@@justvintagecrochet You must have somehow twisted what I said from what I intended! Or possibly some evil force changed the words I typed! That is the only explanation I can think of for your attack. Of course I recognize that she does what she does out of love for the art form we call crochet and she has a vast knowledge that thank God she is willing to share with those of us that have limited experience to draw from, which brings me to why I enjoy watching these videos. I know I first learned to crochet back in the 70s. I do not remember a lot because of a stroke a couple of years ago next week. I believe this channel and others help me trigger memories that take me back and help me regain some trace of something that has been shrouded in a fog. I come to this channel to learn or relearn what I lost. I have no nefarious motives. I am sorry YOU are offended for some reason of your own but no such motive was intended. I will ignore your overreaction and continue to watch these wonderful adventures in crochet. You can stew over whatever, but you have no need to stew over my viewing choices. Take a beat and relax !

Me hearing your disgust over this being “just a granny square” and looking down at the solid filet stitch throw I’m so desperate to finish before I die of boredom and thinking, “Girl, how I feel your pain!” 😂😂😂
@catherinelindsay7437
@catherinelindsay7437 Месяц назад
@Sakrysta I decided to make a throw blanket for my husband and it was a one row repeat pattern. It had a base chain of 250 and I wanted to do about 150 rows. Had to give up after about 130 because I was so bored! It looks great but it was mindnumbing by the end of it. The border was just 5 rows of double crochet all the way around as well. 🥱🥱🥱
@Emmalina2000
@Emmalina2000 Месяц назад
@@catherinelindsay7437 I’ve been working on my half double crochet blanket for two months is making me tired, I believe I’ve made it to long for chunky yarn. I made it about maybe 136 chains and every row is half double crochet. Next time I make one for my mom I need to do a new stitch.
@catherinelindsay7437
@catherinelindsay7437 Месяц назад
@Emmalina2000 I think it took me about a year to finish mine. I had to keep leaving it for a while to let my brain recharge. I'm currently working on a baby blanket and the main body of that is a 2 row repeat (one of which is basically all just single crochets with a chain 1 every 5 stitches) so it's not the most exciting but at least it's pretty small so I should be on the border soon and that's much more interesting!
@Emmalina2000
@Emmalina2000 Месяц назад
@@catherinelindsay7437 yeah I keep leaving mine for like a few days, but I have school starting soon so I won’t have much time to finish. The border would be so much fun!

I had one grandma born in 1904, and my other grandma was born in 1913. They each crocheted. My second grandma taught me how to crochet when I was 10 years old. When I was a child, my first grandma would crochet a type of tank top made of granny squares. I'd be willing to bet that they both did Victorian crochet.

Oooh!!! A very pretty take on the simple Granny (or Van Dyke) Square!!! I even see a really cool variation based on what you have done here! You made 4 granny squares and seamed them together, then used the black to tie them all together into a larger square. What if you did that with all of them? What I mean is, make 4 smaller squares, seem them together the way you did, then use the same color of the seam to tie them all together into a bigger square. 48 of those bigger squares would make a good-sized blanket, then, using border colors, make the boarder for the blanket. You could even design it so that each of the bigger squares have different color combinations. I can even see 1 color to seam and border the smaller squares into 1, then a 2nd color to seam and border the blanket itself. So many possibilities! I have a commissioned blanket coming up... I may have to give this some thought :)
