The Wick , what a track . Fond memories ......... Clement Freud was often there Saturday morning , lots of other characters. I will always remember the announcements over the tanoy system , " would the owner of Car reg XNM 162S please return to their Car , they have left the Engine running " such was the desperation to get in for the 1st race which was often an M8 or M9 affair where there would be a 25-1 shot amongst the field . Loved it Fondest memory backing a dog at 33-1 in a graded race , photo finish , 5-1 against in the photo , my mate said whack in on the 1-2 on jolly in the photo , you cant loose , I bet the same dog in the photo it won . Great bookies all of them

Really fond memories of the track. Remember the various Tracton dogs, nearly all top class, and an A1 dog called Homer's Tale. Also remember a low grade dog called Catch Lucky that used to run over the 523m trip. Always missed the break but always finished well at a decent price. Still to this day remember backing him at 10/1 winning an M6. Strange how these things stick in your head.

Sadly missed. Only BAGS kept it going and like so many stadiums, left to run down. Broken plate glass windows, lino on the floors....The disused 'Popular' side, a reminder of better times..The art deco grand stand...Ah, that's nostalaga for you! And life goes on..

My brother bought had dog in the sales at hackney in late 77.He paid £600 for a dog called ridgemount swank .He was a beautiful red fawn dog ,never seen a dog walk like him ,it was if each leg was on springs fantastic action .Brother had him trained at white city manchester he ran around 6 times and went lame .Two weeks off and won his trial back .On 28th feb 1978 we couldnt see him getting beat .Expecting little over evens he opened ay 9/4 before drifting to 3/1,we got £500 on at 3/1.Flew out and led all the way unchallenged. We spit the bet with 3 bookies who told us not to bet with them again ,such sporting chaps.....WHAT a night .

Never went to the Wick and always regretted it, as a Brightonian Hove was my track, I did visit all the London tracks, but never got to Hackney, I walked along Waterden Road recently but couldn’t work out where the dog track was situated. I did bet with the Jenkins brothers at Wembley and collected from them just after Neil Foulds the snooker player did, would have been 1987...happy days.

I was there recently, it’s part of the 2012 Olympic Development, the Copper Box Arena is across the road ( the Arena used for Boxing) it’s ridiculous that London has no dog track now….
