Wots My Code - Dubplate Recorded 1991 and then released in 1992 this is the classic Rave track called Dubplate. Back then this music was just called rave music then later on it became Jungle then Drum & Bass
Yo bro dito me to just dash me in a cardboard box with the big yellow smiley face smokin a skliff wid my wotz my dubplate smashing in the b ground..SO WAHHH! AMEN 2 ALL U OLE SKOOL RAVERS STILL WID THE BASSLINE KICKIN IT TO YA..ON DA 1'z an 2'z..I WOZ SO HIGH OFF DA GROUND THAT I COULD SEE 4 MILES AROUND now thats a slammin tune to.
still can't believe this was released in 1992 and now i find its made in 1991 mad ting, apparently goldies terminator was also made in 1991 i heard that once
Hmmm have to semi disagree this was jungle, and sorry as I hate people arguing on RU-vid. For me you want tunes that sum up what you’re talking about. Mystic and fire true love, and those vibes and wishdakota type tunes. What’s my code is early but pure jungle imo. Anyway bless up ✌️❤️
This is an example of hardcore containing elements that people later identified as jungle. Fixed it for the other commenter… who I believe was thinking of the happier side of hardcore. Non-happy hardcore with breakbeats incl. amens is not necessarily jungle although it is a precursor to jungle in some cases.
@@kungfuman2008agree with you.i consider hardcore era as 91-93.not happy hardcore wich wasnt my cup of tea.and although this came in hardcore era any jungle dj could play this and send the crowd wild.
I have been searching for this tune for years!!!!!!!!!! absolutely smashed it! Did not know what it was called but its been in the back of my mind since raving in 93-94 and kool Fm and other stations back in the day
Mate, this is Xmas 1992 for me, I know you made it before that, but it was all over the radio by then. Little banger, thanks for the memories, that was the sound of London back then.
Got this when it came out, and also some of the million or so remixes! Absolute classic tune. 1st heard it out late '92 at Lazerdrome. Fun times. The whole E.P. is good....Bachelor Rock & Most High for more hardcore / jungle and the quality 'Oxford 0865'.....a wicked little laid back sumt'ing!
I was shocked to hear this was made in 1992. This was pretty much the sound of late 93/early 94 which is when I remember hearing this... I don't think 1991 due to the tempo... Late 91 jungle was more like We are I.e and Demon Boyz - Jungle Dett etc.
Big up for inventing Jungle! If you still have this on dat you could make a killing if you released it for download. I would buy it on cd if it was possible?
nah he didn't that melody has been used in quite a few uk underground songs - rusko was just sort of continuing it's use. it originally comes from the revolutionaries - kunta kinte. i just found this out today thought i would share the knowledge
jj clm and rusko stole the dang midi file from some old reggae free site. He didn't even bother to re key it in. It was a stupid controversy some years ago. Skream got caught too lol
So this monster was actually recorded in 91... Blimey this tune was so far ahead of the game!! Proper tune to skank to!!! Heads down for a serious stomp!! And yes Danny Code is totally correct! We just called it rave music as we were all at the rave having a rave!!! Top tunage!
I’ll put this on record: A very well known Jungle DJ skanked the boys, and even released the track under his own name, with a slight remix. When I was on my weekly vinyl jaunts to London, I’d pass into the shop he worked, to get the boys their cash. The scumbag gave them pennies, while he made thousands. Thankfully, Total Science were local Oxford lads too, and Danny and Jason got a much better deal with them..... Honestly there is so much history behind the making of this tune. The boys smashed it!!!!
@@tonynanton9912 Even Oxford HMV had their original pressins for sale with the biro when this came out, as well as Massive round the corner. Great days.
@@timthegallant Never knocked his DJ skills, I even like the dude. I just wasn’t happy with the runnings. Not my issue though, the boys should have been on top of it I guess..... Still a huge tune!!
What Blahfm said! There has been some real interest in oldskool EP's being repressed onto vinyl and remastered, or at least being re-released digitally. Bay B Kane, The Men From Del Bosca, DJ Excel, and DJ Monita & Steve C amongst others have all gone down this route. This would definitely be a winner whatever format it would come out on!
Woah. Really good jungle a few years before source direct! Didn't know it was that good in 92. Thought 95-96 was where it was at. I see so many good songs released at that time.
+Sacada Zero Sounds like you will be having an interesting few years of rave research inna da jungle 1990-94 was a brilliant and special time in underground music! Enjoy ;)
Amazing period of my life 1988 acid house through to jungle techno 1993... Check my page as I've saved alot of jungle from other peoples pages that might get you on the right track... Then go and follow they're pages to find out the sound you really like.... Peace ;)
Thanks. Ever since I really got into dnb, I realized that the more complex beats were my favorites. My musical taste is like an appetite. I'm satisfied with the current food I have until I find something better. Then, I can't get full until I get some more of that newfound food. The stuff I took a liking to last year wasn't jungle, I don't think. It was just some slightly more complex dnb that I never heard before. Last summer, I think, I was listening to the music that played while the credits of the movie, Blade rolled. I heard a cool song that might have been Call and Response by Source Direct. But I later looked up music for the movie so I could get more of the drug. I listened to call and Response and fell in love. Here I am now. I don't listen to the unoriginal kick, snare, kicksnare crap in modern playlists on RU-vid. There are only certain songs I'll listen to with a simple drum beat like that. Some of them are by photek and source direct. (Most of those songs I'm thinking of are Afterglow by Wilkinson, ghost assassin by Maduk and Veela, currents by sounds of life aka source direct, Kingston drone by billain, and meant to be by hybrid minds. Those songs Just caught my ear with their percussion, basslines, and/or vocals.) Now I regularly listen to drill and bass and jungle. And then some Neuro dnb. Occasionally the kick, snare, kicksnare stuff. I really like the dark stuff like feel my dreams by mirage aka source direct. Or exit 9, which is by sd, as well. Its really complex and slaps you with multiple hands from every angle. I love exit 9 so much. One of my favorites from them. I also like happy stuff like this song or incredible by General levy and m beat. I'll check your channel but please suggest jungle like the stuff I mentioned. I need it.
You got the passion right there so I don't really need to point you in any particular direction... Back in the day when I went record shopping I didn't have a mobile phone, the internet etc as the technology wasn't even invented.. In alot of ways its so much easier today... So as I said earlier go research your ears off and have fun... Also if possible buying the original vinyl is a top BONUS and where possible supports the artist... Peace ;)
oldskoolforever79 That was what me and friends called it back then as we wasn’t into that kind of music and me & Jason said we can make that rave, happy hardcore, techno type of music and this is what it ended up sound like........
True the only people who called it rave music at time were those commercial outlets pumping out prodigy,sl2 and altern 8 cos they hit the charts.and thinking it represented our music.hardcore, darkside, jungle tekno, jungle ,drum and bass.they were the terms i knew.sorry to be arsey about it but i do feel protective over the music ive loved since i was 14,15.im now 45.
