This band redefined deathcore for me. When i first heard Death Portrait from their previous album, with their last vocalist, i was floored. They just do deathcore so well and in the exact specific way that works for me

It was really hard for me to get in it when the song came out but after a couple of listens it grow on me and I love it! I got me to appreciate the complexity and uniqueness of deathcore lol this was a great reaction video 🖤🤘🏼

I'm not a big deathcore guy, but this track is undeniably impressive. Probably not something I'd listen to a lot, just every now and then when I want to get slapped in the face while also feeling sophisticated for listening to such stellar musicianship. Perfunctory solos that are chucked in because the band feel like they ought to have one rather than because they've written one their excited to play and that really works with the song are a blight on the various metal genres. For some *angry* new metalcore I'd heartily recommend Boundaries and Dying Wish. Pick any given track off their respective recent debut albums and you'll get that. Dying Wish have cleans occasionally, but even then it's not poppy in the way that a lot of contemporary metalcore bands can be. Knocked Loose aren't so new any more and their vocalist can be a bit of an acquired taste, but he always sounds like he means every word.

Tbh, as much as I love this song, I think Of The Abyss is even better

Never got super into Lorna Shore before but their latest stuff with Will has struck something in me and I can't get enough. Also from the comment about new/modern metalcore not being pissed off you should check out Dexcore - "Earthworm", you won't regret it.

It's funny. When I first heard this song, I thought it was cool, probably one of the heaviest I've heard in a while, but as a song, I didn't think much of it. The more I listen to it, tho, the more things I love about it. It's definitely grown on me.

The double bass is just heel-toe. Ngl, but if you get relatively decent at it, then you can reach these speeds. you just definitely couldn't do it as long as he could, or the patterns he does with it. I'm not sure, but it sounds like he's constantly using it since there's not much power behind his hits. (coming from a drummer that recently learned heel-toe).

It's good, but king ov deception is still better. Though I'd love to hear Will's vocals on that track.

This one underwhelmed me personally, Will is a great vocalist but it feels like he's just flexing with this one lol. The rest of the EP is really solid though!

See this is why I CAN’T get into deathcore and heavier shit fully. Sure the instrumentals are great but nothing stands out from every other song in the genre. I’ve heard shit from Necrogoblicon Infant Annihilator and Cannibal Corpse and the shit all sounds the same. The “heavy for heavy sake” comment is how I feel about deathcore in general. Now I do enjoy the Count Your Blessings album by BMTH but those songs had an identity. The heaviest I can enjoy listening to is metalcore and it’s not because I dislike anything heavier I just don’t get drawn into anything Deathcore presents. Blast beats used sparingly is such a nicer effect too. Less is more and to me that’s very true in metal. And my biggest thing in terms of this dudes vocals is that yes he’s talented but who’s genius idea was it to sound like a pig? That’s not cool. That’s just retarded and sure it shows his vocal range but to prove what? That he can sound like a jackass? His cover of Pray For Plagues was also just trying too hard to improve and in turn just made it sound like shit. Again the instrumentals were spot on but I personally just don’t like Lorna Shore I guess. I especially don’t like their vocalist.
