I miss when they used to put screen grabs from the stories on the box. You notice that? They just don't have that anymore, and in this case it works in the sets' favour since people can't see what a joke that Borusa head is!

It would be nice to see things like that included again, but it also wouldn't surprise me if there was some licensing reason behind that too. As for the head I think that's putting it a little bit strongly, as I say in the video I don't disagree that an updated head sculpt would have been nice but it really isn't that far off and again (even though I know people don't like to hear it) there is probably a very good reason why it wasn't done.

I think that will certainly be a popular use for them!

Where I live, there are five branches of B&M. One large one, and four out of town huge ones. Not one has had any of the recent Doctor Who figure sets. Nasty bobbly Dalek sets - which never seem to decline in numbers on the shelves - and a few of the older figure sets, but new sets? No. They really need to get their distribution sorted. I know that they are probably a tiny part of a fraction of what B&M sell, but it's becoming somewhat annoying. I really wish that you could buy them direct from Character Options.

Unfortunately I'm very much in the same boat, my nearest one is about 10 mins up the road but they never get all the sets, and my next nearest one is about 40 mins on a bus and a 10 minute walk and they barely get anything. Although I will say it's refreshing to see somewhere understand that it's B&M that are responsible for the poor distribution! Far too many people blame CO for that! Not to mention there's several B&M stores who basically sell all their stock directly the scalpers so they never even see the shelves!

Well each stroke of paint is priced by the production company as deco and if the budget only is there for a certain amount of deco per figure then some things need to be cut thats the reason.

Lots of people do underestimate/don't realise how much things like detailing can affect the budget to be fair, that's why as much I would have liked for the collars to be done all over I can appreicate there would have been a reason

I am happy with this set they all look fantastic, hopefully we can get more headsculpts of other classic series Timelords. In all fairness this version of Borusa may not look like his actor does in the Deadly Assasin, he does look like one his second actor who plays him in the Invasion of time, so I guess you could use him as that variant of Borusa, if you add a few extra paint apps to the sculpt. I have rewatched deadly Assassin very recently and there was no mention of Timelords having 13 lives from memory, perhaps 🤔 you did get it confused with Invasion of Time, though I may just be confused. Very good review look forward to seeing your thoughts on the new series Dalek set when you acquire it. Xx

It would be great to see more classic TimeLord sculpts however I fear that would be seen as something of a waste of budget, and as I say with the amount of custom figure sculptures there are out there then they'll always be alternatives available :) I did actually look up the transcript for Deadly Assassin and it is in there but the reason I wasn't sure is because the line that's actually said is "after the twelfth regeneration there is no plan that will postpone death". Hence why people probably don't remember the mention of TimeLord's having "13 lives" because although that is what's stated it's not said in those specific terms

If I was a customiser the first idea I'd have would be to try and make a Madame President Romana - maybe even a Gallifrey Audio set with Leela and K9/Braxiatel/Narvin

If you still fancy any figures for that animation you're working on, I've got a large collection of Doctor Who figures.

I love the body of the borusa figure the colour scheme is beautiful but I think it would’ve been a less controversial decision if it was just called a timelord figure and not borusa
@CaptainJimiPie
@CaptainJimiPie 11 месяцев назад
It would have made more sense, especially given how very similar TimeLord’s appear in the same episode, but the inclusion of Borusa by name is likely a marketing tactic

Love this set. More than happy with the selection of figures. Borusa does look more like his appearance from The Invasion of Time but I preferred that regeneration (John Arnatt) so win win here 😅

He does rather but as you say it's a win win really!

Personally I feel like this 4th doctor head sculpt is, for me, like the David Bradley and Ian figures in terms of I didn't like the promo images but the actual figures look stunning. I know you said that it's not the best but honestly seeing your figure has given me more hope for the set. :) As for Borusa, I get that head sculpts cost money and we have got a brilliant Goth head in this set, but it does not cost a penny to just not call it a Borusa figure, and just make it a generic Time Lord, which a lot of people are going to see it as without the unique head sculpt. It's a shame that just the name of a figure can make people sour towards it, because the purple with gold printing is amazing and one I'm looking forward to adding to my collection.

I think it is a sculpt that's going to divide opinion, it's not bad, but we have certainly seen better! You do make a very fair point, espically given that in the Panopticon scene there is a Time Lord that more closely resembles the more gaunt head sculpt in the same style of robes static.wikia.nocookie.net/tardis/images/a/a5/TimeLordsTIOT.jpg But at the same time, it can't be denied that having Borusa on there is to make it more appealing from a narrative point of view, but as you say it's a very small thing that shouldn't really detract from the set
