As someone who only ever had the first fatter versions, i adore these. They look like miniature props from the show. A huge step forward in my opinion 😊
Thing is...we could easily get a The Parting of the Ways History set next time with 2 variants from that story. The numbering doesn't matter as we've seen before. Its possible they've paired these two cause there arent any other special Dalek variants in those episodes.
Yes I found that very strange that when Dalek Sec got an updated model, it was only available in North America instead of England because Daleks are British Monsters, that’s like say you make figures of Godzilla but only sell them in India rather than Japan.
To be fair the Daleks were the one redeeming feature of that range, they looked great and we got lots of variants but it's bittersweet because they weren't the 5" range
I think they could make another pack for Parting of the Ways with a Blowtorch Dalek and a Guard Dalek. As for Series 3 I think a two pack with Dalek Thay with panel damage and Dalek Sec Hybrid would be great. Series 4 could be a Crucible Dalek and Red Supreme.
As I mentioned in the video things like Dalek Thay are less likely due to needing a whole new sculpt for just one figure. But ones with minor paint variations or arm changes could work however as in also said it would mean lots of the same things on shelves to the passing consumer.
I've been after the more accurate Dalek sec for years, so glad I've finally got a chance to get one. Might get a couple more sets to make an Imperial and power of the daleks version.
@@markbelsom3174 : the last I heard that had been missed out this time due to so many past variations having already been released before. I think it is a shame for those who missed out before but I can understand the reasoning from a budget POV
This set worries me slightly, There's a lot of NSD variants we could have and I feel like some of them are going to be skipped. I'd love to see the Assault Dalek and Emperors Guard, as well as Damaged Dalek Thay, Perhaps we will see the Crucible Dalek and Supreme Dalek for the series 4 set. In my opinion for these later sets I think it would have been better if they did it a bit similarly to how Character did it back in the day, with 3 or 4 set packs. Would be cool to get an updated Doomsday pack with the Genesis Ark as well as the Cult of Skaro in the new sculpt. I'm with you on how the Metatron is painted, the gold on the hemispheres does not stand out enough, if the gold just popped a little bit more and with a darker base instead of the silver it would look absolutely spot on in relation to the on screen props, my guess is that this is their tester for feedback and we will see a refined paintjob in the future sets. Great video as always Captain!
My hopes are with the new line coming in future they might move to what they did for the 3.75" range and have a "Heritage line" specially aimed at releasing updated versions of previous figures like the Daleks along with previously unmade variants
I would say highly unlikely as they would need to be new/altered sculpts that could only be used for one thing and then you’d have quite a few different parties involved with splitting profits which makes it less financially viable
The mutant reveal would have been nice, but as I said in the review it would have mean having to retool most of the figure do it, which whilst multi-purpose for future use might not be currently financially viable In future however, who knows!
Fair enough, you aren't under any obligation to buy them though, and for many people this is something they have been waiting to get a re-release...each to their own.
Can't wait to pick this set up when it comes out in my area. I personally hope we get the red supreme next with vault Dalek and not the paradigms. I think the supreme needs a rerelease because if this set and specifically the dead planet history of the Daleks set have proved anything, it's that CO can really make that metallic pop and that would look stunning. Also I'm pretty sure he's a popular design, he sure is to me. From a personal POV my red supreme has been destroyed thanks to 3 year old me, and the crucible Dalek is one I never got (and would end like 10 years of banter me and my dad have had about it).
