@@ArtyMartyD Really does change the perspective if you look at it from Gen. Hammond's point of view because he knew every challenge up until this episode sg-1 and the SGC would survive.
@@juicebowlHe also would have known O’Neill was lying about Daniel Jackson in the pilot episode Children of the Gods. It wasn’t cannon at the time but Don Davis expression when retired O’Neill claimed the nuke destroyed the gate on Abydos could easily passed as foreknowledge.
@@GlurakkJTV1Landry was meant to be Hammond and O’Neill in 1, I liked him but there was just something missing - but then again when you change major characters it always happens
@@jacquestube looking back it was very much a product of its time, dark, grim, everyone was broody or either an asshole or a saint. They where actively working against each other a lot of the time for seemingly no reason other than for the drama
@matasa7463 a colonel (O-6) in the Air Force made about $4500 per month in 1999. Including Basic Allowance for Housing in Colorado Springs, I'm sure he could finagle the budget for it
Don Davis brought such wonderful energy to General Hammond. He could be hard and commanding or friendly and nice. He pulled off each with believability that brought depth to the character. He may not have seen a lot of action in SG-1 but he was a solid pillar of the show you could count on.
Actually I have met and knew a few Generals that could do the same, in the Army. A few that I have worked for were of that caliber and I have much respect for to the image that he portraits in the show.
@@DB-yj3qc That's cool to know. I heard Richard Anderson had a great respect for the military and had a military advisor on set to be sure they were getting things right. Maybe that advisor helped Don Davis play the role just right. It helped that they brought up that he was a family man as well. Jack: Maybe you should go to your office and hit One on the speed dial Hammond: My grandkids? Jack: Two then... I meant the President, sir.
He knows, his "future career" started the day he got that massage from his future self. From that day his whole life was dedicated to Stargate and this team....
@@tehpurplepills it’s stargate SG1 it’s a tv series based loosely off the stargate movie with Kurt Russell. But if you do want to watch you need to watch the movie with Kurt Russell to get a better picture then just starting the series
Give "Farscape" a try. It's not like most sci fi series, but has great character development. It was canceled after four seasons, but fan demand brought it back for the three hour mini series; " Farscape, The Peacekeeper Wars". I believe you won't be disappointed.
I watch the repeats on Comet regularly. I still occasionally get to see an episode I didn't see before. Jack's humour, and the HOT women they chose to play Goa'uld women. 😈
He explained that he didn't know when to give Carter the letter until he saw her injured hand. I suspect that when they leave is when he did the math fully confident in his success.
@@Kanerudo Of course it was a joke, what made it funny was that the number given was potentially the true "loan" value with the interest for the time in question.
Yes, one of the greatest episodes😅 I love the fact that he knew the whole time and was simply waiting for the day 😎 George Hammond is an absolute legend
So damn happy that the show is in re-run again. Don S. Davis was a great actor and as General Hammond he really did shine! He and the rest of the cast really did win the hearts of millions.
This really was one of the best ever episodes , , , ,i wonder if the actor that played young LT Hammond might reprise his role in a new sequel Stargate project ??? RIP Mr Davis 🙏😔
Gone but never forgotten. This is the trouble with nostalgia videos, we love sg1 and we want it back but everyone is to old and it'll never be the same.
BEST TV SHOW EVER!! Every single piece of tech that was used in later season, you get to see how, why, and where they got it from. The mistakes, the understanding, the trust, the fights, the adventure, the deaths, the hurt, the romance, all of it was top notch.
This show needs a reboot but not on the SciFi or Syfy channel. It also needs to follow the EXACT plot of the original but with modern graphics for the new generation, and for us original fans to see a new fantastic journey for the crew well new crew they could even make the former lead military guy as the new general Hammond.
Loved that show! Atlantis too! (FUNNY! READ TO BOTTOM!) They just don't make really good interesting ORIGINAL shows anymore. Supernatural was the last good one. Hollywood is runnin outta movie and tv series ideas faster than they can cancel 'em. Sad. Pretty soon it'll be more exciting to watch clothes wash n dry. Until they make a show about it. LAUNDRY: WHEN DIRT RULES THE STREETS, AND YOUR CLOTHES ARE GONNA BE ON THE LINE, MR.WISHY WASHY soap WILL SAVE YOU! DARK OR WHITE, ALL OVER THE WORLD, HE'LL HAVE US ALL CLEAN HAPPY AND SMILING! Funny? Lol? No? Ok. Well I tried. Sorry, I get silly when I haven't slept. Lol! 😜🤭🤤😴😴
I love how this weaves itself into the lore really well even behind the scenes. You figure Young Hammond had to explain the whole event. Might've even led to a self fulfilling time loop where that's what led Hammond down the path to SGC command.
You know he was calculating that interest for years knowing someday he’d send them back to his past self, only to then be able to tell him about the interest 😂
I mostly agree the concepts and plots were so good back then and the writing is unmatched only truly good modern one I can think of is season one of altered carbon
@@noahbender2147 hasn't been a decent star trek since next gen (deep space 9 was ok), starwars fell off quick, matrix went down hill, anything I can think of did and I am not even that big into SciFi
