Thank you all so much for watching. I'm truly grateful for every one of you that chose to subscribe and continue to watch. You all made one of my dreams come true. Thank you so much.
You're in montour falls,ny on hwy 14. Two falls there. That was either aunt sarah falls or shequaga falls. The latter was the one closest to the falls motel. Theres some very nice scenery up there.
Alex you're in upstate NY in horseheads maybe. Upstate NY is easy and beautiful this time of year. Dont sweat it. And im not aware of any snow storm going up there. Idk what that guy is smoking. At this time of year it should only be rain. Check the weather channel radar.
You made me want this even more, although I’m estranged with my parents they were truckers and I loved accompanying them when I was a small toddler but they had to stop as I needed to go to school and all that. I also love being alone and tbh I don’t even like traveling to go the place itself but I love the journey there if that makes sense.
When I started doing this, it was in 1992. I was about 22 or 23. We drove one speed. HAMMER DOWN. Most of our trucks were 10 speed macks. Then they went to freight shakers, excuse me, "Freightliners". lol. We used logs books, as in plural. We called them "coloring books". Dispatchers always had a fire under our buts. I started after the "bennies" days. Dispatchers use to hand them out like candy. They called them "fat pills". Or "uncle Ben, the co-driver". Well, I'm sure glad things have changed. We slept about 4 hours a day or night. Log books were never legal. I hated that. About the "chicken coops", we got around them. We always had our CB's on to know what was in front of us, as in, "bears" and "chicken coops". Many were also looking for some "commercial company" in the "pickle parks". But that wasn't me. They were out there like waitresses at a restaraunt looking for "hungry drivers". I been all over the country. But they mostly liked to send me to NYC. I hated NYC. I asked for "combat pay". lol. Oh, we didn't have GPS's and cell phones. lol. Nor auto transmissions. That was laughable. No. We had a shift of 10 gears. 5 low, 5 high. Some even 13 speed. The biggest comic was when people would get CDL's and not know how to drive a manual. Don't take that hard though. I know. Today it's much different. Actually, I think today has an advantage from when I started. They were trying to clean up the industry. Now I would say the roads are much safer. And looking at your video, I like what you learned compared to how it was when I started. Anyway, happy travels. 2200 miles a week? that's about what I did. Oh, they promised closer to 3000. But they lie always.
If you don't know how to install a CB RADIO, in the overhead is the best place for it. Antenna mounted on the mirror, you might as well just throw in away and avoid the middle man. Nice truck, but you eat nothing but garbage. You need to have meat and fish and chicken and soup and chili. If I did what you do i would buy a small gas grill and BBQ on my day off. Use the CB Radio to find a nice lot lizard to keep you warm. Or i would stay in a hotel and soak in the hot tub and get drunk.
Not a trucker about to get my CDL but when you are merging on a large vehicle people know they either move left ⬅️ or get ahead og you ⬆️ or star behind ⬇️. They know they can stop on a dime but you can't they also know subconsciously that they don't want to hit the rear of your truck because they can't win. Unless there is traffic backed up on the merging lane which will require you to slow down don't just gain your speed.
