I will be leaving this city soon I can no longer deal with this anymore. My brother was killed last year in May and my car was stolen in December. I am mentally defeated
I'm leaving New Orleans. Been here my whole life I'm 40. I'm afraid to go anywhere home, work, & store only. I'm leaving soon my heart bleeds for what's it has become..
I LOVE NEW ORLEANS, ALWAYS HAVE ALWAYS WILL! IT'S SAD THAT THERE ARE SOME SOCIAL, ECNOMIC, RACIAL, AND POLITICAL PROBLEMS BUT IT IS STILL ONE HELL OF A CITY. I COULD CALL NO OTHER PLACE HOME. NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
The politicians are too corrupt. It’ll never change until the mindset of the leadership in the city changes. It’s the mindset of the leaders and the citizens as well.
I’m born and raised New Orleans. Not there now but been trying to find a decent job and move back for the past year . And I was there 3 weeks ago. I love my city and crime is rampant everywhere not just in New Orleans. Hell I’m in Dallas and murders is happening left and right up here too. Keep Your head on a swivel and pay attention to your surroundings and everyone around you. That what I learned growing up in Ptown uptown and I’ve used it my whole life. Real Talk
It was never this bad in New Orleans, this city is dieing .You are right about all of the other democrat run cities that are being ruined by violence. It is not happening in republican run cities, just look at Metairie and kenner, both republican run cities. Democrat run cities are not jailing criminals, 50 and 60 arrest and back on the street to rob again and again.
14 and 15 should be tried as adults because they’re old enough to know the difference between right and wrong. It’s sad that they have no parental control over these teens.
Not really A 15 year old might know right from wrong but some parts of their minds are still young Honestly people aren't officially adults until they're 28 when their bodies slow down
Exactly! 15 year old brain is still developing . Poverty! Poverty! Poverty! Untreated mental illness, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder…😢 Miserable system of education!
@@phylicia595 when they are hiding their faces, lying, congregating together just to go commit crimes they know exactly what they are doing is wrong. Problem is their hearts are hardened even at a young teenage stage.
@@grayscar05 I meant trash Hollywood/RAP narcissistic culture that glorifies crime, selfishness and addiction and yes we now have multiple generations of parents who have been raised with this culture and each generation becomes worse than the last. It all starts at home but modern (post 1950s) culture has destroyed this country.
I grew up in Nola and no longer live there. But I work as a home visitor/parent educator. We use an amazing evidence based program that shows great success among participants. We support families from the time momma is pregnant until the child enters kindergarten. We provide unconditional nonjudgmental support, we help young moms and dads go back to school, we assist with goal setting and we really get their wheels turning to help them create the life they want. I would imagine a program like home visiting would provide substantial change for the better in my hometown.
No offense, but New Orleans is without a doubt the most ass backwards, violent, dirty, corrupt Chocolate City I’ve ever stepped upon. I kid you not I feel safer in the South or West side of Chicago versus the entire New Orleans. They’re the worst drivers I’ve ever seen. I don’t think most of them know what a turning signal is. They either drive too fast or way too slow and always too slow in the passing lane! It’s like everyone who lives there is pissed off looking or acting all the time. You can’t blame the weather because next door here in Mississippi, it’s just as bad and the people are way nicer and more laid back. It’s so strange how extremely opposites the Cultures are.
Q: How are many root causes not already known? Many are aren't they? entrenched poverty, inability to manage anger, abuse in childhood, parenting & too many guns, psychological issues for some.
Broken windows policing is a good base to work from. Yes, focus on problem people and areas but the end game is not to let criminals gain a foot hold to begin with.
I’m very concerned, my parents are in their 80s and decided to move to New Orleans. Between the crime and hurricanes, I cannot see how they can protect and care for themselves each day, family are miles away.
@@6248cjl that's a good question. I wouldn't want my 80 year old parents moving anywhere without family nearby and if they move a 55+ community is the only place that would make any sense.
I spent two weeks in beloved New Orleans in 1992 - there were no such things and we tourists felt totally safe in Nawlins busses, washing saloons, whatsover. This is why I still love Louisiana.
That's not what my boy who grew up in the projects out there in the 3rd Ward would say. He told me a bunch of crazy stories and had the war wounds to prove it. New Orleans has always been wild
There are certain cities that fall into despair due to decades of poor leadership and mismanagement by elected officials masking as saviors of change. Change that rarely comes. New Orleans is that city.
I have lived in 4 different states and many other cities and new orleans is the only city i have ever lived where I am afraid for my life. I feel like i will walk out a car and just get killed.
@@-kate2828 And so based on your logic her criminal activities must have helped her earn that car so she deserved it? The lady was targeted because she was defenseless! If she had been an armed 6’4” male body builder the car would not have mattered. Ask yourself what kind of mind can justify an attack on the defenseless, those who harm children, babies, pets, women, and the elderly. Monsters
I’m too scared to cross into the Louisiana Border over here in Hancock County, Mississippi! The Culture is like night and day as soon as you leave Mississippi.
almost got mugged in City Park on Thursday. Saved by situational awareness and a group of runners that we ran to. Then the mugger flips us off for getting away. I wasn’t sold before that, but now im convinced New Orleans is trash .. let it fall in the ocean. Just dont let the people move to the North Shore when it does.
Everybody say Thanks to Mayor Latoya Cantrell...LET'S NOT FORGET WHAT SHE RECENTLY SAID...NOTHING IS WRONG AT ALL, AND (CRIME IS TRENDING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION...)..SO, IS THIS THE RIGHT DIRECTION.???YES, NOLA had crime before, but nothing Luke this, look at the statistics.... It's sad and poor leadership
The overview of the crime problem in New Orleans was well done with one glaring omission. Public Education! Not one interview with a teacher, superintendent, school board member, parent…not one. Education is the key. These carjackers are not in school. Why?
Because if truancy is actually prosecuted parents from the hood will be held accountable. The DA was elected because he basically said he does not want to lock up Black people. Truancy will NEVER be prosecuted in Orleans Parish so more than 50% of these kids will never go to school. It is probably just as well because how do educate someone that does not want an education? You can't.
I remember growing up in New Orleans as a kid with my Granny and Grandpa in the East It was a different time back then but crime was always in the city just not as bad as it is nowadays Lord have mercy stay PRAYED UP 🙏 yall I'm so glad I moved away years ago I just come back to visit once in a while, I'm out of there 😐
Yes. Back in the day if you were from the East you were considered somebody. Still has beautiful homes but the crime is a ishtty mess. It is bad in Gentilly too now.
The REAL problem is that whole gangsta rap thug mentality. Scumbags trying to live out rap lyrics thinking It'll Make Them Like Their Gangsta Heros. Only People Who Are Into Gangsta Rap Commit These Violent Crimes......No One Else.
These teenagers should have been tried as adults. They showed no remorse for dragging Linda Frickeys body along the ground while driving off in her car. This case still bothers me along with the carjacking at the Costco gas station to this day.😥🙏🇺🇲
That & Gotta Love the rabid, amoral gop who want as many weapons on the streets as possible as long as them & their family's are unharmed. Keep voting for them if you want the carnage to continue.
People need to leave that no good city. Politics stealing money no good education down there no outlet for the young kids new trade schools who in their right mind would want to live down there. I've been moved from New Orleans I saw no future down there. I had to make a biggest step and leave. All negative things down there no positive things. I want to live not die so I and my kids brother would never come to sorry New Orleans that hurt my heart it for the good.
The last time I was in New Orleans was in the 1990's. Flew from Newark then rented a car and drove to Lafayette for my cousin's wedding. Even then the crime rates and stories about even the tourist areas made me think otherwise about visiting Bourbon Street, especially when drinking. There are people that look for that. Not to be totally down on New Orleans; I live in South Carolina near Savannah, GA and to go there during the day and see the various beautiful parks and attractions is nice, but after sundown...if I'm not hard against that river at a hotel/bar/restaurant..I don't go. Even a few blocks in from the river is a life-risk. There are bullets flying almost every night in Savannah. Daytona Beach is in a different way now, but still not too safe. If you want to save money and stay at a hotel west of I-95 beware. Even the hotel Days Inn Wyndham at Daytona Beach Speedway (which it's not) ripped me off.. Never had that happen before. Booked online ...confirmation..all that..for 1 night. When I arrived they asked for same credit card but then charged me again for same room. (Which I find out later) They then say there is a $ 100 deposit on the room, which is excessive---I never got that back...Currently fighting all this with my credit card company. The homeless there look for cars to break into while you're asleep. We had to set a watch for every 2 hours to keep an eye on our vehicles. Lots of stray people that didn't belong there just scoping out the place. These are not gang-bangers that can afford a gun, but people that would probably sell one that they steal inside a vehicle for the next fix. If this hotel is ripping off customers, I wonder what kind of tips are they giving to thieves? Definitely don't stay here and leave anything valuable in your room. Just want to say I'm not putting New Orleans down, there are places near me that are bad too.
I got family from Louisiana and the United States needs to be held accountable for the wack ass health system - y’all got Louisiana just out there all f’d up FIX IT WASHINGTON FIX IT
I am thinking about moving to New Orleans I am from Sacramento, CA we have to care for the families of theses victims to keep hope alive and not focus on the crime so much. The city of New Orleans should be paying the family of the elder woman got them in a nice house with ongoing counseling and support because the true victims are the families theses folk left behind. Our father in heaven forgive us of our sins let's teach each other Jesus. I love you to all of us RIH to all the victims family heaven is a real place the ones gones can come here temporary but heaven is there permanent home. Trust God he hated he created people because we where evil he sent Jesus. Jesus is the light at the end of the tunnel.
Please don't move out here, if you do, make sure your finance is strong and you have a back up plan because there are no good employment opportunities here.
It not the criminals or fugitives. Its not being united as one then Uncle Mononoply created this illusion of da. Courts, police, corrections, and pononkio decption. At the end, whats the hook up 123 life in Angola wit out parole. - i said that
HUM.. if Whitecops dont saw a black people's? any time gonna stop him an says ' oh my gods my god tell me u had weapons and drugs ' i think we good the..
@@kathyheavner3585 not true. Speaking like somebody that came from a privilege life, I bet you a Karen. Go tell that to the people that live under kleptocratic governments like Haiti or Nigeria.
Just this week there was almost 2 shootings here in marrero where I work, usually an argument comes then gun flashing comes next, luckily they didn't shoot this week but that's not always the case
