You should have not edited out the part you were backing into the dock just so for those drivers who’s just starting off can get a better understanding on backing a semi with trailer 🤙🏽
12:47 here’s a tip! If you want the truck to stay on, set the trailer brakes and push in the yellow button, the trailer will not let the truck go forward and your truck thinks you are gonna drive. The automatic shutdown will not work that way.
Actually the real solution is to turn on the cruise control when you’re in park and hit resume. Truck will idle up to 600-800 rpm and it won’t shut off. You should always idle your rig up anyways. It’s bad for the motor to idle at a low rpm. Hence why it shuts down.
I'm 55 and decided to go get my license. I was on the road with my then-boyfriend in my thirties, so I know the trucking world. I was lucky enough to get my learner's permit and drove our semi-trailer (B-train) to most states even if I'm from Canada. It was the best time, but it was the worst too! Met some incredible truck drivers. So, I decided that it was now or never! I'll start next spring. Never too old to try something new. :) Great videos.
Really enjoyed the video, young man. Nice KW you're piloting there - and love the rumble of that engine (Detroit, Cummins, CAT???). Be careful out there and thanks to you and all those other drivers for keeping us in everyday essentials for our lives/homes. Blessings!
You made that so hard on yourself dude. You had a HUGE open space between that Dually and Semi. Swing your tractor into those open spaces and swing back out to leave enough room for the back of the trailer to clear that Dually, then basically set yourself up for a SLIGHT angle straight back. You’re not new to trucking, but I think you’re still new to backing.
I'm going to nominate this channel as "Best Trucking Channel". No Grizzled Veteran bloviating about all the stuff he's seen. Just a nice young man trying to make a living and sharing his adventure. Bravo Alex! ❤
If any of you big leaguers are thinking of getting into trucking, plan on changing your entire life to accommodate the job. You can either be home or make money but rarely both, and if you can’t sit and knock out 400-600 miles daily than don’t bother. It takes its toll. Good luck. 🍀
Careful using the same utensil while cooking raw chicken. Should use one pair of tongs for raw and another for cooked. Wanna avoid cross contamination. Just looking out. Love the videos.
Did you know in Europe semi's are limited to 55mph, are smaller, the on ramps are way smaller, 10x more traffic and the highway is almost never straight... can you imagine 😉
the on ramps are NOT way smaller in most of Europe. You should see the on ramps in Connecticut, Massachussetts, New Jersey, most of Virginia. They are often barely 2 truck lengths. In the Netherlands they are way longer and Germany too.
I love how out of everything you could've missed, you missed the gosh tongs. Kinda ironic since they're basically the same color scheme as the inside of normal trucks.
I wouldn't want to drive one of those rigs, but I think it would be fun riding along with you, while seeing more of the country. I enjoy your commentary and almost feel like I'm there.
Drove a truck long time.... I'm retired now.. If u want a sence of adventure... You could drag mobile homes.. It would sure break u in to backin' them in... U do have spotters... And front and rear escorts... It's an adventure.. If u do take down and set up the money is real good! Keep on kid... You will get there !
Hey Alex love your videos was getting worried when you weren’t putting any videos I see wants out there in the world thru you and your trucking I’ve never been anywhere but glad to see you’re videos I even rewatch all you’re videos again when you don’t put new one 😂
Would I be a driver? Yes, because I have passion to drive, because I believe in seervice to the people. I just need the opportunity to show my passion while serving the people. Please reach out to me if you know how I can get a job to the USA as a German resident
Set your cruise control, then idle the engine rpms up... Does the bunk have a control for optimized idle in it? Our Cascadias do...since you're in a KW it may be a different set up. Anyway, if it does toggle the temp and set it.. once thats done it should idle. I prefer it over APUs Been at it 12 years now, no slowing down .
17:00 we eat it in Mexico too. But normally it’s made for Cuaresma season. We eat it with Lentejas and tortas de camarón and or Nopalitos! Yum!!! Oh and we call them, tortas te papa.
I was a truck driver for 4 years. Pulled flatbed, stepdeck an lowboys. I loved it. But my family comes first. But good luck out there an stay safe driver.
@@diablodelatorre you can truck local that’s what I do I’m going into mixer driver here I’m Denver a lot of hours but get to come home to my family every night
Hey Alex, I love the content man been watching since the beginning with your shorts. Can we get a ballpark on how much you make generally a month? Keep the grind man, I'm taking my classes rn.
Yeah. Turn on your cruise and press set. And it should idle up. Sure it might burn alittle bit more fuel. But it’s not your money and you stay comfortable. 🤷♂️🤷♂️ especially in the winter when it cold. If your company dosent want you burning the fuel they need to buy you guys apu’s.
As long as you're with the truck and only do this while you're with the truck your truck in idle and not automatically turn off activate your trailer brake and deactivate your truck brake that way you'll stay in place but the truck won't shut down but once again do not do this if you are planning on leaving your truck for any reason we're going to be for a minute do not do it tire shops even better but still don't leave the truck on attendant
This is the same information that I found Alex. Give it try and good luck. Also, get some tongs with BLOODY SILICONE ENDS!!! If you scratch up that perfectly good indoor grill, I will be disappointed.
I wouldn’t be a truck driver. The ratio between pay and time away from home still doesn’t make sense. In addition, many companies still don’t pay for a lot of the time drivers spend out there. For example, detention pay AFTER 2 hrs if you’re lucky, so you give them 2 free hours! Layover pay blows ($100 AFTER 24 hrs sitting), if you’re lucky there too! Etc, etc.
See if you can turn the cruise control on while your cooking and give it a little gas and try to set the cruise so itll be idled up a little. Might keep it from trying to shut the motor off
Heck no I would never be a truck driver, but. I do enjoy your videos and lay in bed after work watching your videos thinking I'm glad I'm not doing this lol. putting a bed and a tv and game console and it being all snug seems cool though :)
Do you like being over the road or do you want to try looking for something local in the future where you are home everyday. I'm local and my company pays more than the average trucking company.
I bought a Bluetti ac200 max for my truck. I can run anything I want for 2 days ish before I have to recharge it. It’ll recharge in a few hours plugged into the truck while driving.
@Alex, I just got a 2023 T680 and found an easy way to bypass the 5 minute idle shutdown. Let me know if you want to know how to do it. Be safe out there man.... 🤙😎
Good thing about being light is not really worrying about them chicken coops . Ain’t overweight and truck looks like everything is good. Damn dot inspections
I've seen a few of your videos but I don't understand the why of what you're doing with the rear wheels. Are you moving them forward or backwards and for what reason?
I was an OTR driver for 27 years and I'm so glad to be retired, it's a different experience now and nothing as good as it was, the government stuck it's dick in the industry and ruined it forever, I've never seen so many destroyed loads in my life
Question: if your moving from state to state often for work, how long can you rest the day off per month and how do you pay a permanent place like a apartment when your in a other state and not given enough time to travel there? Do you rest the days in a hotel?
DUDE!!! Next time you're in Jacksonville lmk! I'm from Jax! You said that and I was eating dinner, I wasn't expecting that, I had a head jerk, that almost knocked over the couple next to me, bahahahaha!
