WORTHY OF THE HYPE?! CK3 ROYAL COURT REVIEW 

Adds language system, but no language barrier. PALM MEET FORHEAD! Such a missed opportunity for intrigue and relationships. Still nice that their is more CULTURE in the game now.

I was pretty excited for this dlc…like four months ago. One of my biggest gripes with CK3 was the lacking flavor. In my opinion, if they’re going to take so long to release a major dlc they need to be releasing more flavor packs and free flavor updates. If I open up the game and get the same ‘distressed maiden in tower’ event when romanticizing my wife I’m going to lose it. With CK3 we’ve inched into the AAA pricing range for games and I don’t think it’s fully deserved. It’s all relative but $30 can get you fully fleshed out games with more content than Royal Court will add, whilst not pushing us towards the $200 dlc backlog of games like EU4, though this is more of a criticism of the dlc model in general.

They should have been releasing flavor packs and or event packs every quarter.

€30 euros seems expensive for not a great deal of content compared to a HOI4 DLC which are only €20, i will wait for a sale

I only saw the price tag when I went to buy it - at first I thought I got to wrong page. I expected to see something in the £10-15 range, nearly £30 is way too much for a few extra mechanics and features.

As someone who played a full game from 867 to 1453, I am definitely looking forward to playing this expansion and seeing how much it'll add to another full length run.

For me, as a PC player, pretty much everything I'm interested in that this update brought was already available via the modding community. I appreciate bringing good mods into the vanilla experience, but at this price, no thanks. Too expensive for too little 'new' content.

30 euros.. that's half a triple A game. Honestly they should give it for free since the original game was way too empty and the wait was so long.

30 bucks for something that should have been in the base game? Makes me wanna change my opinion on the base game knowing theyre just gonna leave integral parts out just so they can juice their profits. The steppe throne room is completely inaccurate even though they had Kings and Generals make a sponsored video on it….

Finally, someone said that reaching a high grandeur level is a little too easy! I was perplexed about it yesterday but never found someone discuss it. There should before challenge. Generally, the dlc is pretty good but it's received too many expectations from the community so now it receives mixed reviews on steam, unfortunately

I spent a full play-through from 867 to 1453 in CK3. My impression was less than underwhelming. As a mix of grand strategy and role playing game it doesn't do neither really well mostly due to lack of content. CK3 events are shallow, unpolished and crude at best. Most annoying, however, I found the mana system that lets the player grind for various bonuses on both, the character and the house. I consider this mana grinding very boring and I too often missed why my ruler or my house deserved to be upleveled. They could have done more in the role playing segment where every up-leveling is hard earned work and the game makes sure the player know why. Although having bought the Royal Edition back then I have not yet touched Royal Court because of the underwhelming base game and the many bad reviews of Royal Court on Steam. So I started watching reviews on YT. Yours is the first I'm taking serious. You come down to the point. You are not trying to indoctrinate why Royal Court is a good product by raising your voice or sound more excited than a 4-year old kid getting a chocolate bar. Thank you for that. Now I will give Royal Court a try.

One of the oddest DLC releases. Pretty much every youtuber gives it a positive review, yet the regular players talk trash about it. While I agree that it's a bit pricey, I'm more inclined to agree with the positive reviews.

I like the look of this DLC but I want to get better at saving money. So I will just wait until it goes on sale. That said, hearing you be so happy about it is very charming and I really like your videos!

I'm enjoying it a lot. There's a lot more events it feels like. My biggest issue is there isn't a court for a tribal king. It pigeon holes you into playing the late start to experience the big thing of the dlc

I said it somewhere else as well. This will complement a restart of my Hellenic Rome Selarino start just by virtue of the fact that it will give me shit to do while waiting for conversions and other things.

Paradox are genius. Leave out some content and milk the fans. Partly why I can't get into this game. Spend a fortune on getting the ultimate experience. It's a shame.

the english are a prime example of a peoples culture that changed by taking on the traditions of outsiders over time first the Romans then the Saxons followed by the Danes and finally the Normans.

I'm sorry but for me there is nothing in Royal Court gameplay wise that couldn't have been added in a patch or even launch, at half the price it's a tough sell and a very worrying sign for the future. The throne room is already starting to annoy me as I would rather they just added the mechanics to the game without the unecessary and pointless gfx, they really don't add anything tangible for me. FWIW I bought the Royal Edition for PC and PS5, I know that sooner or later one will get left behind as the cost of the game goes up, which it will, CK2 has shown us the future of Paradox, namely expensive and aggressive DLC releases. Also this was delayed, why? It's so shallow it beggars belief.

Your comparison to CK2 is insane, CK2 is a horrible game to play and the more dlc the worse the interface got. CK3 is so much better out the gate.
