I live in Slovakia- basically Eastern Europe, very conservative country. And when we had female candidate for president, everyone, even more liberal voters were saying that our country "is not prepared for female president yet". Pls keep in mind that she has liberal opinions too, which she never hesitate to verbalize, never. BUT Miracle happened! Even the usually "conservative" voters voted for her because she was obviously the best in debates before election- calm, direct, etc. And now we have her as president and she's awesome! What I wanted to say, my friends from USA, never say never :) Miracles can happen!
Thank you so much. Your President appears to be an extraordinary person. She has a strong background and character, the kind of person all nations need as leaders in these times.
Whether she runs or not, the Democratic Party desperately needs younger leaders at the top. I actually think Biden has done pretty well with the bad hand he was dealt, but Pelosi and Schumer need to go.
The Democratic party needs more progressives like AOC, and the corporate neoliberal dems gotta go. ALL of them. We need people who are ACTUALLY on the left.
Frankly, not only the Democratic Party needs younger leaders at the top, the whole world does. It's time for some fresh air, our governments reek of old men who are either stuck in the last century or cling to the status quo as if their life depends on it.
That is exactly how a congressperson who is planning on running, would answer that question. Too early to officially announce, and you don't want to challenge your party's sitting president in the middle of your reelection campaign.
Yes... don't challenge Biden... a President with an approval rating rivaling Jimmy Carter and he's not even halfway done in office. A President that will go down in history as one who bled our economy dry and blamed everyone else... should be unchallenged by their own base party? Democrats digging their own graves having him unopposed during all this. Shows Ocasio's true colors: She is not in it for the betterment of the citizenry. No. She is in it for when the power grab aids her the most. *Personal Benefit Only*
She has a very particular way to choose precise wording, something most politicians try to *avoid* instead. Content and politics aside, she'll have the upper hand in debate culture nonetheless.
I'll vote for her in a heartbeat if she ever does run, but I don't think she will in '24. She's still just getting started in congress and there's so much she can still accomplish there before moving to take on the big job.
Corbert is promoting a lying progressive JIMMY DORE CALLED HER OUT She got nothing done she promised She promised a 15 dollar an hour wage nationwide M4A student loan forgiveness Medical debt forgiveness during COVID NAME ONE THING SHE GOT PASSED TO HELP THE WORKING POOR ???? BESIDE BULLSHIT
She’s a socialist dictator she’s I sneak in the grass she’s a lie liar she wants higher taxes in a middle-class open borders CTR drag queens in school defund the police higher gas prices
I don't think she'll run either, because realistically, she's not that popular anymore. Also, in her own district, things aren't looking very good. Crime is up from 50-150% all over NYC, she's yet to really move any major policy or deals (Nothing noteworthy anyway) But aside from that, people like idealism, it sounds good during a campaign, but when it's time to make good on your promises, that's what dictates the logical conclusion to your political career. Sadly, we've seen allot of nothing out of her. That's not a jab, I'm just being objective in this situation. Big issues- Jobs & Crime, Gas, Rent, Food. I don't think she's seen not one victory in those areas- aside from generic platitudes (which is what allot of politicians are known for) Compare that, in contrast with a guy on the opposite end of the spectrum- Ron DeSantis (Florida) He's far more poised to run, the guys practically a rockstar. His people love him, he seems to have support, people on the street like him. etc. He's Governor, soooo apples and oranges, but you gotta look at where he's at- politically. Largely people seem to agree with his policies etc. I feel like AOC may be out of political currency at this point in time. As nice a person as she may be, she may have plenty to say, but there aren't many out there who care what she has to say, that's the thing I'm saying... she isn't making political waves right now either. Only time will tell.
I really like that she answered the questions directly, citing historical examples of how checks and balances is supposed to work, and that the only question she worked around was about her own possible political future. Perhaps one day she will run for president, but until we clean up the nazi's and home grown terrorists... well let's just say THOSE are the jobs that need to be done right now!

Yes apparently she is. You have no clue. If you had any education you would realize she has no clue what she is talking about. Her little rant about history is a collection of unrelated events that occurred over a decade plus. Facts... who needs them right?

And remember, it's critical to run a full slate of great people down the line as well, down to school district. Dems need to look at repub's playbook over the last 50 years, in terms of getting their people in place at all levels - judiciary and the rest.
Dems are very short sighted and that's the biggest hurdle. They keep thinking one person will come along and fix everything. The president needs ppl in positions to make meaningful change and frankly AOC is too divisive whether intentionally or not. I am pretty sure he would agree tbh. The main reason he had to run until now is that he was basically the only person big enough to represent his cause for the presidency, which is about to change.
How about no look how much damage she’s done to the country as a congresswoman you wanna make the most powerful person in the United States hell no she’s an absolute embarrassment and absolute buffoon.
I do want her to run for President one day. But she needs to help the Democrats build momentum and trust with the public first where she’s at. A better choice would be Katie Porter or Jamie Raskin...though I'd hate to lose either one from the House, especially Katie Porter and her amazing ability with some facts and a white board.
I LOVE Katie Porter, but sadly, she doesn't have the "it" factor, the charisma that AOC has, and if we've learned anything about the POTUS, it's that the candidate that has the best charisma wins, not the candidate with the best ideas... 😫 I'd love to see Porter, Pressley, Omar... the entire squad become senators, then we'd see some REAL changes happening!
Yeah. It can be a bit disappointing to think about, but there's a lot of strategy in elections, and I dunno if she stands the slightest chance of winning over _anyone_ on the other side of purple. Diversity (of opinion, specifically) is great, but it can also be divisive. It might be more effective to keep those strong voices in positions they can win, so those opinions are represented, and stick to a more centrist leader.
@@nickwallette6201 if history has proven anything, it's the opposite... for good or for evil... our most influential leaders were anything but centrist. Lincoln and 45 are perfect examples of this...
@@TheRogueStatesman Yes, that's true. Influential leaders are charismatic and often far from neutral. But I'm not sure the ideal leader is "influential." I'll take someone who moves the ball forward in reasonable increments and gets things done with input and compromises from both sides over someone who wins out of voter frustration, spends their time upsetting the apple cart, and then pushes the opposing party into action during the next cycle just to do it all over again, in the opposite direction. That wild oscillation isn't what I believe makes for a healthy democracy. You need those innovative and exaggerated viewpoints to suggest alternative ideas and express the needs of the under-represented minority (whatever that slice may be -- racial, class, philosophical, whatever), but those esoteric ideas need to be refined through the filter of bipartisan cooperation to represent not just the slight majority at a point in time, but the greatest majority of ordinary citizens possible. We need conservatives and liberals and independents and everything in between and to the sides. Everyone's got good ideas and bad ideas, and hopefully, through moderation, we can distill the best of the bunch regardless of source. If she one day became US president it would represent a real cultural change happened, like social care not being considered socialism but common sense like anywhere else. I'm not American but I'm sure the world might see the US in a different light if this happened. At the same time it's not something I foresee in the near future. At the moment America is a very divided country, some say even on the brink of another civil war. Maybe she will be the healing factor, but most of the world believe that her presidency would mean Americans officially renounced their global empire, something nobody sees possible because of what everyone knows of US mindset
I'm pretty sure most of the world would just see her presidency as a long awaited return to sanity. I would absolutely love to see her run, but I honestly can't see her winning. Despite possibly being the best candidate available; The old would say she's too young. The men would say she's too soft. The women would say she's too catty. Anyone republican or republican leaning is a write off (as they would with any democrat, let's be real). US presidential elections are just too much of a popularity contest, and there are too many people that would feel threatened by her.
@expendabiggles Socialism and socialist states are different things. Socialism is widespread; just here in Canada we live far more comfortable lives with universal health care and a higher minimum wage. Almost the entirety of Europe takes it a step further than us with programs with government funded post-secondary education (I know you can find this in Germany at least), Dental coverage (we're working on that up north here) and several experiments with universal basic income. The United States also has some socialism, seen in social security programs. It's just the specific programs you decide to implement, and there's an abundance of countries that show life could be much better for the general public with a bit more government spending.
