She's articulate...it needs analysis on how she explained things..she started her answer being herself as example as Fil American officer bridging the gap bet Asian & American...already earned a respect being an officer...and she's successful being engaged in a multi-cultural program...her answer is herself and just explained and exemplified things already, brilliant answer!!!
Lately, I thought that the answer was far from the questions, but after analyzing here answer, I came to understand that she was emphasizing that She's a proud Afro Latina women, and a child of a migrant worker yet she and her mom came a long way, she blended with the cultures that is within and sorrounds her as she live as a true american!
she looks so ordinary in places like Philippines or Cambodia. If you put an ad for a laundry woman in Southern Philippines, you'd most likely think she has so many sibblings in the Philippines.

Based on the answer to this question alone she did not deserve to win. I don't know what anyone else said.But they would have had to stand there like a deer in the headlight with no words at all... She did not answer her question. She didn't even come close to answering her question. Why did she win? " I am a proud afro latina woman..."

You did not hear it correctly. She is Afro-Latina; in other terms, black and Hispanic. She is not Filipino. What is with you all trying to claim her now that she has a crown? Y'all take this stuff a bit too seriously.

This pageant should have been shown on the BET channel. Half of the finalists were bl ack. Even the runner up who had a terrible question and answer response still made it that far. Totally fixed to appease the afro Americans. This so called pageant is a joke.
That's true. They should have learned from what happened in Miss Universe 1993 and 2007 in Mexico. If the pageant will be held in Mexico they know they should send a Latina or a blonde to represent them in Mexico. Anyways I still think an Asian candidate will win at the end of the final night and if a miracle happens then an European or a Latina might win there.
She didn't even come close to answering the question, she just regurgitated the same thing she said in the B-roll about what it would mean to win the title. Disappointing to say the least. She'll be lucky to make it to the top 16/20 at MU.
