The game is completely screwed. Wargaming has literally fked it. Pretty sure this game does more harm to your health than heroine and cocaine combined.

Guys! Look from 2:37. This is just unbelievable. EBR90, Strv 103 and AMX50 120 retreating IN PANIC, simultaneously. There is encouragement going on in the chat. Meanwhile Strv 103B dies and typing "EBR BOT". EBR starts to shoot Claus and chasing him probably mistaking him with dead Strv. It's just a shitshow.

I've been wondering if MM decides based on previous day results. I'm getting one day where I win 60% or better. Its inevitably followed by a day of 30% win. Same vehicle similar number of games. I can't figure out why the wild swings except that MM is putting a thumb on the scale. Its also RNG. Some days I can't hit the inside of a barn while others the hit rate is slick as snot and I hit on even the most improbable shots.

Boosters? That decreases your accuracy, and increases the rate of muppets per regular player on your team

Claus haven't we had this discussion before...I have been saying the match maker stacked games from 3 or 4 years. I first noticed it happening live on another stream that the streamer used XVM and then began documenting it. I collected screen shots and replays and when I sent it to wargayming the response was that they were aware of it but were unsure why it happened and had no plans to look in to it or do anything to fix it. Routinely the newer or worse players are placed on one team and the better players on the other. And that is particularly why I don't play as much anymore.

I quit this game 2 years ago, mostly because of rigged MM and because 90% of tanks in battles were pay to win premiums. I never looked back. Now, its 2021 and people are still wondering if MM is rigged to balance the winrates??? Not only is it well documented online, its also patented and literally written in the user agreement... You could determine the outcome of the battle in the first 5 seconds of the game by driving out of spawn... Vehicle feels sluggish? First shot into the air on the edge of the aiming circle? Spotting distance feels off? You can feel the nerfs. And it wasn't per battle, it took days of defeat streaks for the game to balance out your account if you had a good winrate week. Bottom line is, its a heavily pay to win game, of course its cheating, rigging, scamming and manipulating players to get as much money as they can.

Hmmm, I thought I was the only tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist when it came to Match Maker and Personal reserves RNG.

One of my tank friends keeps mentioning and writing wargaming, about how the matchmaker in this game keeps putting 8-10k rated players on one side against 4-6k rated ones on the other. I see it happen all the time. Yet WG keeps telling you it's not rigged.....yeah ok.

Can't even believe that question is being asked aloud at this point. There is no way this game operates, as it is, without mm picking winners. Play any tank (other than a Russian) and you can tell within the first 2 shots if mm chosen you to win or lose. Inexplicable misses and/or bounces right off the bat is the tip off.

If I win big one day, you can pretty much guarantee I'll do badly the next. There is never any middle ground in my experience. Randomness is by its nature random, but the predictability of winning streaks being almost equally balanced by losing streaks is in itself highly suspicious.

For 8 years skill-based mm has been discussed and WG keeps from implementing it, for fear of not being able to squeeze more money out of the player base.

This seems pretty straightforward to me. This is a free to play game, so the only way they can survive is to motivate players to send them cash for something other than the privilege of just playing the game, right? So how do you do that? The old "free to play, pay to win" model has been proven to be unsustainable over time so they need another motivation. These guys seem to have decided that the way they want to do it is to make the grind to unlock decent tanks so unbelievably slow and miserable that players will eventually gladly give them cash just to speed up the process and relieve the pain, even if only a for a few matches. Our time is valuable, and most of us don't want to spend the literally years it would take to get to the tanks we want, and that is why they put the unwinnable matches in your queue. (I know wargaming says they are no "unwinnable matches" but they are just lying about that as we all know.) Their entire system is designed to slow down your progress in dozens of small ways which is why it's sometimes hard to see. But it is an extremely rare experience to play WoT for any length of time and not come away with the distinct impression that you have just been robbed. And that is because you have. What fools people is that you haven't been robbed of your money or your performance, those are on you. What you have been robbed of is your TIME, which is far more valuable, damn hard to actually prove, and impossible to get back. My advice is either just play the game against the AI for the enjoyment of driving tanks and blowing stuff up, or play PvP and spend your cash so you can at least be competitive. Otherwise, you are in for massive frustration because yes, the game decides in many cases whether you are going to win or lose before the match begins.

The +25%-25% on both damage and penetration doesn't help the poor matchmaking (and Low Pop for NA); it's a perfect storm to create 15-0

I played one game last week and I plan to play less games this week. This game isn't fun anymore.

i think the game randomly decides your gun's sigma value before the matches, too. there are some battles where i think "if i had the same sigma as this f*&king gun i could throw myself at the ground and miss." peace (from the UK)

World of Tanks uses MM and RNG to weight the out come of matches. Claus you are absolutely right. I have 90,000 matches on world of tanks. It is my observation and experience over many years that the game is absolutely not random. I have played many other games and thousands of matches and I can tell World of tanks is not random. The only thing random in this game is the individual name you put on your account which World of tanks calls an element of randomness. WOT uses a very sophisticated MM algorithm to control the difficulty of your match based on the tank you selected to play and where you are in the algorithm program. MM even places you on the map side based on win percentage then selects your teams experience and capability of each tank from all the players in que. During the match, WOT uses the RNG algorithm to control your aim, your pen, and your damage for each shot based on which team is weighted to win. My guess is a large percentage of all games are easy wins or easy losses. Only a small percentage of games are neutrally balanced so that skill and strategy represent the outcome of the game. In reality the game is RIGGED. Most players cannot see or notice the rigging. The most frustrating part of playing is when you are outmatched and wot turns our tank completely off with the RNG algorithm so you cannot hit or pen and get little damage during the match. IF WOT wants you to lose, you are going to lose and absolutely have no change to win.

Back when i tried to play this game i was constantly being matched with players that had 60k+ games played, i had about 500 games with my stock tank and basic crew so yes, whoever was matched with the most veteran players won since we(new players) were getting destroyed.

I've played WoT for a short period of time where "Light Tanks" got matched like "Medium Tanks" of next higher tier +2, so you started your game in a tier 5 light tank vs. tier 8 tanks... congratulations! I don't remember much from this time about the gameplay or the so called "Meta" of the maps, but I remember that most of the time it was definitly NO FUN, just -frustration. I tried to play between 5800 and 5900 battles, had a "winrate" between 52.03 and 52.19 as "Top Rates". I remember the data because I wrote some of them down. I had a so called "Premium Account" because my attitude is to pay for GOOD work. Then I realized the numbers. In 81.3 % of my games I fought as a low-tier against tanks one or mostly two tier classes higher than mine. For the rest (round about 19% of my games) I had equal tier classes or in some very rare situations a "High Tier" position (+1 or +2). But I clearly remember my last WoT game. Playing with a tier 5 tank (don't remember Medium or Heavy) in a (of course) low tier situation with another tier 5 tank against (except one other tier 6 tank) a nearly full stack of tier 7 tanks. I fired 42 shots, hit 40 times (don't remember how many breakthroughs), ammo nearly empty; it was the 6th or 7th game in a row and finally the daily victory with this tank. Survived the low tier situation with a few hitpoints and got out of this with 0 (yes, ZERO) points of damage made. I remember my rate of frustration and my thoughts about being obviously incompetent playing this game. I remember so many games feeling like a sitting duck, losing so many games in rushes between 0:15 up to 4 or 5:15. I'm following and observing WoT since then, looking good videos from guys like you, Claus and think about this game (because the basics are great). I served in the German Army in a tank batallion, driving the Leopard 2A1-A3 (so in the 80's), so lets skip the point of "realism". Today I work as a hard- & software developer for pc games so I think that I'm a little bit qualified to say something about WoT. It is definitly Pay-to-win for the ordinary player. If you have no job, no family, no friends and nearly no real life duties (or if you earn money with producing RU-vid videos) and if you invest money you will be successful (most of those players). Some may be exceedingly talented (I don't want to offend anybody). It takes a lot of time to learn about nearly EVERY tank and every class, their armour- and penetration rates for different kinds of ammunition, the weak-spots, knowing every place on every map where you have to go with the tank you actually drive, "reading" the setup of the match in the 30 seconds before the game starts, recognizing and realizing where you may expect the tanks of the enemy team etc. I admire the gamers being able to fulfill all of these imperatives. I don't think that any really ordinary gamer (playing to relax for 1 or 1,5 hours a day) can reach these spheres of being "top of the list or rankings". Until today I have fun looking game videos about WoT, watching how really good players make the difference and rule the match and dominate the rest of the 29 players. I like the game, but only as an audience (don't want to loose a word about the "matchmaking" or this inexpressible "RNG-Factor") and I think that WG ruins this game with every patch and update a bit more, until it is totally degenerated.

MM does a decent job matching up equivalent tanks between teams, but it does nothing to compare players across the lineup. It would be really easy for them to swap players between teams by whatever metric they choose to even things up.

My average is between 49 and 51% on every one of my tanks but my T25/2 at 43% even when I do well in the battle we lose... I think you're onto something Klaus.

Sometimes you can tell who will win and lose by looking at the icons next to the players. As a rule of thumb icons with a blue back ground and gold stars end up being grind players. Players with full campaign honours at least seem to understand the mechanics. What ruins the game the most is players being able to skip tiers and buy into higher tiers with premium tanks. Players should pass basic tests before they can climb tiers adding value to later tiers. When I first played this game higher tiers meant higher skill to some degree but now...

Once you realized that the matchmaker, in essence, decides if you will have streak of win or losses - there is no point in playing anymore. One would think WOT would understand that, but no.

I did some back of the envelope maths there other day. I've hit and EBD with 122mm gun on an OBJ703 v2 twice and it's wheel wobbled a little. The EBR weighed about 12t. My quick calculation worked out that my shells hit with a force of about 7t! How in the name of all that is holy can a car be hit (twice) with a force of over 2/3 it's mass an do anything but disintegrate?

WG decides my lose when i play my OBJ 777 II.. DMG average is over 1000 but always lose..

But somehow comforting to see that I am not the only one dealing with huge amounts of disappearing shells, bounces off light tanks and shells that tend to hit more towards the outer circle than the centre. lol

Every other game sets up MM based on skill level. WG claims it's impossible.

Because we need skillbased mm….. just have a look at player stats (xvm) at the beginning of the battles. In many cases you can predict the outcome at start with all muppets on one side

The Strv 103-0 is currently on discount for the "On Track" event. It is rigged AGAINST those tanks during the "On Track" events. Play it after the event is over and you will see improved results. My experience has been that when I try to level a tank that is involved in the "On Track" events, the performance is ALWAYS worse.

I watched several of my own replays where shots either went completely through the EBR105, or strangely enough, curved around them…that’s when I stopped playing.

They know how good you are so the only way to balance the teams is to give you 14 muppets against 15 unicums.

I feel your pain Claus, mine was 19 consecutive loses, WG is truly diabolical.

When WOT first came out they stated that all battles are predestined before the battle starts.

Every time I consider reinstalling this game, I make sure I watch a few videos first. It saves me the massive headache of actually installing and playing.

I wrote about year ago exactly how game works. No point to stress. You can shoot in the air all bullets or you can try to hit the enemy tank. At the end game will always drag you to 50%

I recently did some statistical analysis over 100 battles across several days on the NA server. The average number of remaining tanks on the winning side was approx. 8, that's over half the starting team count. In 25% of battles, that number was greater than 10 tanks remaining on the victorious team. Only 10% of battles had a delta of 5 tanks of fewer remaining. If battles were reasonably balanced, that final percentage should be at least 50%. Anything else is indicative of one-sided battles with one team melting due to inferior overall player competence. Although I like to win battles, I don't mind losing providing there has been some level of challenge. I neither wish to win easy, or lose hard.

You can watch RNG kick in to help a team win or lose. Watch the winning team keep scoring fires and ammo racks while the losing team keeps missing or bouncing.

MM is part of the formula wg uses to determine who wins and loses, the biggest tool for determining the out come of a game is RNG of shots...They give the team the want to win a lot better RNG of shots. I can tell a win or loss just based on my first 6 shots fired.

Short answer: Yes, it does. I stopped using boosters as they seem to make gameplay, accuracy and MM even worse.

I believe that where your tank starts the game leads the player, especially slower tanks, to choose to advance right side or left, to gain cover/position. Player metrics may also being used, examples average survival time, average damage felt, recent quality of game play.. on and on...

Three days ago I played 20 games. 19 games our team rolled over the enemy in about 3 minutes. Sometimes so fast, I saw no enemies. Two days ago I got 1 win out of 20 games, we got rolled 19 times. Yesterday, got rolled 24 times. We rolled the enemy 3 times. So, in 64 games, which has a potential 960 minutes, I spent 256 in what might be called "game play".

Here's how MM works: all guys who spend the most on their tank in the queue are put into one team so they can compete on the damage. The other team is just filled with the average to bad players.

To quote the great Claus Kellerman- "In every game, one team wins and one team losses......... Balance"

I shot a tank in the side perfectly 4 times with green aiming at a perpendicular angle and they all bounced from short range. So yes, the games are 9/10 already decided. And that EBR is a man child. Anyone who plays those tanks are POSs anyways.

It used to be "the team with the most Objects wins" but that has all changed to "The team with the best EBR wins". When WG figures this out they will introduce a Russian wheeled branch!

The match maker is like the dealer in a poker match with 2 players, each representing a team in WOT. The cards dealt to each team/player are totally random and sometimes the cards are so much in favor to one player, that the outcome is pretty much determined when the cards are dealt, but other times the skill of players can overcome the cards.

Yes. The game is mostly simulation at the minute.. I would not mind if the simulator BOT's are a mixture of good and bad but they are mostly amazingly good. I'm a green player and often I loose 10 games in a row! I get spotted when i'm in a bush with a ELC EVEN 90 (great crew) by enemy heavies 200 metres away then get shot 4 times in 3 seconds and its game over. My 6 sense doesn't even go off before i'm dead sometimes.. if i'm lucky i get to spend credits on repairing my gun or ammo rack before then dying. Love the channel Claus and I love the concept of the game.. but the reality at the minute is the random battles suck :)

I have asked these same questions , for years . Wargaming is not concerned about broken matchmaking. That's why I stopped giving them ANY money, years ago. I have 68k battles. I wonder what players with 500 battles , think about having to play game after game , with people that are on a complete different skill level than they are. How long would they continue to play the game? Seems like a horrible business plan on Wargaming's part.

For some reason it wouldn't pay to introduce, say, an XVM-based matchmaking. Equal or near-equal number of purples, blues, yellows, reds etc. on each team. WG are fine with one team having a platoon of top-tier 3 purples vs all yellows and reds.

I think that when I get premium time I always have BAD matches like 15-4 blow outs over and over. Thats probably how they balance giving out extra credits while you have premium time..

you bet it does it either likes you or hates you, when it likes you, you cant loose, and when it hates you, you cant buy a win. I think it stacks with the RNG for your gunner accuracy, I believe that it also rolls low rolls gunners accuracy for the whole team that is supposed to loose, while rolling high numbers for the other team.

Four minute 15-5 games make them more money.

I can't tell you the last time I came back out of an 0-3 0-4 deficit. Used be you had at least a 20% chance of having a comeback....now ? It's over..

Tolly the Terrible likely has XVM and saw the stats of the enemy team and determined correctly it was a loss and didn't bother to try.

The match making is one of the biggest reasons I stopped playing over a year ago. Just because I am a decent player I get NERFED and the worse players on my team also the maps are designed to give one team an advantage while the other team a disadvantage sad there killing the game I spent so many years playing.
