Dorothy is great. I saw them live at a music festival a few years ago and they were awesome. I really loved their first album, the second didn't hit as hard for me but the third was a solid return to form and I loved it.

She had tons of great stuff like; Flawless, Gun In My Hand, Raise Hell and Down To The Bottom and etc.!! THE PRETTY WRECKLESS another great woman fronted group!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎

I love this song! If I remember it well, this song was made as goodbye to her drug addiction.

Dorothy said that this song is not about a love interest or an ex, but about saying goodbye to her own hard partying, drinking, destructive dark side.

Took me a couple listens to realize the lyrics weren’t about an actual death, perhaps even helped along. “Blood on the hands” right in the beginning gave me that impression, but later verses indicate otherwise. Great choice. And yes, Sam and Dorothy could be sisters. Peace, MB

YES!!! You guys just stumbled into one of the best female vocalists, bands and sound, vibe, music in this century. I saw her open for Halestorm and she just killed it, banger after banger. She Has 3 albums out since 2016, all are great rock with some incredible tunes you would think you were in the 70s or 80s with her old school, hard rock vibe, but she attacks modern listeners because she is real good. Try the official video for Who Do You Love and see some more power and glory from Dorothy! They are the real deal and well worth exploring, she has some face melting stuff, On My Knees is crazy good. Glad someone is hitting her, she is happening right now and has this 69 year old quite optimistic that there still will be great rock going forward. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

A love interest of the past similar to many girls folly, falling for the bad guy they later regret but she had the strength to finally leave him and bid him farewell and wishes all the bad and more he gave her on him

Funny you used that quote, because Steve Lukather, the guitarist and writer for the band Toto, his son Trevor helped write some songs and played on this album.

I see this lady doing commentation on the AXS cable channel. Great channel for good music programming. Her voice reminds me a little of Taylor Momsen in the band Pretty Reckless. Sam does favor her a bit! Awesome reaction video guys!!! Hope your holidays were great. GO BOSTON BRUINS!!! 🍻🤟

I remember when the video for 'After Midnight' came out, which I believe was Dorothy's first song. That was almost 10 years ago now which blows my mind. I'd honestly lost track of this band, and didn't even know about their 'Gifts From the Holy Ghost' album. I'm going to need to check that album out!! Thank you both for doing this reaction, and thank you to John for recommending it!! Oh, and for what its worth, I can see where John's coming from seeing Sam in Dorothy Martin (the singer). After hearing this... Better not make Sam mad, Phil!! 🤣

This song is about her leaving everything including the memories of an abusive relationship behind and starting fresh. It's about setting herself free.It's nice to see that record companies are finally waking up to the fact that female / female led rock/ metal bands can be successful if given a chance. As proven by Dorothy , Halestorm, The Warning , The Pretty Reckless. thanks to the fight those that came before them had to endure Heart,The Runaways ( Joan Jett & Lita Ford Solo) and the many other female rockers who were trail blazers for these groups that never got the chance to shine because a few stuffed shirts didn't think women should rock out.

The only thing that really sucks with regards to some of these newer modern rockers is that guitar driven music in general has been out of vogue since the 2010s and now into the 2020s, and as a result a lot of talented singers like her (while they may have enough of an audience to be making a living) aren't attaining the huge superstar status that they should have. A good hard rocking band like this would have been consistently selling out huge arenas like Madison Square Garden and selling several million records every time they put out an album back in the 1980s-early 90s.
@vicprovost2561
@vicprovost2561 6 месяцев назад
I hear you there on sales but what I hang onto is at least a few contemporary bands are still rocking and making damn fine music. For me, an old hippie I'm happy with that in these troubled times.
@bozeeke
@bozeeke 6 месяцев назад
@@vicprovost2561 my comment wasn't that newer bands aren't good, it's that this type of music just isn't getting its just due anymore. Whether it's modern contemporary blues rock, hard rock, modern metal etc., you may have some acts that have a big enough audience to actually make a nice living, but nobody new in rock (or guitar driven music generally) is selling out arenas or selling millions of records. Only legacy acts.
