I hope you're still getting out and about! I'm 41 and still dipping my toe in every now and again, haha 😊 LOADS of older heads in the raves these days!
@Rai S Yeah, I get out quite a bit! I was at Project 6 festival and then GALA festival a couple of weeks back + after parties! I went MoS for Epidemik this weekend just gone. Hit E1 up for DnB Classics a few weeks ago. Wicked crowd, 90% older headz! On the DnB flex, I'll be heading Hospitality In The Woods in August! 3rd year running! I head to some house, techno and UKG events too. Recovery time is looooong though!
@breakfreak3181 - Nice! Enjoy my friend - I still go out to Ibiza and Printworks in London when I can. Lots of other events going on. Have fun! Keep the vibe alive!
This was what jungle is/was all about. The chills hearing these tunes for the first time whether at a rave, pirate station or on rave cassette tapes. The feeling will never be replicated
@@generalfungus4205 Eh, yeah they can. Drummers can drum faster than this. Breakbeat was sampled from real drummers in the first place. Search up on RU-vid Breakbeat drumming and you will find hundreds of people. A good drummer can drum any pattern and keep the tempo no matter what. Also you are forgetting oldskool hardcore punk, they guys used to drum at speed all the time for whole sets.
2nd comment: Lol, I can remember ravers 'singing' along to that vocal sample when this used to drop. When the track breaks down just before the vocal comes in and the Amen drops back in......fucking gives me a shiver everytime!.... I remember shocking out HARD to this in the summer of 94. Where have the years gone? Teaching my little one the ways.....she loves what she calls 'fast music'. Took her Raver Tots on Father's day and she loved it!
I love drum n bass/jungle. I'm not a fan of most MCs though. A few add the right ad libs, notes, and rhymes sparingly and thoughtfully, while some won't shut up for more than 15 seconds, which distracts from what the DJ is playing, that is supposed to be what rave music is, the beats, not the hot dog pretending to be a pro rapper over top of the beats.
OMG reliving my youth to this dancing in the kitchen. My 15yr old son looked at me and must have thought WTF😂 If only he knew his dad was a fucking legend at Quest 😜😜😜
You are not the only one! Im 48, my son 25, and son when halfsleeping in early morning goes to work, found himself crazy daddy how banging with headphones on head with volume on max!!!! ;-))
Shout to Pilgrim, Doc Scott, Kenny Ken, Ratty, SlipMatt, DJ Sy, DJ SS, DJ Stu Allan, DJ Carl Cox, DJ EasyGroove, Ellis Dee, Daz Willot, Randall, Donavon Bad Boy Smith, LoftGroover, Dougal, Ramos, LTJ Bukem, Dr. S Gachet, Food Junkie, Swan-E, Jumping Jack Frost, Tango, Dave Angel and all of the others making those incredible tunes and mixes back in 1992 to 1994. *SUCH* a f**king tune. *Quest Tapes 1994* Leicester crew! _"Who gives this U-Turn?"_ _"Yeah but the music from the top, Saqib"_ At least that's what I always think it says lol Beat is relentless. Tunes are epic.
When you got this on a recording off a pirate station, you’d dare not touch the dial in case you’d mess up the reception. Kids these days don’t know the struggle of recording off a radio!
Haha I was the queen of ariels we lived down. Southend way and I constructed about half a mile of Ariel cable round the front room and we’d be able to pick up Kool fm sometimes it would even mean us taking turns to stand on an arm chair holding the end of the wire to get a clearer signal so we could record our fave sets 😂👌🏻😎❤️ x
@@tantilizingtrip1 Noooooooooo and it’s one of my biggest regrets they got lost along the way I listen to peoples uploads of tapes of KOOl fm sets on soundcloud and I’m always like ahhhhhh man mine were much better haha grave yard sets used to be crystal clear that time of night
Listened to this tune every week since I found it and I blast it out on a soundbar at work in the audio department I work in. Customers react like, what is going on?
This is the bollocks and I love it!! Had this on vinyl years ago and wish I still did!! And 37 people have given it the thumbs down!! Probably peoples parents who got sick of us blasting this out of our jamo’s!!
Heard this at awol ministry and a girl approached me just on the strength of how mad i went when i heard this choon. Danced without a care in the world.
I'm a South London council estate boy born and bred, not a soft kad at all.....but I tell ya, this hits the nostalgia feels *hard!* Headz who were there know! Edit: meant 'soft *lad'* lol
This should be,played all the way till the end mix in the next one to the last seconds, it's too good!! Oh my god .. what a tune this never fails to get the rave lively shocking out!!
@@mrkipling2201 I feel your pain G! I've lost a few vinyls over the years. The one's I lost or had nicked still piss me off to this day.....25+ years later 🤣.
How did I miss this killer tune back in the early 1990s when listening to tons of jungle tapes and smoking good bush weed.......does jungle darkness get any better than this track? Best I've listened to
Pmsl my old man used to say the same he also called it crap rap!!!!if only they could have had just 10 minutes of our era then they would eat there words!!BAD AS FUK TIMES❤
0:57 Sounds like this record has been used a lot for DJing - the part around where the first beat starts and where a DJ would normally cue it up back and forth, there would be a lot of stylus wear so you can hear the drop in treble output there.
The label put out quality jungle for those into intelligent drum and bass! They did their own thing and didn’t sell out to the cliche ragga jungle sound. Bangers! AWOL MASSIVE - let’s have a rewind!!
9:12:22 44_yrs old JUNGLIST FRM DAY WEN U HEARD 👂🏽 THIS INTRO OF THE SET YOU KNEW WHAT TIME IT WAS! 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💨💨💨💨💨💨💨 Hoooòoooòpla 'Wheeeeeeeel up and come again my Selecta 🔥🔥.....
Had a jungle cd back in the day with this on it. Was definitely the best track on it. Brings back happy memories of my technics cd player, Cyrus amp and mission speakers blasting out killa basslines. Paying the price now with my selective hearing. Worth it though.
Was searching for this but did not know the name, so respect for the upload.Love the werewolf howling at the beginning. So a creative and innovative sound for the ravers of London town and all over the world.
Brought a Hitachi 3D Super Woofer and Drum and Bass Vol 2 by Breakdown Records to Playa del Ingles back in 93 and drove the fuckers mad.. what a track, quality 👍
im a 90s boom bap hip hop head, just getting around jungle and dnb now. this shit hits the same spot for me as when i hear a dope hip hop beat with crunchy drums - similar but unique in its own way
Oh man, I cannot imagine being introduced to jungle as a newcomer now! You have a whole world in front of you - I am jealous! A few of my favourite tracks, in case you haven't found them yet: Dead Dred - Dred Bass (Foul Play Remix) Hyper On Experience - Lord of the Null Lines (Foul Play Remix) Blackstar ft Topcat - Champion DJ Conquering Lion - Code Red Renegade - Terrorist Also, if you want to listen to some DJ sets from back in the day, try Dreamscape, One Nation or Helter Skelter events (DJs like Hype, Randall, Grooverider, Mickey Finn, Ellis Dee, Swanee, Fabio)
Jungle de Qualidade que eu escutava com 13 anos. Ouvia no Rádio e nos Bailes........ A Pista ficava lotada na cena Underground que chegou e estourou em São Paulo, nos anos 90.
One of my all time fav jungle tunes . Reminds me of being 15 on holiday with my mate and sneaking out of ground floor window to go down beach to rinse don fm tapes and try and Bill up in force 8 gale lol
