Strangers? And it's a performance car? Who did you think would be renting it. Gotta take the good with the bad and build abuse of the vehicle into the rental fee. Good luck recouping thousands in damage from a dude that screws in the backseat of a rental car. It sucks but life goes on.
Honestly, what do you guys think are going to happen to Durangos, HellCats and other vehicles like that - especially when someone has to rent one because they can't afford to own one - people that own these vehicles dog them out everyday - so imagine what a person who only has a few days to drive it, is going to do - I own a Challenger, Camaro, and a Mustang - I don't let family members or anyone drive my cars - my uncle drove my Expedition like a fool about a year ago and I haven't let anyone drive my vehicles since - I just don't see how you guys think this is not going to happen when Muscle Cars and V8 engines are involved 🤷🏾♂️
@@dfweurocars I am not even going to try to explain why that is not - I am a 42 year old black male who doesn't believe in bullsh*t - right is right and wrong is wrong no matter what color you are - but obviously you don't comprehend well 🤷🏾♂️
A comment mentioned the need for 91 octane fuel (facts!). You can also tune this engine to run on 87. The reduced timing may save the engine next time, while slowing it down a bit.
Yes I’m a Truck Driver and my truck is governed at 68 you can do the same thing with cars. Which is why semi go slow on the highway some trucks governed at 60
So I just have to ask hopefully doesn’t cause anything over this. But with dodge and the main customer base that buy these vehicles drive them hard and are wreckless if you rent out to the stereotype idk if you can honestly be surprised at the out come. I’m sorry this happened but need better customers.
@@taurussho86Uh scared money DONT MAKE NO FXXXXX MONEY…. Rich wealthy people take RISK. Poor people scared to take risk simple. Plus YALL talking about YALL got mopars and NOT renting them out, YALL cars a liability already not an asset.
Been watching you for awhile. Hopefully you get compensated for all the issues man. I’m a host too and I can’t imagine the headache you’re going through.
I hope Turo approves it - I'm on one claim now where a guest drove the car after a oil leak. The codes shows it turned off twice but he kept starting it and running it. I also think this is why I'm just buying Eco cars now going forward.
Judging by the business owner I can tell you the clientele is the problem. If you can't even spell "Tony's" in the name of your business how are you going to fault the people renting your car for not being bright either?
Man I rented a corvette off turo for a week long california trip. The last day, I wiped down my seats and the dash, got a car wash to clear away all the bugs, and filled her up. I thought that was just the courteous but pretty typical thing to do
best outcome i see for him is getting a cleaning fee for the interior. that car has had a life consisting of nothing but getting the dogshit beat out of it by whoever rents it which is to be expected when renting a car like that. at that point the owner needs to factor in the cost associated with maintenance and repairs realistically consistent with the way it’s getting treated, good luck proving that one renter caused every bit of mechanical damage to the car thats had the balls beat off it for the last however many miles by a bunch of different people. id be upset too and the renter obviously mistreated the car but there’s probably not a whole lot to be done unless turos gonna try to make it right
Def not criminal but can file something on the civil side. But if the dude is broke, getting a judgement is useless. You can enforce it by getting it transcribed but all that costs money. You'd lose money trying to get nothing from a broke ass. Broke ppl switch bank accts often and know how to play the system.
This is exactly why I don’t invest big on cars go the auction and get cars under market value. That way if they get destroyed I can easily move on and don’t even sweat about it
It’s not that serious let’s be honest what did you expect ppl don’t care and why else would you rent a V8 car to beat on it and show off I had my gwagon up to 140 so 126 ain’t bad considering most v6s do that now a days
