Those are awesome, underrated old tractors. An old Farmer I worked for as a teenager had one in his fleet, from 1976. Best tractor out of his bunch. Straight up beast. Thanks for reminding me about it!

Worked for a farmer in the early eighties who had several Belarus. 420 with loader, 500, and a larger 4x4 with a cab. Very tough and ergonomic

They’re not good looking but I guess I’d fit bigger and wider front tires to make it more attractive

I find that anything built simple and rough, are very tough. Takes a lot of hard use and generally anything that can break is engineered to be fixed easily. Unlike new production contraptions, you need a PHD in computer systems just to figure out what is wrong.

They are cool tractors. We had two. Never let us/me down. Rugged, unsophisticated, unique, 1950/s +/- technology. Economic. Gallon an hour regardless of what you are doing. Never used engine oil, but the first one oozed hydraulic oil. Centrifugal oil cleaner. These came with a reputation, but I came to love them. Long stroke engine, strong torque, low rev slugging. Russians do things differently. No doubt about that. Reckoned that maybe had a bit of Farmall IH DNA away in the distant past. I will always have a good word for these. Fond memories.

I picked up a 525 and yes it does have leaks but the thing is a tank. I'll spend some time this spring trying to stop the drainage .. the power on these beasts seem so much more than the rated hp.

I’m looking to buy this t25 tractor. Maybe with a cab if not too expensive. I’ll paint it myself and fit wider front tires to make it look attractive. I’ve heard those are the best 25hp tractors in the entire world.

I use a 60 John Deere, propane, with tricycle front end for skidding logs. I put weights on the front, and I only lift logs with the 3 pt, and have a bar I built that goes into the drawbar, I lift the log, then chain it to that bar, and keep minor pressure on the 3 pt, let the bar hold the weight. With the tricycle front end, I can get around trees easy, using either brake to turn it quick. Not 4 wd of course, but it does ok.

I've been really impressed with the kubota tractors. They might be more for someone with a storage barn and electricity to plug in a block heater though. You likely won't find another tractor suitable for mosin rifle mounts and logging the Siberian wilderness.

Yes, over the past 30 years I put a gear reduction starter, a set of tires and a ROPS on my 525, and wouldn't trade it for any modern tractor.

That looks like a 500 you have we had a 820 on the farm then after we sold the cows i worked for the dealer that sold them repairing them. the 500/520 were very tough tractors. All the 20 stood for was 4wd. The air cooled 400/420 gave some troubles due to lack of maintenance cleaning the fins on the engine block but was a nice small rig to get around with.
@logcabinlooms

This is a 520, after running many different 2 wheel drive tractors growing up, I have been spoiled having front wheel assist. We used to always put chains on tractors in winter to get around, with this I have never felt the need for them.
@cabotbluegill
@cabotbluegill 6 лет назад
Sorry about that i was looking at the front tires and those looked like the fronts that were run on the 500 those 500 series were darn tough rigs for sure with some care i don't think you can kill one . Simple to rebuild did you get the tools that were sold with them every tool was there that was ever needed to repair them for a rebuild there were tourque bars instead of useing a torque wrench
@logcabinlooms
@logcabinlooms 6 лет назад
No tools came with it, but it did have the manuals which have been handy. For tools I seem to get by with what I have on hand. One thing I like is it doesn't require all the specialized model specific equipment, normally a Cresent wrench, and a hammer will do.

You would have got a big kick out of the tools they came in a 4 foot by 3 by 2 foot box it even had the little tool to remove the core out of the valve stem

What's the HP? Are those Polish or Russian tractors? Is the front wheel assist the same as Four wheel drive or some sort of limited assist system? Looks like tough old heavy duty unit - Probably last couple lifetimes w/ Good care - Thanks for video - I run old Ford 4000 3 cylinder. Deisel tough old tractor before they got so complicated & expensive like everything else now-a-days-

Belarus tractors are decent. Some of the older 80 and 90s era machines were a little rough around the edges. Worst issue with those tractors would have to be the seals. They all leak. They're tough, somewhat overbuilt and based (most anyway) on some old IH designs that were bulletproof. Most American farmers tend to lack a little in education or ability to learn new tricks. (Some tend to become color fixated). Belarus Tractors are like Zetors, you have to "relearn" and "rethink" how to maintain your machinery...Not everyone is willing to do it. Besides that, parts are available, but you have to know where to look and be willing to wait for a UPS truck to bring them. That in itself can be an issue for some.

Do you have any experience with the old Gravely 2WD tractor? I've purchased a 1952 custom convertible L.I. 7HP Kohler. It's a beast ,well built machine. I have found it to be a very diverse machine. Many implements are made for them. I know you also have an old David Bradley. How do you like it?

I have 5 old Gravely walk behind tractors. They are the best.
@Woopwoopwill
@Woopwoopwill 2 года назад
@@curtrn aren't they though. We don't build thing's like that anymore. Build to last and depend upon. I'll take an old peice of machinery over anything modern or built in the last 30 year's. Pre 1970 is where it's at.

I actually have a Belarus Gravely. I had a Gravely Pro12, it was good but like my Belarus MTZ 09h considerably better. Always like 2 wheel machines. I had a David Bradley once and it sucked royal. It wasn't good for anything. It was in really good shape and a collector was happy to get it for restoration.

Yes, the 2x6's I need for the tool shed I am making, but the 7 inch wide center will be a wall log for the cabin.
