I also have a Glycine Combat Sub (GL0076), which is the same colorway as yours, and I can attest to it being an insane value for the money. I happen to think that the Combat Sub actually offers the best bang for buck on the market no questions asked.
The lume pip on the bezel of the Tissot isn't centered. I'd definitely rather buy a fancy Japanese watch with a serviceable movement for 600 than an entry level Swiss, but that's just me.
I like Squales but not this one. Glycine is my favorite here, but the 24 hour markers are useless on a non GMT watch. A more classic diver dial would make it more attractive.
Have experience of all three and the Glycine spanks the competition here - great price, dimensions (thinness) and a great all round tool watch. Nice to see them all alongside each other.
As I type, I am waiting for the Glycine Combat Sub GL0317 to arrive. I think the bronze look and the submariner knock-off dial looks great - better than the dial on your version. I guess prices have fallen over the course of the year since this video dropped, because I got mine from an authorized dealer for less than $500, tax inclusive. This will be my 2nd bronze watch. I think the bronze tone is a really nice look. As for the other watches - I’d take the Tissot, but the painted sandpaper look of the Squale does absolutely nothing for me. Cheers.
I like the seastar, but the bezel action is not the best. I went to the Tissot shop and they told me that the bezel was ok. But I find it a bit sloppy compared to much cheaper diving watches. But overall love the watch
I’m new to this channel and really enjoy the videos! I’m contemplating purchasing a Swiss watch and am wondering what you would purchase at the $1,000 & $1,500 price points.
Nice comparison Randy. I have gotten rid of all my dive watches except for my almost 20 year old Tissot SeaStar. They are all solid watches but that Glycine is very appealing.
I’m partial to the seastar, why cause I have it in the blue dial and bracelet, I don’t know the other two watches,I do like the look if the squal, the glycine is ok to, but I do love my Tissot seastar very well made & the eta movement is very well made with plenty of watchmakers that can repair or replace the movement
If i had to pick, itd be the tissot, the glycine looks like it fell out of a lucky bag, for less money i just got a citizen fujitsubo, not swiss but far superior in every department, once again in my humble opinion. @antonhallergren588
Fantastic review and comparison. Thank you for sharing. Two of them remain on my list. If I have to say one thing about all of them, due to my compromised sight, the minute hands on all of them are a little narrow for my liking, especially in the dark. I think I would have to choose the Tissot 2000 as my preference, but not under $600. All Squale watches are lovely, but the Glycine will always hold a special in my heart. 😁
I’m going to stick with my Citizen Titanium Divers 200 . High beat movement, anti magnetic, anti shock, ISO certified, +5/day, and great looks. That’s said, the Glycine is a good looking watch!
Great video. All three have their good points. I have the Glycine in Bronze. Got it from Ashford. The Glycine is thin. I do like the other two as well. Powermatic80. I do like the dial on the Squale. How many people actually go "Diving"? I will end up at the pool.
Love the Seastar! I want to like Squale watches but they just don't catch my eye. I know they're great watches but I just don't find the appealing. The Tissot and Glycine are very nice! Could be the dial color that gets me... Thanks Randy! 👍👍👍
Good review. I agree with you on your overall assessment of this Squale model. I am a big of the brand. I have a Onda and the Matic. These piece are more expensive and the quality is much better than the model you reviewed.
Nice video..I like how the Tissot you like with the gradient dial, is like the more affordable Rolex you just bought, lol. I’ve almost bought that Glycine like three time…because of your vids…
The Mad Watch Collector told us he doesn't like Tissot! ... and he was pretty animated about it. Then again, he also likes Casio. 🙂 Regardless, I appreciate the perspectives from both of you. Thanks, Randy! (Hey, don't blame me. You're the one who introduced us to him on the CAM channel.)
I find no fault in the bracelet, and the way the watch fits, and the thinness is fantastic. The bracelet doesn’t taper much, so on a smaller wrist it may look too big. I have the gl0077 (blue) and it’s my most worn watch.
Just got the Seastar 1000 chronograph 20 days ago in orange, love it, was concerned about the wobbly crown when unscrewed and in the time setting position, my watch maker said it is normal as the crown is 2 pieces on a spring. Also my other 2 screw down crown watches have some wobble so not going to worry about it
@@cheapwatchman_official I think I heard somewhere that the bearings are ceramic in the Tissot 1000 but I don’t know if that’s true or not, but compared to my tactical frog and invictas in the past, for me, so far, the bezel is pretty sweet.
Glycine has been owned since 2016 by the Invicta Watch Group, hence the Invicta like pricing scheme. However, it doesn't seem to have effected the brand in any way other way. Thanks for the comparison, I do believe that Glycine is my favorite out of the three.
