I applaud the effort, but this testing does not simulate the drastic and immediate pressure changes that occur during an actual storm. The negative pressure which is the "sucking" action your home, windows and doors which make them bow out, can actually be worse during a severe storm. I even witnessed a glass manufacturer that was allowed to leave caulking all around the glass where it meets the frame, so these guys actually are cheating during their testing. When I asked someone there, they said they all do it. I thought, so they all cheat? Crazy. I am writing an OP Ed piece on how the hurricane standards in the U.S. are weak compared to other countries and I have found a disturbing culture at both the govt level, and the manufacturing level. I recommend you research any hurricane protection product thoroughly and know the testing criteria in the U.S. is weak compared to many other countries. For instance most American products are to weak to be approved for use in most areas of Australia, and this includes any hurricane resistant glass.
