It's amazing that you have to go through all this just to get access to the program... and your themes have to be approved of. 95% of the themes in the samsung store are HORRIBLE and ugly! I just want to be able to create a theme for myself.
EXACTLY. I wish Samsung would open the theme creator tool to everyone, but let you make a theme that will only run on your phone and or just can't be put in the Galaxy Store if you want (keep the certification process for those that want to sell in the store if they want). They have the "Theme Park" mobile app for creating themes but its nowhere near as powerful or even as easy to use as this looks like it would be.
So the requirements are high, that's said themes in store should be good. But sadly it isn't a thing. Almost all of them looks bad if not all. They are too exaggerated and the icons... ugh. They aren't even close to the one's from Google play I can download for free...
In my case, i just wanted to create my own themes to use personally on my own phone and i'm disappointed we're forced to pass through a review exam just to get this theme studio software. There is no criteria so they simply choose if you can or cannot become a theme designer based on their own tastes, simply scandalous because it's my phone, i have my own tastes and if i want to make an ugly-looking theme it's my own choice. What's more ? It's only at certain time of year so you cannot become one whenever you want... HTC and Huawei have their own tools free for use to make personal themes and they are reviewed for showing off to public in the theme app only at this time and if you want to show them to everyone. The only way now for me to create my own theme on a Samsung is to jailbreak it and change the theme with root privileges. Thanks Samsung.
Same here. I was making themes for SE for years and upload them on several sites for free. Now I can't make theme for my own. If I didn't got cell phone as a gift I would never buy it.
Look man, I don't wanna make themes for the general public to be sold on your storefront. I just want to make themes for myself! Please make Galaxy Themes Studio available for everyone to download. Make it so only developers can upload them to the store, sure, but let the general public make their own themes
@@rosa-hu4kf Is Theme Park available for A21? I can't see it on the Galaxy Store. I've also done a lot of research into this and can't figure out why it isn't showing up.
Hi! Does copyright remain with the artist? If yes, let's say I have items on Galaxy Themes. Will I still be able to sell them on my own website/store (for Android users who are using a different phone brand)? Or should the theme be exclusively available on Galaxy Themes? Thanks!
I think anyone should have access to the theme studio but to sell you have to pass the review first personal I want to make a custom one for my phone and am not interested in selling them
@@SamsungDevelopers BULLSHIT! Total cop out! Sounds like Apple to me! Dictating to us what we can do with our personal phones. Sounds like samsung just wants to cash in on theme sales. F this. I'm out
Copyright question... Does that mean using sports team logos ect are not allowed? I don't see much sports themes if any in the theme store.. us sports fans love our teams & would be perfect to theme our phones in the different sport seasons.. Also yall should make it to where you have to register if you want to sell your themes to the public, that way people can just make themes for personal use only.. no harm in letting people choose to sell or use for personal taste 🤷
Why do we have to pass a test just to get the program? I'd rather pay so I can easily get it. And no copywritten content? I want themes based off things I enjoy like games! It's no wonder I can't find a fallout or sheikah slate themes! Look instead of forcing people to pass a subjective exam just give out the program on your website so anyone can start making fan made themes based off of whatever it is they like for their own phones personally, and if they want to start selling themes THEN make them go through this little test. This system you have in place right now is badly flawed and will only annoy people, forcing them to use third party apps on the google play store to get or even make the themes they actually want.
Hi there, Themes Studio is provided for professional designers to publish their work on Galaxy Store, hence why we request designers to apply before gaining access and why certain copyright restrictions are in place. If you have further questions, please reach out by submitting a support request or posting in our developer forum and we’ll be happy to continue this conversation. developer.samsung.com/support forum.developer.samsung.com
Hi. I missed this year’s enrollment and the website says that enrollment for next year wont be announced until June. Is there a reason its so late in the year? Thanks.
Hi Samsung Developers, basically, I have to add a mock template as part of my portfolio for the partnership application(becoming a theme designer), however I find the directions a little confusing. Is it correct to say that all I have to do is save my final mock theme in a jpg format, and call it a day? Or do I have to save it as some other sort of file type? Do i need to use photoshop? Can u please give examples of some other programs Many thanks
I encourage you to read this blog post developer.samsung.com/sdp/blog/en-us/2020/02/07/how-to-become-a-samsung-mobile-ui-themes-designer. If you still have questions, please visit our forums: forum.developer.samsung.com/c/galaxy-themes/28
Hi, i wanted t know if there's any certification or degree required to apply ? because i'm a med student actually, but i'm very passionate about digital design, and i have dozens of themes that are ready to be sent in the next submission window. Thank you !
Hii, i just have a question So I'm using sketchbook Autodesk to design the wallpapers but when i tried to use the screen size 144× 144 for designing the icons, does not work . So my question is: can I use the size 1440×1440 for icons in sketchbook instead of 144×144? Thank you
Yes, you can design the icons at a larger size but when you place the icons on to your phone UI theme design for your portfolio they should be the same size as the current UI icons.
Hi, just a question can we edit every icon present in the template? Like the icons in the Settings UI for the connections, notifications, etc. And if so, can we change only the colors of it or can we also make our very own style of it?
For your portfolio submission you can edit every icon in the UI. The only icons that you are required to re-design are the 8 Home Screen icons, all other icons you are free to leave as-is, revise colors or create unique icons.
How come You are using the Mac (Apple) system and teaching a Samsung design? If I don't have the Mac, how can I get the Photoshop Template File in my Windows system?
When you download the “starter kit” do we need to actually use this? I have some designs that I made using a mock up Samsung phone but it’s not the same Samsung phone that’s in the pdf But I still have everything included that is necessary. I just wasn’t sure if we HAD to use what was provided?
Does the Galaxy Themes Studio software work on newer (2020 and newer) M1 Macs? And if so, does it work natively, or through Rosetta? Thank you! (Just asking for future reference)
Can you guys do an app or software that we can create our own themes, I don't even mind paying for it, bro most of the themes in galaxy store are not that pleasant, especially considering there's so many qualifications that need to go through according to your video.
after finishing, where do I upload it? Divine.Corporation is the master of design :D i bet my first samsung thems will be accepted but where does it send for verification??? I have samsung Account
@@SamsungDevelopers That sounds like a big greed to me. SE had their own Theme creator in time when Samsung was big 0 (zero). Of course, for free. With every new model of cell phones , they made upgrade of their software. Everyone was able to download it for free. I'm really angry that I have to use Samsung instead of my good old SE W850. I'm sure that sooner or later, someone will make the software for creating themes and stop your greed.
Hi developers. Respectfully I can't understand why we can't just design like the home and lockscreen keeping the original icons. In any theme you will have hundreds of icons not matching the theme anyway. I would personally buy just a good background image and I don't like most of the redesigned icons. And a question. Can I design a theme for exactly ONE phone/model? I find it very interesting if I can use pixel precise placement of objects if you understand how I mean. One more :) Can I use brands (if I have permission)? And can I use a Samsung/galaxy brand or name in another font? I never understood the anonymity of Samsung phones. The name comes up at startup but Samsung fans wants to show of what they got to the world. It should be visible in large. On the back or atleast as a theme.
Here are a few short answers to your questions. If you would like more detailed answers I would suggest submitting a support request at developer.samsung.com/support, or visit our forum at forum.developer.samsung.com/ to post your questions. • Wallpapers can be used as a home/lock screen and use the original icons. • Themes cannot be designed for a specific phone model. • To use a brand name or other intellectual property you must submit a license from the brand owner. • Themes cannot include the Samsung brand name regardless of the font.
A total of 3 screens must be submitted in the theme portfolio but I do not understand whether to upload their screen UI template or single PDF to be uploaded?
Hi, We have a question that, We are designing a theme portfolio, and we have read the guideline carefully. In the starter kit gudline it is written that we have submit six screens of a single theme, but in a developers community someone is saying that we each have to submit 6 themes!
That is incorrect. You are only required to submit one theme concept that contains the six required screens. However, you can submit more than one theme concept, but only one is required. Keep in mind that you will be judged on all that you submit so make sure you submit your best work.
Is there any examples of a good portfolio i can take a look at ? Because some people may not be so good at making portfolios. And what is the benefit of selling some themes for free ?
To see good portfolios, I would suggest looking at the top theme designs on Galaxy Store and then viewing their collection of designs. The benefit of offering some themes for free is to introduce users to your brand. I would suggest only offering a few free themes and only for a limited time.
I applied to Samsung Galaxy Partners and got rejected without any reason such like art style, quality,... I would like improve my submission next times but I really don't know what I should focus on. "Thank you for applying for a Galaxy Themes Designer. We regret to inform you that you have not been selected as a Galaxy Themes Designer at this time. However, as we recruit new designers regularly, please apply again and submit another portfolio. We look forward to hearing from you in the future and seeing your updated portfolio next time. Thanks again for your interest in the Galaxy Themes."
We're sorry you weren't accepted this round. The process is very competitive. You can reach out to our support team to see if they can provide more specifics. developer.samsung.com/support
One more question please : If I published a stock photo on the internet and used it in the theme, will it count as a stock photo and will be denied for use?
Are you saying that you took the photo and submitted your photo to a stock photo website for others to purchase and use? If so, as long as you still own the rights to the photo, then you should be able to use your original photo how you like.
So I downloaded the starter kit and I can't seem to access anything of what you just did. Is it only available during the window period to create themes?
You can download the starter kit at any time to help you create your application theme designs. However, you can only submit your theme application designs (theme portfolio) when the window is open.
Hello,i have created my new texture art theme UI design share but still reject so what is reason reject for my art work design please give me reason so i know my mistake because totally screen are made by dynamic if you are give me reject reason so i will understand my mistake i request you please rechecking my UI template design and give me reason please i hope you understand .. thank you

To create the portfolio comp designs, you can use a program like Photoshop and simply mimic the theme layout. If you are selected to publish themes, you will be given access to the software Themes Studio to build your actual themes.
YOU CAN MAKE THEMES OH MY GOD MY LIFE HAS CHANGED I HAVEN'T FINISHED THE VID BUT THIS IS GONNA BE SO COOL I'M SO EXCITED TO DO IT I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS AAAAAAAH Edit 1: you need photoshop? Oh wait you can do it without How do I do it without-
I have been trying to join the partner program for years. But, they have hidden the process for years. I have tried to join and they block it every danged time. I can't post submissions because they always say that I must join the developer program with a Samsung Account, mind you I have had for Several Years. So frustrating! So much money lost!
Here you said that I need to make one design of six-screens...and when I did with that I surprised at the website that you want three different designs which is too much for the only submission !!!....also here you compressed the six files to be attached with the application but in the website said to convert the six-screens to pdf!!!!....what are exactly the requirements?
The requirement for submitting a Themes portfolio has changed since this video was posted. 3 complete UI designs are now required, not 1. To simplify the process, a single PDF file containing all designs must be submitted. ZIP files containing JPGs are no longer accepted.
In this box you can write a description of other design projects you have done (websites, logos, advertisements, posters, etc.) and also talk about the type of theme designs you would like to make. If you have any examples that are online, you can include links in the Reference Link box. You can also attach example images of your work in the Reference Attached Files field along with your UI themes portfolio screens.
For your portfolio application you can use any graphics program that allows you to save your designs as a PDF. At this time we do not have any other tutorials.
How to get a job that makes brand new phones for samsung because i broke my samsung galaxy a71 because i dont want other peaple to expirence this so i want to make phones even tho im just 11 so maybe when im done in collage ill aplly for samsung
For your portfolio review, all icons need to be designed by you. If you are accepted to become a publisher, you can use icons designed by someone else only if they have given you the proper license that allows you to distribute their artwork.
So blocked at the first hurdle - ''Your account doesn't have permission to access Theme Editor!'' Guess for some reason you don't want Samsung Galaxy A12 members to do their own designs then :( I have visual Impairment and struggle with a lot the themes others have done, I want to do a theme for me, with colours that I find easy, as well as fonts I can read. Yet how can I do this when you won't even let me have permission to have a go?! Very disappointed in you Samsung. When I contacted you on Live Chat last week, you said to use the keyboards you have done for visually impaired peeps....they are the worst ones you can ever give me, hence why I want to do my own!!
Hello, Samsung Developers! I have an issue with the layer Settings. When I try to change some smart objects from it, it says that it can not be open because "failed to launch the app where it was created in". What I have to do?
Those Smart Objects are embedded Adobe Illustrator graphics. In order to open and modify, Adobe Illustrator must be installed. However, these graphics are not required to be changed. If you would like to simply adjust the coloring, right-click on each of these layers and select “Rasterize Layer”. This will turn the graphic into a Photoshop layer that you can then easily adjust.
hello i wanted to fill out a portfolio and i wanted to know if I am aloud to use pictures for backgrounds from free services like unsplash wich dose not need a license to use their images for commercial and non-commercial purposes or i am not allowed to do this?
Your portfolio submission cannot include images from stock image services. This is because the review team wants to see all of your talent as a designer. However, if selected to publish themes, you are allowed to use licensed imagery that allows for distribution.
Very pedant and fussy err? But I saw a theme that is actually not fitting in my Samsung A7 2018 and in my Note 20 Ultra. It was just in the settings buttons. I hope you would read this comment and get in touch with me. I really loved that theme especially the colour patterns. But the buttons on settings are not fitting well. I have a screen shots if you want.
No it is not. You can use any design software that you would like. The Themes Studio Portfolio Submission Starter Kit does include a Photoshop template file, but it also includes a PDF showing each of the UI screens that you are required to design. You can use this PDF as a reference when designing the UI screens.
