My dad works in a small club in a country town. A couple of months ago a customer must've gone in and used some1966 fifties as regular change to buy a drink. Dad saw three in the till at the end of the night and swapped them out. I got two and a regular customer who was still on site was given one before he left. Little surprises do happen!!
That is amazing that people are still using them to pay for stuff, unknowingly understanding their true value. Thanks so much for sharing this story. Dan
Thanks for the show and tell mate. I enjoyed it and learnt a few things. 😊 My dad had a tin full of those when I was a kid. Our house had a break in and they were stolen and we never got them back.
My mother had over seven thousand of the roundies in her collection. She worked as a barmaid at the time and swapped them every time she saw one in the till.
These coins are amazing. Big sized, durable, good weight, and they make great silver sound when they clanged with one another. I have 12 of them, and I occasionally take them out to play around like a pirate with his stash. Can't do that with my pure 999 silver coins. Those pure silver coins will get scratched easily. 😂
when i was young i got a few of the 50 cent collections in the perspex cases, had the round one with others like captain cook etc, usually 7 or 8 coins.
Hi Dan I have one 50 c round in mint condition . I love the sets you showed also , but must tell u I ordered the Perth mint type set excited to see it when it arrives .
Hi Dan love the proof set very nice condition for its age I do collect the 1966 50c so far I have about 56 not that many but getting there I'm not 100% sure but I was told there was some 1969 rounds made by mistake 🤔🤷♂️ who knows cheers mate. 👍👊
Funny how things change. I remember growing up in Ausralia (70-80's) I collected all the variations of the "dodecagon" 50cents which are pretty much worthless and I only have 1 round silver one..
That definitely sounds a bit strange. It should be 13.28 if you take it to a bullion dealer they will be able to check it for you. I use Bullion Now. Thanks Dan
It’s the best I have seen in that condition. I’m doing a video on Saturday night about the set! It’s definitely one to keep. Thanks so much for watching and all your support. Dan
In the 60s a mate of mines brother was a bank Jonny ,and he had a shoe box of rolls ❤his mum pilfered them over a few yrs for bread and milk due to a gambling father 😞
