Crayford dog track owned by Ladborkes continued to race greyhounds in blizzard conditions on January 12th 2017.
Although the track vet can withdraw individual dogs from races - they have no authority to cancel the meeting. The vet can only advise the Racing Manager to cancel but the decision to cancel will be made on commercial grounds with no regard to the welfare of the dogs.
Once again we see commercial decisions made to protect bookmaker’s profits as opposed to the dog’s welfare and that will always be the case as long as greyhound racing exists.
