I apologize, at one point in the video I said the 4800h should be just over 50% faster. In my mind I was thinking that the 3750h was a six core. Naturally the 4809h has twice as many cores so in a multithreaded load we should see at least a 100% improvement.
@@theskywalker8416 Yes most of the time. But you can see that the cpu is lower in temp, and using 25% vs 50%. Also you can use a game and multitask easier if u need in the 8core one. Also future proof!
I just bought the Tuf 506 1660 ti, 512gb ssd, 90wh batt version a couple weeks ago for $999.99. I didn't want to pay much more than that, and I'm very happy with this product. The screen is good for gaming and daily use and the price was unbeatable.
just bought the laptop few days ago. few facts maybe you guys want to know: playing games on turbo mode and ultra settings makes the cpu/gpu temperature too much high. 95 average. on performance mode 80-90 average. but if you play it on silent mode and medium settings (sotr), your laptop stays within 70 degree, which is really nice. for those who want a budget laptop, definitely can choose this. just make sure not to play games for too long in turbo mode, this can reduce lifetime of the laptop.
dam the 4800h is amazing! as you said the 3750h cant keep up with the 1660ti or the rtx 2060 but for gtx 1650 (what i have) its just fine couldnt see any bottleneck here. i think i will wait 1 more year to upgrade.ty for the awsome review!
Well, I own an FX505DU, got it for 1k few months ago (in Europe) and I don't think things are as dreadful, especially for gaming. Yes, the new A15 with the 4800H is a great step in terms of CPU performance but the FX505DU is very respectable overall and very decent for gaming (as u saw in some titles u presented the 1660Ti hit 98% of utilization). I guess the biggest differences will be for those who are doing productivity work. Mine has the 60Hz panel and the colors are very crisp with great contrast and brightness (I keep it in around 45% brightness and sometimes I even find that quite bright). It seems that display panel wise the A15 will be a downgrade. I got it on single ram but soon will upgrading to dual-channel ram. Speaking of prices in the US, things seem to be quite different there, I'm sure the new A15 will start from at least 1300 euros around here and maybe even 1500 for the RTX 2060, so the FX505DU for 1k wasn't too bad.
Kuya Saitama I hope it’s sooner than that. Amazon doesn’t even allow preorder now. I preordered mine a couple of weeks ago, now I wonder if it would be shipped before June
Great work Steve as always. Upgrade doesn't always mean better, I just tested my omen mark 1 laptop i7 8750h gtx 1070 Vs my newer omen laptop i7 9750h gtx 1660ti The mark 1 beat it in every game :s
Hey Steven, does the A15 thermal throttle? During gaming, rendering and all that? Also can u undervolt/underclock an amd machine to get better thermals like you do for an Intel chip?
Hi mate, i recently picked up the y540. Its a great unit and a good price, but what are your thoughts on the upcoming legion refresh? The 5i and 5 series intrest me. when will you have samples of those?
In a single generation, AMD provided a 145% performance bump at same price in multi core and Intel did a 5% bump with increased price. BTW, any other Ryzen 4000 laptops are available to you for review?
So given that 4800h is not going to get a good display, for now the only affordable models are tuf a15 and zephyr us g15, both have only 60%srgb which one should I buy, how bad is 60% srgb in real life, given that I m not into editing and stuff, or should I just buy helios 300 or any other 10th gen Intel laptop at this price bracket with similar specs, which would be future proof?
well, 60% srgb is bad for editing stuff, because the color will not match with what do you want, and what other people will see in their gadget. But If you don't do editing stuff, just go ahead, it's not a matter. But, if you are not in a hurry, just be patience. Many laptop will coming soon with ryzen 4k series. This new cpu will smash intel series :D
@OWNorDisown : I am a student, a light gamer. Is it worth to buy Asus Zephyrus G GA502 for 800 USD (1100 CAD) having specs of AMD Ryzen 7 3750h 1660Ti Nvidia 76 WHrs battery 120 hz panel. As this laptop provide good battery and solid graphics under this price range. Is it worth it? Or should go for a15 which have only good processor in this price range.
I would say go for AMD series 4000 CPUs as they r more powerful over series 3000 and as for 1660 Ti is also good mid tire choice but that will go for 1000$ and most probably around 1400-1500 CAD
But hey it's definitely n I'm so sure that u won't be disappointed with Ryzen 7 4800H it's CPU alone can play many titles at low and mid graphics settings with around 30FPS or so and in some cases 60FPS if ur not playing some intense games n I'm only talking about CPU power here.
Great video. The color spectrum, brightness, and response time is atrocious and would deter me from buying. Framerates aren't the whole picture unfortunately. Also it would be a bit more helpful if you showed the GPU and CPU temperatures while playing games that stress both. The keyboard thermals are just part of the picture.
For the best performance of the Lenovo L340 gaming you have to change in the bios the DPTF (enable ) to (disable) that change the TDP form 35w to 45w and have the best performance
I don't understand the hype around L340 and why everyone talks about it. Lat year's model cut the CPU TDP to 25-35 watts at stock and had only single channel ram, plus even the battery life wasn't great, and with all of that it's called a "gaming" laptop. It's only upside is muted, non-gamery look but that's it.
TabalugaDragon I use it as my daily drive and although it is single chanel the performance is good I made it upgrade from the ram memory to 16gb and a 2tb hard drive I use it to program and play gta v, bf1 and CoD modern warfare

@@nevulax3621 Hey can you tell me the specs of your L340? I'm interested on it, just to play CSGO, Apex and Overwatch. Also handle big-ass excel files
I just bought the FX505DU online in Asia for half the original price... It seems like it's been repacked because it didn't come with the original TUF box, but the packing is pretty much identical and the laptop itself seems factory because there's no signs of tampering.
i can't wait to buy this! on my current laptop i have 20-30 fps on Minecraft. that's because i bought this when i was 9 i think and i thought better looking laptops are good but no :/
@@RotsenGinerva No, because this is a Mobile CPU, it's soldered into motherboard already, you cannot change it unless you buy a Desktop based CPU laptop.
@@mdf345 I wish I could get the 5, but according to OWN's recent video on it, it's prospected to have only up to a 1650ti and an inferior 120hz panel :( However, NOTE on news.lenovo.com: "The 15-inch Lenovo Legion 5 is available with up to AMD Ryzen 7 4800H-Series Mobile Processors. Providing up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 discrete graphics, you can get a smooth 144Hz refresh rate to reduce screen tearing and in-game lag." Not sure what to believe.
@@afifiasri138 According to their website, the legion 7 will have a vapor chamber cooling system But we'll have to wait and see how the thermals and acoustics will pan out.
Very nice comparison, it seems they want to sell every last previous generation stock at high price before they role out newer ones. 600$ is a good prize for the older one(i'll buy it).
It's a great step up for the market, i've just remebered that the Acer nitro 5 with r2700u and rx560x was selling for arround 900 arround 2018. Ohh man and i did bought the fx505dv with rtx2060 last year for 899 and this A15 outperforms it so much haha. Even though i have to say that i get way more fps on BF V than your DU unit. Wy is that? And on shadow of tomb raider in the test at highest settings i get 62fps avg.
I have the TUF505Du , bought it last week. For the same price i could get a A17 with the same screen as the 505 , but adaptive. Would you go for it? All the specs are the same , but the cpu in the a17 is a 4800H with a 1660ti .
Hi steve, thanks for this comparison, looking one budget laptop for my daughter, and where i live, the 505DU is so much cheaper with the same GTX1660 ti, i wonder why till i jumped on your review... thanks for the enlightenment!
it should be noted the version of the tuff505 that is 1099 is the one with 16 gb of ram a 1 tb drive and a gtx 1660ti. the one with only 8 gb of ram and a 1650 is currently out of stock but was cheaper.
I'm getting the TUF 505DT with R7-3750 with GTX1650 and 8GB-DDR4 120Hz panel for 599 dollars (US) equivalence in local currency in Thailand. Is it still worth it, or go for the A15 which has a design flaw with its cooling. Kindly recommend.
It seems like ASUS are trying to squeeze a few extra pennies out of their older model and the poor souls who don't know that a newer model at the same price has just been released. This kind of thing is why I don't trust big businesses.
I plan on buying the new version with 4900h and rtx 2060.. But i want to know if the thermals are great or not and also people say there is a also ghosting??? Please buddy help me here as I am a hardcore gamer and i play titles like PUBG, Apex, warzone and Battlefield 5!!!
Gday! Over here in Australia I have the option of a 505 with a 3750h and a 2060 gpu or a 506 with a 4800h and a 1650ti. Both are the same price, what would you reccomend?
I bought the tuf505du 8 months ago for 800 Euros, is this a good price for this laptop, and are they better Laptops for 800 Euros than the Asus tuf 505du ???
I recently purchased the ASUS TUF FX505GT for 760$ it has i5 9300h, gtx 1650 and 60hz panel. As i was thinking to upgrade to A15 but it costs almost 1100$. So is the upgrade worth it or should i keep this laptop itself.
Well the Lenovo legion 5 will have ryzen 5 4600 or ryzen 7 4800h pared with an rtx 2060 starting at 850$ will you review it when it comes Steven, and yes it has 4 heatsinks

Is it possible to get more benchmark reviews on graphically intense games? Obviously on games like CSGO and Overwatch it would be a lot better. I'd like to see benchmark stats on other games compared if possible. A spreadsheet would be good enough too tbh (if you already made one)
I'm always adding new ones. I have added Control for example. I have to be careful how much I spend. Not only do I have to buy these AMD laptops I have to buy the games and believe it or not I only make $1.50 per 1000 views. Do the math, and yeah, it takes a long time to even pay for a game...

I'm planning to buy this laptop but I don't know if I should get the 1660ti or the 2060 model. The 1660ti shows better fps in some other games than the 2060.
i wish they kept the same prices here in india too but with the transport fees, import taxes, state taxes & holy mother of what not taxes the prices increase by atleast 30-40%
which is better? asus tuf a15 ryzen 5 4600h GTX 1650 or asus rog strix g i5 9th gen GTX 1650? I know that ryzen 5 4600h stomps the i5 9th gen but for the overall which is better? planning to 2x8gb of ram
Hi, how you enable the statistics of CPU Temperature and GPU and CPU Wattage on the RTSS overlay of the afterburner? Got an FX505DU and I can't find where we enable those. I have enabled the rest tho, like cpu usage, gpu usage, gpu temps, clocks, memory etc. Thank you.
not just worth the upgrade, but a huge upgrade. now you have the power of a desktop in a small form factor, just add a fast 1-3ms monitor and you're good to go
Desktop power maybe CPU wise but not even close GPU wise. I’d rather keep my intel laptop with a 200watt RTX 2080; which is definitely closer to desktop performance overall. However, once they pair high wattage 2080 (and eventually 3080) GPUs with the 4800 or 4900, then we can finally have true desktops in laptop form
Just ordered the new a15, r7, 1660ti, 16gb, 512ssd, 48whr battery (wish I could have gotten 1tb ssd or 90whr but a good deal is a good deal) I don't really use my laptop without a charger, and I can get an ssd (m.2, or 2.5" don't know what it's available, maybe it has both) I'm already excited, I don't care about colour gamut or small input lag, coming from playing games at lowest settings at 30fps or lower this will be heaven
Thanks :) In my country, most laptops don't have Windows installed. Of course I can do it myself. But I'll have to focus on exams and getting into college. It will stay mostly untouched for about a month. But hey, maybe I wouldn't have found the deal
I recently get the tuf fx505b.. it just around $300... including discount for Christmas.. and also I buy it at official asus store.... so it still worth it i guess??
Guys, I'm thinking of getting tuf a15, everything looks great except color accuracy (I've read 62% sRGB shows by far not the best image quality). Do you think it'll be fine to use (I'm not an editor or photographer)? Feel free to leave your opinion.
If I only can afford the version with the Ryzen 5-4600h and the gtx 1650ti. Is it still worth 899$ ? Or should I look after something with an Intel CPU instead?
I'm reviewing the New Dell G5 and that comes with 4600h and rx5600m (performs like a 1660ti) and that's starts at $879. My unit is running a bit hot but AMD is working on it.
Can you compare ASUS TUF A15 (RYZEN 5-4600H + GTX 1650TI 4GB) vs ASUS TUF FX505DU (RYZEN 7-3750H + GTX 1660TI 6GB) ? Please!!! I'm confused to choose one of them. I don't know much about GTX 1650 ti 4G performance but I really like RYZEN 5-4600H. I just want to know GTX 1650TI 4G is worth to play game battlefield 5. Thanks you.
