Less lethal is a must for legal defense, if you mace someone who is a threat and they still won’t stop, you go to deadly force. You’ve tried. It was entirely their fault for not stop being a threat at that point.

So, the advantage of the pepper gun, is that it has like an 18 foot range. With a lot of pepper sprays the assailant basically has to be right on top of you. With this, you have a bit of time to react. Which is the big advantage.
@PeaceLoveAndGuns
@PeaceLoveAndGuns 10 месяцев назад
Mace's own peper gel, in the normal can container, does 18' too. You don't need a hokey, crappy plastic gun shape to spray fluid 18'. 18' is a wholly unimpressive range, too. Most defense sprays claim at least 15'.

I certainly appreciate the effort you are putting into your RU-vid channel. Your opinion on this topic has some major flaws. # 1. Why are you discussing gun (firearm) safety. Although everyone can get behind gun safety, it is simply not relevant for a spray gun. With that any reference to triggering and handling is simply non sensical. Why? The spray gun is not only non-lethal it is is non-harming at least after the active ingredients are cleared up. So exactly what is the downside of mishandling? Do you own a staple gun? Do you discuss gun safety before you start to staple something? #2. The light. It is well established that a powerful flashlight is one of the very best at nighttime self defense, nighttime being when the vast majority of potentially violent situations arise in civilian life. So lets say a loaded firearm is the very best and a flashlight is probably the second best. Now although the mace spray gun could have a more powerful light the fact that bit does have a light is a very good thing, especially when considering you will see the face of your target when it is dark. It is late night, early morning and you hear a window in your home break, someone or something is moving around in the den. You can only think to grab your mace spray gun as you go down to see what is going on. You see an image and by way of the little mace spray gun light you see it is your drunk ex-girlfriend so you now deliver only half a can into her face, anyone else would get the whole can. # 3. You see some people do not want firearms for this very reason! If some stoned 16 year old kid breaks into my house, guess what? I do NOT want to gun him down, now I know you may know some people that would love the experience, however trust when I say, this spray gun will probably be enough and after he runs away and later denies it was him, it won't be his open skull in the trauma center that gives him away, it will be the dye marking. Your neighbors dog has been frantically chasing your bitch which is in heat, good time to check out the effectiveness of the aqua shock hollow points on the k9's cranium? No, I do not want to kill the neighbors Pitbull, however, I would like to soak him down with the mace spray gun. I would give him the whole can! Heck, the post office has been using similar devices before the age of the dinosaur. # 4. The culmination and epidemy of your ill logic displayed in the video can be seen by your simulated attack sequences. How many situations involve a large man charging at you. Maybe what 0%, ok the benefit of the doubt, you will be attacked by a large man wearing safety glasses by way of him charging straight after you, 5% of the time out of all violent threats. Does beg the question, why not just run in the opposite direction, however, the mace spray gun may not be as effective as the latest Glock with hair trigger and all the bells and whistles, however it is also true that my 5 year old kid will not seriously injure himself if for some reason he finds a way to play with the mace spray gun. Moreover, I don't want to gun down an unknown assailant just because he is running towards me. Mace and good physical motion will give you a good chance. I would also toss sand in the guys eyes, however I may be charged by an unknown assailant away from the beach, darn it! He was running after me because in his deranged mind it was a "kick the can" game. # 5. Last but never least, You are a gun enthusiast, and there are many like you. Your opinion is highly biased. The point of the mace spray gun is not that it is as effective as a firearm, it is an effective, to a degree, device by which a potentially violent situation can be deescalated and not made worse. Lets just agree that it may be better than an empty first. Oh and against a firearm? Well guess what it may just give you a fighting chance. Now not against a gun guru such as yourself , however maybe against that deranged guy that just held up the local 7-11 with a gun he didn't even load. IMPORTANTLY, I do not want to kill someone because I am well within my rights to do so. I don't even want to seriously hurt someone because I'm well within my rights to do so. I do however want something more than just my wit and charm. So let me think, Large can of bear pepper-spray and one of those flashlights visible from Mars? Good choice! Lets see, taser? Stun Gun? One of those new super cool bolo spider man guns? You know the one that fires spinning balls with high strength nylon cord between them. that would be fun. No, I guess the mace spray gun is ok, easy to use good at 15 - 20 feet. Will give most people an eye closing eye opening experience without the expensive funeral arraignments or hospital stay. Plus you know that mistaken felony stop that is about to occur to you right after you cross out of your home state. How nice it will be to politely state, No officer, I am not carrying a firearm on my person or in my vehicle. Sorry to cut this short, however I am seeing a large man in the distance and he may be readying to charge me. I'll give him both barrels of my 12 gauge. Please be well! MarkMannM2

The element of surprise is what makes the Mace pepper gun 2.0, effective. I tested on myself, I used it on a pitbull and it worked. It's a good product it works I get nine shouts out of it. When you pull the trigger you have pres and realease quickly inorder increase the amount of shots. If not you only gonna get three good shots and about two mist that's it. Remember presss and release the trigger quickly for more shots. Do not press and hold or you will get less shots. The only time you press and hold is to get the maximum range which is 20 feet but only if you shake the can up good.
@PeaceLoveAndGuns
@PeaceLoveAndGuns 5 месяцев назад
All of that sounds like poo poo. Use it this way or this way if you want this. It sucks. Just use regular self defense spray what doesn't look like a gun that might get you shot up by the cops.
@afroawarenesschannel7485
@afroawarenesschannel7485 5 месяцев назад
@@PeaceLoveAndGuns That why you use it for self defense situations only. And don't let everyone know you have it on you. Why because it eliminates the element of surprise, in other words don't pull it out if you not gone use it. And after you use leave don't continue to fight the attackers that how people get shot.
@PeaceLoveAndGuns
@PeaceLoveAndGuns 5 месяцев назад
Sure, but if you use a normal size self defense spray, you could literally carry three times as much AND have more element of surprise with less chance of getting smoked by a trigger happy police officer or CHL-holder. Please tell me how this device isn't a complete step down for comparable products.

The first part of the video before the attack sequence was pretty good; it fell apart for me after that. He biases the demo by not using live spray and basically reenacting the 21 ft rule test for edged weapons. Any weapon including a glock would fail under those circumstances so it’s basically just setting up the weapon for failure. Do this again with an unarmed attacker and real pepper spray in the chamber. Whole different outcome.
@PeaceLoveAndGuns

Good feedback - the demo was less too shows any failure/fault with the device and more to reinforce that hand to hand skillset are required for any defensive tool.

Thank you for the demonstration. I’m very disappointed with that weak strobe light. Proper strobe lights can be very effective but the main benefit is you can whip them out for any situation. Any run-of-the-mill creep can be blinded and cops can’t say boo about it. But that keychain light just isn’t going to do the job you need it to.

@aandyherr817
@aandyherr817 2 года назад
You should NOT rely on a flashlight to blind someone in order to properly escape a deadly threat situation. Period. It’s just not. If someone is stabbing you, or trying to, strobing lights won’t stop that threat. It may temporarily disorientate but that time is to take action not flee.
@miked9653
@miked9653 Год назад
I used to think tac lights were a big thing. Now training in self defense, they are not. You think you're blinding someone, and yes, you are, in an everyday altercation on the street. That and some pepper gel deployment device should be enough. But for home defense, nope. Folks will just start shooting at the source, thus exposing your position. Don't rely on it as a real deterrent. But any chem weapon I'm all for though.

The picatinny rail confused me too, but maybe you can put a budget tactical flashlight on it to free up your other hand from holding a flashlight, and take out the battery from the unit so that you don't muck around with the 1-lumen "light." I think that's what I would do if I get this. I'd only use it at home, won't carry it outside -- looks too much like a gun, which can freak out people and also get you killed, better to carry a real firearm outside.

Less lethal options honestly have more reasonable uses in self defense than a firearm. A firearm is for that worst case scenario, but these can be used in sub-worst case scenarios, and help prevent a situation from escalating to that point by allowing you to engage the threat sooner before your actual life is truly on the line.
@PeaceLoveAndGuns

Less-lethal defense IS valid. Less-lethal response is not an appropriate response to lethal threats. Full stop. As far as less lethal options are concerned, this product is not a good one, in my opinion. This is the thesis of the video.

Thanks for the great and honest review. I am considering getting some type of non lethal "launcher", but i have to look some more first. My wife wants a small handgun, but what if she gets mad at me? Joking, she is an angel and i do want her to have protection, but don't think a actual gun would be safe right now anyway. I am a seventy year old man who was jumped and beaten severely by two cops who were looking for someone else. I have never been in any trouble with the law and they really screwed up, but i ended up accepting a plea to keep from going to prison for five years for assault and battery of a cop. I never even tried to defend myself but it didn't matter since i didn't record it. The judge, public defender and the two cops word carried more influence and they are all buddies. I still have brain damage from being kicked in the head while knocked out over and over. I had just walked outside to ask what was going on and they beat the heck out of me, an old disabled man. I am sorry for going on and on. I just got started and couldn't stop. Anyways, thanks and i learned a lot about this one.

I have one of these. Sadly I am not able to own a gun because I have Bipolar Disorder and was involuntarily committed when I was a teenager. Doesnt matter that I was in the US Army, and am a Veteran. And personally speaking I dont like how civilians treat guns either. They treat real guns like toys. They are weapons of death. If you wanna get into guns as a hobby, Airsoft and Paintball exist for this reason. Anyways, thats my beef about it. This pepper spray gun is what I carry with me when I'm on my bike traveling and going out into the wide open country. However I fear you're being a little overzealous with trying to prove less lethal options as inferior. This particular product? FAR from ideal. I agree with that. A JPX or HIGH powered paintball gun firing kinetic or tear gas / mace rounds? Quite a different story. (I'd never choose to carry this mace gun because it's a glorified squirt gun. NO kinetic force. That should NOT be uncderestimated and makes a HUGE difference. A nose breaking mike tyson punch to the face combined with both tear gas AND mace? Effective.) With the "assault" roleplay, I couldn't help but notice the "attackee" stood firm and did not even TRY to run...First instinct in that VERY unlikely situation (a total stranger you do not know making a MAD sprint for you with a knife ready to kill) is F*CKING RUN. Running is always the first instinct. Gain some distance. Realistically you would be hoofing it away from the attacker, IDEALY into a crowded area where help could be obtained and IN that process, have the mind to draw your weapon and use it as soon as a safe oppurtunity presents itself. Hopefully that was all completely in jest and you were just cracking a joke...because in mose self defense situations that an average person (not a career criminal, doesn't have a list of enemies wanting to kill them a mile long, not armed security or police, etc.) would find themselves in, none of what that roleplay presented would ever be an issue.

Well, first of all, I don't try and make the argument that a firearm is better than a less lethal. I state that as fact in the beginning and move on completely from there. The argument I am making with the Tueller Drill and is that with ANY defensive item, real guns included, a hand to hand skillset must ultimately be relied upon. I'm pretty sure this is almost explained verbatim in the video. The Tueller Drill isn't intended to be an exact simulation of any and all defensive scenario. It's a popular drill that is demonstrative of dedicated melee attackers vs defenders that have not drawn a defensive item yet. The Tueller Drill proves my point, that defensive hand to hand skillsets must be trained as the ultimate fallback, perfectly. Thanks for the comment and do please consider subscribing!

Fantastic Review. By the way, I live 10 minutes away from Houston, so hello neighbor. Anyway, thanks for the info. I think I'll end up buying this anyway since I don't intend on using it on a human attacker. I just read this morning that a woman lost both arms in a dog attack. I'll probably buy a real gun at some point, but I am exploring something that can repel an animal but won't leave my ears ringing. I have an interest in this gun spray because you can't accidentally maze yourself due to the gun shape. Self mazing is something that has happened even to experienced police officers. What's good for repealing animals?

@@PeaceLoveAndGuns the beginning when you said about don’t point etc. sorry I have a habit of making comments at the exact moment I watch something on here instead of waiting till the end. Btw what do you recommend for scaring off dogs? I been thinking of getting a pepper gun like the one you show. Pepper spray just comes back at me. I need something to hit them and perhaps let out pepper stuff.

Something like this might work, then. Why do you find yourself needing to scare dogs off often? Bike riding? Protecting livestock?

Just a little advice cause I couldn’t finish your video. Went somewhere else to find out what I need to know. 1. Get to the point. You drag on and on and I got bored. 2. You are very monotone. It’s like you are attempting to hypnotize us or put us to sleep.
